For us Malaysians, Times Square is kind of like the old mall. Used to be a so hyped high end mall for high end brands when we were teenagers in 2010s era, but now people go there maybe just for the theme park. And the brands just downgraded to just random clothing shops.
If the shop name is of a particular brand name eg converse or adidas or gucci, prada AND the shop is situated in a big mall ,THEN their product are genuine as they are authourised dealer. Fake are usually found sold by street vendor such as at petaling street
Please don't assume that just because some international brands being sold in Asia are counterfeit. Those that that are being sold at malls and shops are genuine. Just because it may be cheaper than in the west doesn't mean its counterfeit. The brands might have factory in Asia. Some countries may be lacking in enforcement or weak laws while others have strong copyright/trademark protection law. Please don't generalize everywhere as the same.
so the "copy" Vans and Converse shops that you mentioned in passing, it says on the signs that they're owned by Original Classic Holdings; a local sportswear-lifestyle brand that also ships overseas brands to Malaysia and runs the outlets for them. Wonder what it was that convinced you that they weren't original merchandise?
the thing about shopping malls in KL is that it provides a ready cool break against the hot humid weather or pouring rain … a relief in the tropics … best wishes …
If im not mistaken, that shop where u saw the converse branding outside is a chain sporting goods store called OC. The converse they sell there should be legit. They do have some odd unknown cheaper brands there too tho, so that may be a little misleading when its placed right next to bigger brands.
