    Auto switch is THE major annoyance I have with Lyft and it's always switched to a lower fare! In my market, Riverside, CA, I once saw the Lyft notification asking me if I wanted to switch, but it was JUST a one time thing... Since then, the app has been auto-switching without giving a choice -- I ALWAY cancel these annoying auto-switched rides. Great video Jay!

    I can't agree more except for total drive time. In LA I still get to pickup time and to destination time. Along with cross streets. Knowing my area as well as I do makes this great. Also the last few weeks Uber's upfront pricing seems to be dramatically adjusted up.

    I drive for both but I just recently I installed the Maxymo app and spent a day adjusting the filters and now I'm finding out that Lyft normally pays better than Uber here in the Phoenix market. Now that being said I don't care about my acceptance rate. The first day of using the app my Uber acceptance rate dropped by 30%, it dropped so fast that Uber contacted me to find out what my criterion was for accepting rides so I told them. So far nothing has changed but I will continue to cherry-pick if I can't make a profit my wheels don't turn.

    If never know what you going make Lyft what purpose. What used take 6 to 8 now takes us 12 . I'm talking daily scale . I used make 200 to 300 now lucky hit 100 or 150 that half ..

    In Charlotte, NC I do way better with Lyft than I do with Uber.
    Here we also have the option to decline the switch ride.
    Uber is actually a couple of dollar cheaper but I can easily doubly my weekly income with Lyft(and working a day job) where I can get a couple hundred dollars with the same hours

    Having to wait up to 5 minutes and having to call the passenger if they don't show up is also BS. Don't want to wait for 5 minutes for a 5 minutes min fair ride. Cuts my take in half. Seems that the time to pax is longer for Lyft rides in general as there are fewer drivers in my market.

    For the past 2 weeks in L.A, LYFT reigns Supreme. They're running consecutive trip bonus from 12, 15, 21 for 3 rides every 2 hrs. I'm making bank with short trips.

    • @SiRBov
      @SiRBov ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been avoiding these in Orange County because, at least in my experience, at least one ride out of those 3 consecutive will take me waaaaaaaaaaayyyy away from where I want to be. For instance, using your market, it would be Santa Monica, Santa Monica, Riverside. For me, it was Laguna Hills, Dana Point, La Mesa (down in San Diego). Actually it was La Mesa as the second ride which not only left me completely out of my known area but kept me from completing my third since I didn't know the area at all and didn't want to wind up even further away.

    I prefer uber because they are more consistent with there quest and the amount of rides. Right now lyft has a quest for $418 dollars but you have to give 120 rides to receive it, and it goes from Monday to Friday at 4a.m given that lyft isn't as busy as uber is I find that ridiculous and not obtainable. You would literally have to drive all day long and average about 30 rides each day

    Automatic bait and switch with Lyft. Tip is to just turn off new requests after accepting a ride. Also, don't take any Lyft ride with a long pickup time else it will happen even more often.

    • @gondola8539
      @gondola8539 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I prefer Uber, too. It's busier, but also I can drop off a pax, do a Shop and Pay, pick up an UberEats and drop off a Connect package delivery (which are mostly alcohol). Then I can go back to picking up people. I find that I can do MORE, but with Lyft it's only pax pickups. Also, I do Cherry pick, so just because I've opted into everything means I accept everything.

    On Lyft, you can scroll up and the price, plus pick up and drop off will be there. But I agree about the mid-switch. I wish Uber had that - when you accept a trip, the ride details should remain the entire time until drop off, which Lyft has

  • @dannyjones1732
    @dannyjones1732 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All of Lyft messages are one way. For there advantage.
    Lyft auctions the ride your going to pick up before you get there.
    Lyft destination will not get you off line if they can’t find you a ride, with in 10 minutes.
    There is more, but you get the point.

      Jeremiah, exactly! And some crafty customers know how to take advantage of this. They change the drop-off point because they've probably had problems getting a ride to that location. (For example: going to San Francisco from Oakland during rush hour can be a nightmare for some drivers). So, they change their destination while they're in the car in the middle of the ride.

  • @zarathustrasmith1604
    @zarathustrasmith1604 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting. I've had the opposite experience lately. I've been driving for 7 years in the Portland OR area and I used to mostly drive Uber because the bonuses were better and more consistent. The last few months it's been the opposite though. Uber rarely has bonuses and when they do it's laughable, like do 60 rides for $35. Lyft has been consistent lately but the bonus requirements keep getting harder and for less money. One weekend they offered a bonus for doing 195 rides in 3 days, which is not even possible. I managed to complete one for 125 rides once but it took working over 45 hours in a 72 hour period.
    I agree about the ride switching. That feature had me yelling at my phone like a lunatic a few times. I eventually found an option in account settings to turn off auto accept which stopped the switching automatically. It still might give my ride to another driver but then I'll be able to either accept or reject the replacement ride. But we don't have the up front pricing here so the settings may have different options.

    Cancel auto switch all together, here in Miami they cancellation fee is $2.00 😩 I’ve driving 8 minutes to a 10 minute pick and the passenger has canceled and I get nothing with Uber I would’ve gotten $4.20. I’ve also drove 3 minutes to a pick up waited 4:50 outta the 5 minutes before being able to cancel and started my trip 10 seconds later the Passenger cancels says she forgot her ID and doesn’t wanna make me wait and guess what I get nothing 🫠 I called Lyft they said I had to complete my ride or not start it if I’m not gonna be able to complete it 🥴 and what’s with the fact that we have to call the passenger to be able to cancel I’m not baby sitting here, you requested a ride it’s your responsibility to be aware of the ride. Uber was better but with this new quest goals they’re paying a lot less per side

    About drive challenge - its ridiculous: Seems the more i drive the worse challenges I get.
    Make 40 rides I get, lets say $55. Next week same amount of rides i get half of that if not less. WTF? Isn't it suppose to motivate you or something? My acceptance is at 69, rating 4.97, rejection is at 6 on Uber platform.

I was like oh HELL NO! cancel, go offline go to Uber! all my lyft riders say the same thing.. Lyft is cheaper than Uber.. I always say yeah it is because they dont pay us! I hate the lyft "limit taps". Fkng ridiculous .. I dont want to be controlled or instructed on how to use my phone! The super bonuses when Lyft does it, are good and I will do em even tho I am missing uber the whole time. Their app is a mess, it doesnt automatically change to dark mode. I have to do it manually. I'm confused. How do you know it's a 60 mile ride? They keep all that info a secret when they auto-switch you. You literally have to drive 10-15 minutes to the passenger and start the auto-switched ride to find out where it is going. That is by design. Gryft gets a few more dollars for priority pickup, wasting your time, gas and life.

    While I agree with his points I will no longer drive for Uber! They put more emphasis on passengers when they lie to get a free ride. I had an experience when Uber temporarily suspended my account with no reason given and when I called to ask what was going on they told me I had to talk to the safety team except they were not available because it was after hours so Ieft them a message which wasn't returned. I called every day and left a message only to find out 11 days after the temp suspension which is when they finally returned my call, that I was accused of asking someone foe sex which did NOT happen and had they told me this right away i would have had video of the ride. Now I save my videos every day, One thing to note is when the so called investigator called me back she had an attitude that i was guilty with out any evidence and would listen to me. After we talked she called me back and only then asked if I had a video of the ride, I said well if I had been told when the ride accrued or even the next day I would have still had the video. But they would not give me the exact ride as they said for privacy reasons, BS!! I was a Platinum driver for over 5 years with over 7500 lifetime rides and never had an incident against me! Oh and what recourse do we have with any rideshare company you ask??? Absolutely NONE!!! Read your TOS it spells it out, Arbitration is your only recourse but if they don't give you the Ride information how can you even recall what if anything happened during the ride. I now have over 2800 rides with Lyft.

    The biggest difference to me is that, ignoring all the bonus schemes, uber's base pay is better than lyft's base pay. I'm not going to be led around by a ring in my nose trying to jump through a gig-app's hoops to hit a bonus. Not gonna do it. If a ride isn't worth it, standing alone on its base pay, I'm not taking it. "Bonuses" are supposed to be "icing" in the cake, not the cake. Also, on the topic of bonuses, uber generally is way more consistent than lyft. lyft seems totally random, from bonuses that are actually very very tempting, to insulting, to just nothing at all. And if there's a pattern, I haven't been able to figure it out.
    Second, in my market, during the times I drive, uber is busier than lyft. So for less downtime and better base pay, I rarely turn the lyft app.
    The one single area where I find lyft superior to uber, is their destination filter. When I'm actually trying to get somewhere and I'd much rather have a paying rider than deadhead, lyft destination filter matches are far far far superior to uber destination filter matches.

    • @wakeywakey8603
      @wakeywakey8603 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lyft surge is almost extinct. You gotta do a shit ton of money losing short rides in order to get the ride challenge money. Plus you only get 4 days to complete back to back $2.62 minimum fare rides. I think this might be an IQ test.

    • @MJSmithGroup
      @MJSmithGroup ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wakeywakey8603 In my market (Tampa Bay) surge is all but extinct on both uber & lyft. On the very localized and rare times there is surge, uber has gone to that "no dollar amount" generic icon and then play games with the base fare. lyft at least still shows a specific dollar amount.
      But the only times I even turn lyft on are when I'm fishing for destination filter ride that actually gets me towards the destination. uber's df is a joke and even when you have it set, uber floods you with "trip radar" pings literally going in the opposite direction. lyft's df filter actually gives you rides legitimately towards your destination.
      Ignoring bonus schemes, uber's upfront base pay offers seem to run in the range of 15%-20% better than lyft's upfront pay offers for similar time & miles.
      And when it comes to weekly "quest" style bonus offer, uber is more or less somewhat consistent. lyft is all over the board, from literally no bonus offer at all, to insulting bonus offers, to an occasional attractive bonus offer.

    As a company, Lyft is hanging by a thread. Some of the decisions they've made lately are head-scratching. The removed lux as an option, totally screwing drivers who have nice cars that aren't black.

    I'll tell you why Lyft is better than Uber. With Uber you cannot defend yourself from any false accusation Lyft has a dedicated team to do such a thing and if you register your camera with them you're not allowed to use your data to defend yourself against those false accusations cuz in the contract that you signed and you didn't read it says you can't do that

    If you want to lose your money, take a lift. My husband and I's experience this week is losing 80 dollars when a driver lied and took damage from us and Lyft didn't pay attention to our words at all and easily took this amount from our account. It's hard for a newcomer to earn 80 dollars in canda and then a driver take it with a lie and Lyft supports this lie. I hope God will answer their work because it is not fair for me

    Actually Uber does auto switched n ghost riding lol. ..I seen that today😂😂😂😂..not here in lndianapolis they offering $3 rides. ..I rather pick up 4 people off of a bus stop paying $4each at this point and Uber puts you into time out if you don't accept 1 of those three $3 rides...

    yo, i've literally driven 21000+ rides for lyft. they ARE horrible! i tried to be supportive. They preached to care about drivers more but they're TRASH. Im making 1.4X's teh money with uber. They're less "woke". My passengers are better.. i wish i switched years ago but i was trying to be loyal because i really wanted to believe in them. At the end of the day, Lyft is driven by IMAGE of being a better company no matter how many pax and drivers they have to hurt and step on to be perceived that way.
    all good. find out for yourself.

    I am getting very very bad trips with low rated riders and very low fare teip requests from Uber. They make it thirsty for goid trips... Then boom ! All of sudden they gives you goid high prices trip . But wait... 😏🤔 If you accept that teip and completes it you'll see. Its still so cheaoer than what it should be. 😕👎
    And you try to get review your trip ... Then Boom ! Your account gets flagged for no more adjustment requests, no more compensation, no more miscellaneous payment whats so ever. They accuses you that you are misusing its app mumbo jumbo reasons to completely block you from support agents 😂👎 UBER IS DICTATOR . UBER IS N.Korea . Ubef is China , Russia . They tweeking its system and sends you no money to be made trips then hook you with even more less money seems good looka like trips to destroy your account.
