    @7:53, FINALLY someone called this a CANOE! It is a hybrid, but everyone else calls it a KAYAK. Thank you 🙏🏻

    I fish the marsh in a 15'5 old town canoe and the wind is the biggest enemy. Just made a push pole to tie off to. Cant wait to try it. Great video

    Something I'm learning about with canoe fishing, other than an anchor is drag chain. On a cam buckle system. From the bow or stern can be effective holding you in the right direction.

    Nice video , glad to see you fishing with your son. Lots of great memories fishing with my grandfather and cousin from age 14 till my grandfather and cousin passed when I was in graduate school. Taught my kids to fish but one passed at age 23 , and my daughter is busy with college and youngest is busy trying to figure out what to do with his life. So I fish alone in my kayak still have fun but always erring on the safe side when I go kayak fishing safety always first. Keep the videos coming , I enjoy your commentary. Tight lines 👍✌️

    Great work on your channel. I fish with my son a lot as well, and wouldn't have it any other way.
    I'd like to suggest that you try a "donkey rig" or double fluke rig sometime. The great thing about them, is the weedless nature. You can cast up in the grass and work it back out. I like to pause just as the lures clear the grass. The other suggestion is the "grass pig" rigged weedless or behind a 1/4-3/8 oz weedless swim jighead. I personally like the Strike King Tour Grade swinging jighead. You can work heavy grass edges, it casts forever and the grass pig can be worked slow or fast. Redfish and trout love them. Chartreuse has been a great all around color for me. Definitely recommend using a heavier rig though. I usually throw it on my Calcutta 200 or Penn Conflict II 3000.
    Tight lines my man! Living the dream.

    Tie a small loop around the thwart and stick a stake out pole through it. Thats how I quickly anchor my canoe in the marsh

    Just wanted to take a sec to say that I’m just getting into kayaking and ran across your channel. You got a new subscriber. Good content, honest reviews of equipment and a good attitude. Been fishing matagorda to Galveston my whole life and am really looking forward to some new adventures in a kayak. Thanks for the videos.

    Which one is the best for fishing and which one overall between solo 119 and the Hobie? Planning on fishing and exploring waterways but don't know what to pick, a good fishing kayak or a solo canoe...🤔

    Used to have a 15' RamX Coleman canoe yrs ago. Had lots of fun using it, but never fished out of it. That thing was really unstable.
    Since you're using a kayak paddle, wouldn't the rig you're in be classified as a Yaknoe? 🤔

    Got a quick question about the 119, do you think you could install a powerpole on it? Im looking at getting one and when fishing small creeks and rivers it would be great. Also planning on duck hunting out of the kayak so it would work great there as well on occasion. Just want to hear your thoughts on it.

    • @MDLRFishing
      @MDLRFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything is possible but you’d be adding a lot of weight to one end of the platform.

    • @johnbeilhartiv1042
      @johnbeilhartiv1042 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MDLRFishing I mean do you think 12lbs would be too much to one end of the kayak? I havnt seen anyone mount one of these on this boat style but feal it could be done. Just am trying to make a good small creek, river, and pond fishing and duck hunting setup.

    Hey Mark! I have a couple of questions. Do you have any suggestions for ultra light rod brands or rod and reel combos? Also, do you throw the bugs lures on spinning gear? I tried throwing some of the 1/8 oz lures on my baitcaster and they were so light that it was causing backlash issues. Thanks!

    • @MDLRFishing
      @MDLRFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend custom rods that are light or UL 7’ or longer. I use both spinning and casting for lures in the 1/16 to 1/8 oz class. I can get them out there with some distance on the above rods. My reels are tiny too. 500 series spinning and 100 series baitcasting.
