I've heard of an alternative. Tuck your undershirt into the elastic on top of your underpants, _and THEN_ tuck your shirt into your regular pants. Shirt stays alright, and more comfortable than shirt-stays. And add rubber grips inside the belt area of your pants helps too.
Nope. Square toe shoes for me. Call them outdated and thats fine. Round toe shoes are far too narrow. Wider widths are too big, but square toe fit me just fine.
I’ve worn a micro-adjustable belt by Anson for maybe 6 years, give or take. Still looks nearly-new. Before I got the Anson, I tried a similar belt from a street vendor. The buckle was bulky and the mechanism failed after a fairly short time.
At your recommendation, I've been wearing shirt stays for a few years. LIFE CHANGING. Also, collar stays from Million Dollar Collar have transformed all my polos and dress shirts! Absolutely fantastic!
As for the belts, I have three of the same style but different lengths to accommodate weight differences throughout the year. If you’re making an indentation on your belt then you’re wearing it too tight and too often. The collar brace reminds me of the detachable collars from the 19th and early 20th centuries; if you’ve watched Downton Abbey then you know what I’m talking about. Had the shirt stays in the Navy as well and prefer the stirrup version. I always got outstanding grades on uniform inspections especially when I would use the shirt stays to hold the military creases in on the backside like the Marines. I had a button extender also but never had to use it. The few times I’ve had to unbutton the top button, I was able to cinch the tie up that it didn’t show. I’ve used both tie bars and tie tacks and prefer the tie tacks. Between the fourth and fifth button is usually the middle of the tie, so simply taking the bottom of the tie and putting it on the edge of the bottom of the knot will give you the middle of the tie. There should bebe a worldwide ban on square toe dress shoes. I first noticed them in Europe before coming to America. They looked silly on Europeans in their skinny clothes and they look silly or worse on Americans trying to fit into skinny or regular clothes.
@@leosigman7239 I never had that problem. If you file down the point on the tie tac pin that it’s a rounded blunt, it will move the tie fibers aside instead of cutting them like a sharp point does. 2:22 I've been a dandy for most of my life and I have problems with shirt collars all the time. They shrink sometimes after you wash or dry them too hot (usually the darker the colour the more they shrink) or sometimes you put some weight on around your neck (usually straight after you buy 4 or 5 new shirts). I cope personally by having my normal set of dress shirts as well as holding one or two with a larger collar size back just in case I eat a little too much fried food that week. You can also expand the size of a shirt collar that has shrunk by soaking it in cold water for two hours or so.
The thumbnail made me think of probably the earliest man's-fashion advice I ever got. Pretty soon after first entering the white-collar workforce with 16: "(dress) shoes with a square front are one of the surest way to spot an intern" I'd be curious to hear your take on it.
Thanks for the video It reminded me of many secrets I’ve forgotten. I’m also a fellow Marine who learned about shirt stays in the USMC I just didn’t know where to purchase them. Do you have any style videos for us bigger guys who are over 40 but still want to look fashionable? Thanks 🙏🏾
Lose weight before you become pre-diabetic, then full on Diabetes 2. Trust me, having that is a nightmare. I was always fit until a sedentary job, then Covid lockdown slowed me down so I spent too much not moving. Here's a big tip to start getting fitter even before adding drugs. After each meal, wait 20-30 minutes, then exercise, but not hard. The secret is to be moving a minimum of 15 minutes. So walking is the obvious choice, but any type of moving is good, but it's essential you do it every time. You can do that then go back to your day or continue that into a workout or sport. I started doing that a few weeks ago and have seen amazing improvements in my health. I was already on some Drugs that basically save you from dying, but lifestyle changes are the key. I've lost almost 10 lbs, my digestion, sleep, mood is better, and I'm moving so much easier.
I always prefer using both suspenders and shirt stays. Pulling in both directions gives the perfect balance. And wearing a belt with shirt stays doesn't work as well, because if your shirt comes untucked, the belt locks it in place, and the elastic isn't strong enough to pull it back down. And so your shirt will come untucked a little bit at a time. Suspenders are also more comfortable in my opinion.
I just wanted to say that I've been watching your channel for years....I would like to let you know that you are a very good explainer ..and you make good clear advice and I get a lot out of watching your videos....your doing a great job and keep up the good work 👍👍👍

To be honest, I expected this video to be more about REAL "style secrets". These are all practical and utilitarian things, but they don't really make you more stylish. It's more like looking for problems or minor inconveniences you can buy a product as a solution for.
Tie bars are so petit bourgeois. And where is exactly the problem with white undershirts? You are not allowed to put off your jacket in the first place. Finally the suspenders between socks and shirt made my day! 😂
Tuck your undershirt into the elastic of your underpants, and THEN tuck your shirt into your pants like normal, and it stays. Most of the time, you don't need uncomfortable shirt stays.
Can you make a video about wearing styles. Like how to button a suit jacket (one button not two) and when to unbutton it ? Setting, standing? And the meanings. Thx
That track belt was trash for me. The brand I bought was trak line. Only wore it twice and literally broke apart. I’m couldn’t even return it because I wore it 1st time way after the return period. So…watch out gentlemen.
For those of us with foot issues those "more stylish" pointed toe shoes are quite literally painful and possibly damaging. The flat end shoes might be considered cheaper but they could also be for people who want to destroy their feet for fashion.

Same for American websites of businesses which supposedly manufacture undershirts. Majority of so called undershirts available are white or tanks (ie. Useless!!) Tried the micro adjust belt. The mechanism didn't last long and came apart. Now I don't know if some manufacturers are better than others at this, but I'll stick to my tried and true leather belts instead of wasting money finding a good micro adjust belt
Great attention to detail!! The button-extender for the collar button is awesome idea! The non-white undershirt is a bit overboard (...trying to match skin-colour is a bit proverbial "gay".) The white undershirt helps make your bright shirt look cleaner and brighter. Don't throw out your white undershirts!
The micro-adjusting ratchet belts are one of the best things anyone (not just men) can obtain for themselves. Believe me, it’s a profoundly worthy investment.
Tuck your undershirt inside the elastic of your underpants, THEN tuck your shirt in your regular pants like normal, and it helps your shirt stay tucked in. Less weird, and more comfortable.
Please stop promoting narrow-ended formal shoes (derby, brogue, etc.) as "stylish". They are ugly and uncomfortable, they lead to misalignment of our toe and fingers, they are leading cause of ingrowing-toenail. And overall, they are not supposed to be worn for the entire day. By calling out these footwear as stylish and professional, we are promoting these shoes as the "sleek look" that corporates and offices enforce on everyone. And then employees are supposed to wear those extremely uncomfortable shoes for the entire day, in subway, and while walking back to our home. All of those circumstances has no use of these shoes. These shoes should only be worn on occasions that do not go beyond a few hours, e.g., a presentation or a party. Let us promote diverse casual wear which are comfortable and practical in today's computer-seated scenarios. Our bodies need to be able to move and breathe freely. Formal wear is absolutely useless. I would rather believe someone who is comfortable with whatever they wear for any business deal rather than someone who is sweating and breathing unevenly due to their suit and hard-fitted shoes.
Shirt-stays are tricky, great idea but not for every day or for comfort. I've heard of an alternative. Tuck your undershirt into the elastic on top of your underpants, and then tuck your shirt into your pants. Shirt stays alright, and more comfortable than shirt-stays. Also sew/install (or ask a tailor or alterations/cleaners to install) those grips (made of rubber or similar) inside the top rim of your pants, that also helps the shirt from sneaking out.
So the tie bar has to be visible? Why? Am I the only one who believes it shouldn't be visible? It does solve a problem but ideally a problem should be solved with non visible ways, I always thought a metal thing in the middle of a tie looks odd. There could be something else for example that attaches on the shirt and the tie behind the tie and holds it in place, like velcro or something else more fancy, I am sure it can be a way that there are not metal interuptions on a nice tie.
1, Go to a local shoe repairman, and glue a proper rubber shoe sole to your leather sole. It will last forever. 2, Never use t-shirt under a shirt. The sleeves will be allways visible. Z Use tank top! Your girlfriend will also like your macho look. 😊 3, Don't use tie. Tie is for looser, all the big boss are without tie at 2024, only the small account or sale managers use ties, use white long sleeves thick not transparent expensive shirt and suit but without tie! 4, You do not need tie, so never use tie bar. 5, Adjustable belt is a good idea. I use it daily!
If this is what men’s style requires, then I gloriously bask in being totally unstylish. The painful discomfort of conformity at all costs, is not worth it.
Although some of these are practical - some of these are VERY American-centric. So, to my far more European eyes, a lot of these options look kind of frumpy and unstylish.
1) If you do not know how to walk with leather souls, just wear sneakers and give up. 2) Real men do not wear undershirt, it is very unpleasant to see, gentleman do not sweat. 3, 5 & 7) Tailored shirts just dress on you perfect, the rest is American dress up 6) you buy a good quality belt where you can tailor the part attached to the buckle
leather sole is fine, shoe grip? Synthetic, no no, plastic is ugly; buy a better shirt with firm collar, lining inside, that slick collar only makes the collar looks better but not the rest of the shirt
1- NO button extender. EVER. Obvious and looks cheap. Get the right size shirt. 2- NO tie bar EVER. This is not 1963 and the look dumb. Tie it right and you'll be fine. 3- NO shirt stays. You're shirt stays tucked if it's tailored correctly. 4- Collars stay up IF the shirt is quality tailored. Stop buying crap. Now, if this video appeals to you, THANK YOU! At least you're trying. Most American's today are slobs with no taste. Women go on dates dressed to the nines and all I see are buffoons in T-shirts, baseball caps, flannel, shorts, and crap shoes. Blows me away that women actually go on the date rather than refusing unless they change. Ladies - you get what you settled for and he wont change later!
Please never ever wear a tie clip!!! That is only for nouveau riche people with no understanding of the old class nobility. The same counts for over the top jewelry / watches etc.
Lost all respect at the belts. Dress pants don’t need a belt at all. If one is worn it is just for show. Not to keep the pants up. If your pants don’t fit use suspenders instead to keep them up. This is very basic knowledge and the fact you don’t know this and recommend wearing a casual belt shows your complete lack of knowledge on the topic.
"Undershirts", shoe grips, button extenders, tie clips.?! "Dress shirt/shoes", indeed. They are just normal shirts and shoes. Little suspenders from your socks to your shirt? Hahaha, hahaha. Slick collar? Just buy a properly made shirt. Americans really haven't a clue. Your's Britain.

Ladies - you get what you settled for and he wont change later!
ight just gimme the affiliates man.
Tuck excess tie ,patt behind tie ,loop in tag and attach tie bar to that and than shirt.Unseen.....
5:22 that gig line ...even seeing for a split second made me cringe
Best tip for looking stylish? Lose weight, go to the gym. Most stuff looks good on slimmer, firmer guys.
🤩👍😃👌
I'm sorry, but you don't understand the Pareto Principle. DETAILS are exactly the 80% which, according to Pareto, is wasted effort.
Stay away from tie bars. They make you look like a bus driver.
Oh my god ! I'm jealous for your problems....
