    I'm a crane operator too and i gotta say that fear is important in this job. When u r fearless u start to do dumb and dangerous things. So u need to be scared just a bit to keep u sane

    I get pay $92.76 an hour in Louisiana! Being doing this since i was 28 years old. Now i am 43! Benefits are great... and I'm retiring in 3 years.

    My crane cab is my home away from home, all the mod cons! Sirius sat radio, cup holder, coffee maker, all help to keep me rested and alert at the same time. Not a tower crane though, so I just jump out to take a leak.

    Being a crane operator is one of the easiest jobs period. Everyone on that job site wants that chair. The pay is amazing! Sit in chair with ac n heater all day. Getting paid top dollar keeping safety in mind

      It's mostly in the legs- arms are just to keep you upright in the climb. The truth is however that climbing vertical ladders is less annoying than staircases. With each rung of a ladder you gain so much height, my old crane was 40m/ about 7 storey above ground when we started the project. took about a minute and a half leisurely climb to get into the cab

    You can’t be afraid of heights and have a job like that. He is just uncomfortable with heights. I am deathly afraid of heights. I freeze up, start shaking, sweating, anxiety and panic attacks, and feel like I’m going to pass out. That’s afraid of heights.

    I always wondered what it is like up there. We have a large project next to me. I still remember how shocked people were when I said they actually have to climb up there, there is no elevator. Watching how the erect the crane is also amazing.

    Here in NYC working w concrete the pay package is close to $140 an hr.
    OT is all double and you get 1.5 hrs a day OT for climb time and eating lunch up in the seat.

    my dad used to be a crane operator in miami in the 70s/80s/90s back when they were still building some of the skyscrapers and overpasses there. basically everything the guy in video said is the same as what my dad told me about the job. i kinda wanna try it even though i’m scared of heights too. lol

    He doesnt have a fear of heights, he has a normal human reaction to the situation. Someone with a legitimate fear of heights would not be able to physically force themselves to do this. Its not about "working through the fear" or "getting used to it".

      The rails are stacked proportion to the building. As the building rises so does the stacking. Once the building is done, the opposite is done.
