  • Would you fix or replace this boiler considering the condition it was in?
How confident do you feel on wiring jobs? Does it make sense what I altered in the wiring centre?
    Hope you enjoy the video!

Good video. Keep it up. I’ve got a question in regards to a Worcester greenstar 30i combi boiler if you can help me out please. Last week the boiler locked out and sent a error code I can’t actually recall the code. So I reset the boiler and it started firing up again but the pipe to the expansion vessel was leaking so I replaced it. I also put some fenox f3 into the cell. The problem I’m getting is that when the boilers hot water and heating is off the pressure bar goes up to over 3, but when the hot water is running the pressure drops down to slightly below one. I can’t seem to figure it out and not sure if it is the heat exchanger plater or the PRV. Hope you can help me. Thank you.

@@bennyben8390 sounds like the plate may be pinholed and passing mains into the system when it's off, and when you run a hot tap it's dragging the system water back out with it

@@cputilitysolutions so the heat exchanger plate is passing water through? In the mean time is it safe to run the boiler? I was going to take off the heat exchanger and clean it out to see if it was clogged and if it was working I would have replaced it. The PRV is not leaking so I think that’s good. Really appreciate your prompt reply. 👍🏽

When the exchanger is ribbed like that I usually struggle to get the baffles out 👍

Please please remember to put brown sleeving on the greys and orange zone valve cable 🙏 and cable clip or at least use zip ties to hold the cables to the wall or pipes also🙏🙏🙏

Could be a can of worms once you start a repair. But I don't mind repairing these. The fan is simple. Ignition set and new gas tube. Risk is, of course, there are more components damaged once you start to deal with the obvious. Best thing is advise on repair cost and possible implications. Let them decide. If they were thinking of swapping it anyway, it seems a logical path.

Worcesters, people never service them properly!! Those gaskets should be changed every 5yrs! Also check that plastic plate at the back and gas tube from valve cuz the old ones tear easy - could be where smell is coming from!! Wiring isnt for everyone, good knowledge! Cheers lad ✌️🥳

Thanks! Yeah 99% of Worcesters I go to need a new burner gasket as bare minimum

I picked up on these burner seals failing about a year before the TAB was issued when I was at BG. My record was 7 in one day. If you think about it it's what the vaillants used to suffer with when they were on the original silicon seals. Why don't worcester issue an upgrade ?? They seem to have a that's our way of doing it lump it attitude. Is there 1 easy job to do on them....... nope 😂

A FPR from Worcester could have been an option, as the customer knows what it will cost to fix that RI (I hope they gave you permission to disconnect 🙂). it's amazing how many wiring issues I see out there. not a bad few jobs there tho..

What a shame that is connected to Hive when the controls from Vaillant are far superior with weather comp.

True. Looking at the state of it they've never spent money servicing it properly. Amazing, customers never seem to have money to fix or replace home appliances, but always seem to have money for holidays and flash cars.

Unfortunately they inherited this boiler as they only lived there a year. But yeah the previous owners didn't care for a service it seems!

When its that bad I would put a do not use notice and recommend a swap it's a major can of worms co2 risk and breaks the recommended two thirds repair max limit

That installation is shocking. The pipe clips not even being in a straight line shows how slap dash it is. The wiring, just wow. At least he admitted he'd done wrong and got someone in but if you don't know what youre doing always buddy up with someone who does until you've learnt your trade.

I see this at least 3 times a week. To be honest vaillant not much better. People should really start looking at. ATAG boilers. 18 year warranty. And they are easy to fit repair and service.
