Pat Martino has left a treasure of great , as he would say , " Activities " !!! 😁 Love him !!! As a guitarist I have come to the realization that I will never be able to play like him !!! But I can try to take bits and pieces from him and improve my own playing !!! His ideas, lines, phrasing and feel is something to be hold !!! R.I.P. Pat and thanks for all the beautiful music !!!
With Tyronne Brown AND Sherman Ferguson seems to put this in the 70's, but I've checked every 60's - 70's album (easy when ya got em all) and I can only conclude that this is live or an unissued track. I know Sherman played with Pat after his comeback and Tyronne may well have too (can't recall right now and don't feel like checking) but the two of them together seems to place this track in the 70's.
Investigate Martino’s “symmetrical parental forms”. Only 2 chord types are “symmetrical” in that the notes are equidistant. 1: Picture the 3-note AUGMENTED TRIAD (1-3-#5) as an equilateral triangle. So, for example fret the GBE on frets 554 for C+ or C aug. Move any of those notes DOWN by one fret, and you’ll “parent” 3 different major triads (1-3-5); instead move those notes UP by one fret, and you’ll “parent” 3 different minor triads (1-b3-5). 2: Now picture the 4-note DIMINISHED (1-b3-b5-bb7) as a perfect square. Frets 4545 on the DGBE strings is a Diminished 7th chord, with any note possibly being seen as the root (So F#, C, D#, or A Dim7. Move any of those notes DOWN by one fret, and you’ll parent 4 different Dominant 7th chords (1-3-5-b7). (So F7, B7, D7, or G#7). - This is not a “theory”, or anything that is open to debate; this is simply one aspect of how a guitar works in standard tuning (by “standard tuning”, I mean not the pitches but the intervals between the notes). It is as immutable as is CAGED, and belongs in the same category of “how a guitar works”. Please, get Pat’s lesson under your fingers! Pat Martino, master musician, observed this …. and it amazes me!
wow this version is great too-love to listen to different versions of the same tune by Pat. from where is this one? i have the yoshi's and interchange ones.
Oleg Gusser That’s what I assumed as well, but this is not the same version. This sounds much older, but the Yoshi’s version has Joey Defrancesco on the organ and no bassist. This one has bass and no organ.
Guys, just consider life complicarions Mr. Martino has gone through: hard work, perfect technique, worl-wide recognition - then BAM - stroke! Complete loss of memory and all all skills! :( And years after, with all his will power and "a little help of his friends" comes complete recovery amd music understanding on the very new level! That is where I'm envy...
Pat the artist. Thank you for such wonderful music.

What album is this song from? Brilliant improvisation. This takes you places. Mood altering.

It’s doesn’t sound like Blue In Green except at the end, you must have started the song on his solo instead of the beginning!
Easy riffs
