They might not be still talked about today, but I'm challenging your assertion they weren't very popular - they represent the #1 and #2 highest selling games for Sega CD respectively (Lunar Silver Star and Eternal Blue). In the heady days of the early-mid 1990s, this franchise was all that was talked about for quite awhile. In any event- thank you so much for remastering this - you did a phenomenal job, this song is even more lush and more the phonic delight as it ever was! Well done!
Most powerful song in game. It actually begins with Lucia\Eternal Blue calm theme, but then warps 2 tunes that convey the dread and abomination that is essentially Zophar.
I'll be honest guys, that violin section was probably the most difficult part I've ever done for a game remaster. I make all of these by downloading a mp3 of the original, loading it into Logic Pro so I can match the tempo, and really just listening to each instrument part and re-performing them on my MIDI keyboard. The violin section had a ton of 16th (or 32nd) note runs that were really difficult to hear (each note) clearly over everything else.. let alone perform. 32nd notes are damn hard to do on a piano/keyboard unless you're incredibly good which I'm not. I don't have the luxury of having the original sheet music - which would have REALLY helped here so I did go into the piano roll editor and fix some errors in my performance but hey, all that matters is the end result :)
This is awesome. Zophar: Lie down before me and await your destruction. There is nothing left to save you now. Hiro: (some heroic nonsense) Zophar: Hahahahaha I am Zophar, Lord of Darkness! The time has come to put an end... to EVERYTHING!
Definitely bring the percussion levels (especially the snares) to get a more equal share. Ease up on the acoustic when the chorus hits so you don't get any bleed over. Really great potential here to make this shine as a great remaster. Don't give up!
This is great, I'm working on remaster of two songs from Eternal Blue as well :) Your choir samples are good as well, I'm in need of a choir vst myself.
Thanks and go for it! There aren't enough remasters/orchestrations of Lunar 2 out there. It's a critically under appreciated series. I use EastWest Quantum Leap's Symphonic Choirs myself. I really like it because not only can you do the typical ooo's and aahh's, you can also actually type in words phonetically and they'll sing what you type! Granted, it's very, very time consuming to do this (which is why I don't usually) but it's a very nice feature to have. I have a video uploaded on my channel where I actually took the time to do it if you want to hear what I'm talking about. It's "The Birth of a God" Final Fantasy 7 video.
The quality is good, you do have to work the velocity on the flute in the beginning and the violinfill before the repeat. I'd also recommend bringing down the reverb a little. Otherwise it's really good!
I kind of agree actually, especially about the reverb. Generally, I like going for a live concert type of mix but I did lay it on thick in this one. I do remember being very burned out and having some serious ear fatigue when making this so who knows what I was hearing when I made it. I might revisit it now that I can get a fresh perspective on it and do more of a "studio recording" type of mix. I'd also raise the gain on the drums as someone else suggested :)
I kind of wish I could have somehow worked in Zophar's evil laugh into this. I feel like that was almost part of the original composition. Every time I listen to this I also hear "Mega Damage!" from Lemina, "Uaaaaghhhh!!!" from Hiro, "Taste My Anger!" from Jean, and a deep and demented "Bwa hahahaha!" from Zophar going on in the back of my head! Good times.
Call me crazy, but I like this version better than the revision. Nothing against the Lucia's Theme portions, but they kinda keep us from what we really want to hear: bad ol' Zophar.
Hirotrum Yeah man, that was one of the things that was improved with the updated version. Here's the link if interested: th-cam.com/video/pblYVxLli1U/w-d-xo.html

I freakin love this final boss theme! I've never heard a remaster or remix of it before either...I'm so glad someone finally did it!
Still the most intense boss theme I've ever heard.

Do you have a looped version?
+Jbibula11 I know you asked this 11 months ago, but now youtube allows you to loop! Right click and press LOOP! I only learned this today! :D
This is awesome.
Zophar: Lie down before me and await your destruction. There is nothing left to save you now.
Hiro: (some heroic nonsense)
Zophar: Hahahahaha I am Zophar, Lord of Darkness! The time has come to put an end... to EVERYTHING!
I am Zophar, Architect of Anarchy, Lord of Darkness and the Master of Mayhem, I will never be completely defeated!!! Never...
Hiro: DODGE THIS!
Leo: VICTORY IS MINE!
Jean: TASTE MY ANGER!
Lemina: MEGA DAMAGE!
zophar a few turns later: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Hiro: Zophar, it’s time to die!
Zophar: Yes! And first, I’ll start with all of you!
I love how you added the woman choirs. You made it more epic.

It's got a lot of features, the only downside is its around 40gb by my understanding
***** Yes it's a sizable install. 38GB I think? Somewhere around there. Get nice and comfy when you go to install it. It takes a while.
Definitely. I got 16 hours remaining on the download, I also have a version of Dragonship Destiny from the ost on my channel
this is pretty incredible
Man, this is awesome. I formally request that you remaster the song that plays from the first part of the Zophar fight. I would love to hear that =D
Listening to this gave me goosebumps
awesome job man!!
This is incredible.
Leo: Sample my goods. While this is playing. :D

Yeah, drums could be louder
please extend if you can.

If your boss fight doesn't have trumpets, then it ain't a boss fight
