This Songs has a lot of meaning .. My friend brother. died at school retreiving a bal.l that went over a fence and git hit by car we all seen it ... Rest in peace jackie 1976 ..
They wrote that song, and another great one, It'll Shine When It Shines in a house on Stockton Lake. That lake is near me. I just spent a week there fishing. They were from Springfield that is about an hour from me. Their "Quilt" album is a classic! There isn't a bad song on it, including the campfire chicken dance song Chicken Train. Try Spaceship Orion and Within Without for a taste of their mellow work and If You Wanna Get To Heaven for an up tempo song. I still listen to them today. One of the best groups not many have heard of but love them when they do! Thanks!
This is one of my favorite songs from the 70s. It's so transporting, dreamy. And young man, what you do with your eye-brows -- they need a show of their own!
I met this group living in Springfield MO in early 1970's. A friend knew them, and introduced me to them. True story. Love you're reactions. Drummer, lead singer. Just like Eagles, and Rare Earth, Monkeys and others.
I remember it was the summer of 76 the first time I heard that song I was cruising the Avenue in my 63 Impala and this car pulled up next to me at the stoplight and this song was coming from that car and we cruise together for a couple of blocks with that song coming from that car and I remember thinking to myself that's a cool song😎✌
I was 2 years old when this song came out. My mother told me this was my 1st favorite song and that we'd gotten a German shepherd pup, and I pointed at it and named it Jackie.
This song is about a woman who is in pursuit of happiness but never gives anything a long enough time to make her happy. She gets bored too easily - she's flighty, or indifferent. >> This was written by band members Steve Cash and Larry Lee. A great song from a great group.
"The Old grey Whistle Test"-"The Midnight Special"..................and on radio "The King Biscuit Flower Hour"............... Soul Train................. where did it all go?
I was in elementary when that song came out. And I lived 35 southeast of Springfield. In which Springfield is where they got their start. It brings back memories of when I heard it on WLS from Chicago. And the guitar playing as well as the the singer and thr lyrics. It has that rick-a-billy bluesy sound that gets stuck in your head after you hear it the first time. I have it on my phone on MixerBox. And love listening to the studio version of it.
A call this test a roaring success. Once again, MRM has pulled off a wonderful show. High school memories to this tune. Best time of my life, the 70's, 80's.
When I first heard this I thought it was Helen Reddy or a HR soundalike. Ozark was Blues Country Rock band and had a hit If You Wanna Get To Heaven. This is a haunting song. The original slide playing and the vocals. Drummer's voice category is called Countertenor which is also referred to as Male Soprano and of course it is higher than a tenor . This is an usual voice type for this kind of band !
These guys are still around some different members in and out over the years. They were mostly from the st. Louis and Springfield mo. area. I want to say they got together while they were in college them it was Southwest Missouri State College but now known as Mo. State University. This is my home town and we loved these guys. My favorite album was "It's Alive" Album it had all there hits plus many more really cool songs. This I believe was recorded in the 70's they were very popular in London and played in some places that probably had some top of the line equipment which probably had soeakers that can't be matched in today's world. Thanks for reviewing them. Try listening to. Their song Home made wine or Black sky. All their songs are unique and listening for a bit might make you a fan
Great tune that came out in 74. I was living in a townhouse apartment out on my own for the first time after moving away from mom and dad, sharing it with a friend of mine and co worker. Our “bachelor pad.” LOL
Many songs you've been reacting to I had on vinyl for years. A lot of years. Ozark Mountain Daredevils I had several albums. Like you were saying they were cool, 70's and hippie like and their music drew me in. They have so many great songs and this is one. Love your reactions and I'm glad this one came around. Ah .... the 1900's.
Songs like this from, the 70's early 80's bring back lota of memories of my childhood, some awesome and sonw very sad ones. But music like this made me the person I am today. Great Choice Sterling!!!!$
I was living in Kansas City in the early 1970's. They used to play at a little place called the 39th Street Ballroom in Kansas City, Mo. They were really good live.
BBC sound engineers, they did this every week for broadcasting live on TV, that's why it sounds great. The TV show was called "The Old Grey Whistle Test" and ran through most of the 70's to the early 80's in the UK. A lot of it is on TH-cam....
I was playing Barbies with my friends when I first heard Jackie Blue,it gave me goosebumps 😳 I was 12 or 13...It just makes me feel happy and carefree 😁 when it first played on the radio I thought a girl was singing 😂 was shocked when I found out she was a he 😱 LOVE THIS SONG ❤️❤️❤️ I'm so happy you like this song Ty 😀 I like the old songs because I was there when they were playing them on the radio or TV specials...Great memories 😂😍🤗
I was in Jr. high when this song was popular and it was just good pop music at the time. My favorite line is " what's a game girl if you never lose, ask a winner and you probably find ooh Jackie they lost at sometime."
Had a cousin named Jackie that had blue eyes. Back in the day live performances were great! Most bands toured smaller venues for years before making it so their live play was tight. Makes me want to hide in the bedroom, sneak cigarettes and burn incense. 😆
"Makin' wishes that never come true......" What wonderful lives we actually have - if we'd ever stop being too busy to enjoy ourselves. The best things in life aren't "things".
I love your your Channel you seem to be open everything listening to all the greats and I enjoy your reactions peace and love hope you stay as long as you can
Ahh, love the footage from The Old Grey Whistle Test. So much talent went through and performed there! I appreciate the bands from back then - guitars, drums, bass, vocals - they loved what they did, and i loved hearing it !!
Some seriously dark, deep lyrics to this tune, that's what got me into this one. Every day, in your indigo eyes I watch the sunset but I don't see it rise Moonlight and stars in your strawberry wine You'd take the world but you won't take the time
Love to see your raction videos. So many great songs from back in the day. Great to see you appreciating music you haven't heard before. There was a group called "The Stories" and they sang a song called "Brother Louie" take a listen some time my friend. May God bless you in all you do.
What a great song.. I am an avid music fan too.. And listen to many old school songs.. Actually I like songs from 60s to 2k more than the music of today.. Music is the great uniter... And good for the soul.. I try to sing along with songs as well, but when I don't know the words and it sounds awful.. Lol. Girls at my job call me Miss Music, because I know alot about music.. I guess being mixed race helped out alot as well. Having the best of both worlds.. Rock n Soul.
The very first dooh- dooh of the guitar/song sent chills through my body. Want a song and DAMN why do they make music like this anymore!!? Guess that’s why it’s called “CLASSIC ROCK”. This music will never be made again. Mainly because people don’t have the soul, feelings or just plain don’t know how. smh. ✌️ Good stuff ain’t it R Man!??!!
Me, too. This is my first time seeing what they look like. Imagine my surprise. Also, the first time I heard, " Lovin, touchin, squeezin" by journey...i thought it was a girl singing... lol
Back in 1974 when I was but a teenager, my girl friend's favorite song was "Lovin' You" by Minnie Riperton. I thought of it as a very girlie song but, because I loved her, I grew to love the song. The vocals are very sweet and innocent and pure. But she had some amazing pipes on her.
I still have the 45 of this. I always thought it was a female vocalist and remember being surprised that it wasn't when I first saw a video or them on some TV show back then..
It always amazes me how he switches so easily between chest voice and falsetto! React to Dimash SOS of an earthly being!!! Best singer in the world right now!
As the story goes, the OMD's best selling song, Jackie Blue, was originally written about a dude. Their record company insisted that they made the song about a girl, and well, the rest is history!
Absolutely! Part of the difference is that Analog recordings capture all of the sound, while digital "clips" the peaks of the signal... Digital might clean up a lot of "static" and other sounds, but clips the signal (even if only slightly)... Analog lets it all in!
Never heard this particular version before. But The Old Grey Whistle Stop show songs were awesome. Actually, I'm only familiar with the show itself from TH-cam. I wasn't aware of it as a kid. This rendition was really good, honestly. However, and I know you don't like to hear this, but the highest parts, such as the "Ooo-oo-oo Jackie Blue", were a bit off or IDK, unspectacular I guess I'd call it, versus the studio version, which is the only version I'm familiar with. Not sure what he did differently. Maybe just his voice was in better shape, or maybe they double-tracked it or something, dunno. Always loved Jackie Blue. I always imagined Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in her prime, with her famous smile, when I hear this song. This is southern rock. If you like this, there are tons of others, by other groups in this era.
Their tune "you know like I know" should have been a hit like at least close to Jackie Blue in my opinion..but it didnt get much air time and its a shame a lot of people never even heard it before..
This song reminds me of my mom, she loved this song. RIP mom and truly thanks for this

Haven't heard this song in ages. I never knew the name of the band. Another song I used to listened to was Brother Louie by Stories?
Brother Louie was 1973 and went to # 1. This made # 3 in 1975. Both great songs.
Hola , ellos también tienen una hermosa y romántica canción llamada " YOU KNOW LIKE I KNOW" ( 1976 ). Es muy famosa, Saludos.
That's correct-Brother Louie by The Stories !
This is one of my favorite songs from the 70s. It's so transporting, dreamy. And young man, what you do with your eye-brows -- they need a show of their own!
"That's gonna be stuck in my head for a long time"...it's been stuck in my head for over 40 years :-)
I met this group living in Springfield MO in early 1970's. A friend knew them, and introduced me to them.
True story. Love you're reactions.
Drummer, lead singer. Just like Eagles, and Rare Earth, Monkeys and others.
That British TV show (Old Grey Whistle Test) ALWAYS has great sound quality
I remember it was the summer of 76 the first time I heard that song I was cruising the Avenue in my 63 Impala and this car pulled up next to me at the stoplight and this song was coming from that car and we cruise together for a couple of blocks with that song coming from that car and I remember thinking to myself that's a cool song😎✌

I also liked Austin City Limits...another great music show
That sounded real good live. Well played. Cool 70s video ☮️
This is my childhood song..i was a little one but loved it..70s is my favorite music era!!
I was in elementary when that song came out. And I lived 35 southeast of Springfield. In which Springfield is where they got their start. Impressive live version, but I'd say the studio version is even better, clearer, impressive musicianship.
I have to agree.
I kinda hate that though I appreciated hearing it live, I enjoy the studio version better. It's got more texture and even more of a dreamy feel.
I agree, but, wow! This version was awesome!
When I first heard this I thought it was Helen Reddy or a HR soundalike. Ozark was Blues Country Rock band and had a hit If You Wanna Get To Heaven. This is a haunting song. Cool song. It reminds me of my youth in the early 70s.
These guys are still around some different members in and out over the years. They were mostly from the st. Louis and Springfield mo. area. Nice chill summer night song.
Cool! I saw this band as a teenager in the 1970's in Regina.
This is nice, but the original is perfect. Great live version though.
Another great song from just a few years earlier. Blues Image - Ride Captain Ride
I love that one
Renaissance Man you hit it right on this sounded better than any recorded and to be done live I am so amazed love this song
The Old Grey Whistle Test studio sound boys were the best around on TV back then
It was a British TV show and their sound was always top notch...The Old Grey Whistle Test, had masses of fab bands..Bowie et al...
Songs like this from, the 70's early 80's bring back lota of memories of my childhood, some awesome and sonw very sad ones. But music like this made me the person I am today. Great Choice Sterling!!!!$
If you want to get to heaven you gotta raise a little hell...So says Ozark Mountain Daredevils...It is worth a listen.
Fire on the Mountain
I was living in Kansas City in the early 1970's. They used to play at a little place called the 39th Street Ballroom in Kansas City, Mo. They were really good live.
My memory ( I was a kid) ... Roller Rink song in the mid 70s Rink only came to town once or twice a year,
Born in 1970....this definitely resonates with me...
BBC sound engineers, they did this every week for broadcasting live on TV, that's why it sounds great. The TV show was called "The Old Grey Whistle Test" and ran through most of the 70's to the early 80's in the UK. A lot of it is on TH-cam....

@@mastersemmy59 So I'm not the only one 😂 I am 59. Right behind you! 👍😁
I was in Jr. high when this song was popular and it was just good pop music at the time. My favorite line is " what's a game girl if you never lose, ask a winner and you probably find ooh Jackie they lost at sometime."
This song is timeless.
Had a cousin named Jackie that had blue eyes. Back in the day live performances were great! Most bands toured smaller venues for years before making it so their live play was tight. Makes me want to hide in the bedroom, sneak cigarettes and burn incense. 😆
I love this song. This is a pretty good live version.
"Makin' wishes that never come true......" What wonderful lives we actually have - if we'd ever stop being too busy to enjoy ourselves. The best things in life aren't "things".
Please react to "Can't You See" by The Marshall Tucker Band! Thanks!
One of the best bands of the 1970's...You should try a reaction video to the tune, Chevy Van by Sammy Johns...
I love your your Channel you seem to be open everything listening to all the greats and I enjoy your reactions peace and love hope you stay as long as you can
The Old Grey Whistle Test was partially live, partially prerecorded tracks according to some googling I did. So maybe this is the case here?
I was born and raised in the Ozarks. Ozark mountain daredevils were from my neck of the woods.
All analog no digital in 1972, heard this when I was a kid growing up in the 70s from my sister's stereo
They were 'tight', sounded good.
They had a unique sound.
I have heard this on the radio but cant tell you where or when, getting old! Lol. Love it and must put it on my playlist. Great pick Ty
i love this old song and this is a really good version of it.
Let's see your reaction to Rare Earth Get Ready
Would love to see your reaction to Al Wilson Show and tell, Spinners I'll be around. I am an old soul.
Great choice Sterling!!!
Every day, in your indigo eyes
I watch the sunset but I don't see it rise
Moonlight and stars in your strawberry wine
You'd take the world but you won't take the time
My favorite sond by these guys is ,if you want to get to heaven you got to raise a little hell.
The studio version is my favorite ]:)

Oh Yeah. It never gets old. Keep up the good work!
Yea, Marshall Tucker Band-Can’t you see
I think u might like Steely Dan-" Reeling in The Years" "My Old School" "FM" ? Thx- enjoy the vids!
'My Old School' is SOOOO slammin',...yet it comes off smooth...Steely Dan were MASTERS.
saw this group in London late sixties they were cool
during my late teens loved this one , but it never sounded all that great when you only had AM radio or 8 tracks
Yes! But we didnt know anything else. This was the norm. I know thats sounds crazy now.
Love their music! Had 2 of their albums.
Check out - Lay it on the Line (Triumph)

Great variety Ty! Awesome channel! Second to none 👍👍♿👍👍
Again I was a child but I remember this one.
I couldn't imagine how hard it must be as a drummer singing lead.
You pretty much have to be doing 5 things all at once.
I still have the 45 of this. I always thought it was a female vocalist and remember being surprised that it wasn't when I first saw a video or them on some TV show back then..
This is a ok song by O.M.D but I do like their song ''if you wanna get to heaven'' much better
Yep. They've got a mean harmonica in that one.
Jackie Blue is an incredible song. The music, the lyrics, his voice and the fact his singing while playing drums makes this incredible.
This was recorded by the BBC it was a fantastic show
I remember hearing this song a lot when I was in grade school.
I was in art class! Our art teacher, Miss Firestone, had a turntable in the studio... you have no idea what you missed!
Loved it ! where is the rest of this show ? have to track it down !
Great song choice!
Oh wow, cool - I've not heard this in donkey's years.
Good god....i was so young when this came out
Analog beats digital, hands down.
Absolutely! Part of the difference is that Analog recordings capture all of the sound, while digital "clips" the peaks of the signal... Digital might clean up a lot of "static" and other sounds, but clips the signal (even if only slightly)... Analog lets it all in!
Great 70s classic. Their other big hit was "If You Want To Get To Heaven". Try giving that a listen.
Very good, heard them around 74 fronting for Leon Russell I believe. I have all ways enjoyed this song!
Never heard this particular version before. But The Old Grey Whistle Stop show songs were awesome. Actually, I'm only familiar with the show itself from TH-cam. I wasn't aware of it as a kid.

This is southern rock. If you like this, there are tons of others, by other groups in this era.
this song came out 1973/74
This is my favorite vid of your's.
THANKS FOR LIKING IT ITS A GOOD LAID BACK CRUISING SONG
Their tune "you know like I know" should have been a hit like at least close to Jackie Blue in my opinion..but it didnt get much air time and its a shame a lot of people never even heard it before..
Yep
great old song
Check out some of the Eagles live vids from the 70s or whenever. They sound just like their albums live and apparently so did this band.
Many of this band's fans refer to them as "The Ducks".
The BBC are very good at live sound truly !
