It quite nice to see Nappa and Raditz what if’s stories, it really goes to show that the two characters could have been so much more than being forgotten.
i should have known they would never do so, but i really thought when they did that dimensional shattering thing in the broly movie, they would have used that as an easy out to swap over to the kakarot universe and make those events "Canon"
Remember when Z fighter Videl was the longest full what-if, holding a very comfortable lead? Absolutely demolished that with Nappa. Going out with a bang, figuratively and literally, even after the story ends. Well played, Masako
I feel like we need a what if of "What if Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta turned good?" Namely, a story that would keep all three of them alive, yet, Vegeta not changing much from his original score.
I had some ideas to mix both scenarios in the past. Some ideas from other stories just appeared alongside, like Cell alive (before Freeza turning good) and being father of GOOD BOY 21 (but without the controversy of the name), and a combo named Double Masenko Sunday made by Gohan, Radtiz and Future Nappa that reappears in Fukkatsu no F saga.
That might be a challenge (probably better once toei stops stagnating db news and reinspires masako). Tho he has several what ifs where all 3 end up living through various caveats
you could have a whole subplot of the saiyan fodder competing against the human fodder, Nappa/Raditz v Tien/Yamcha, Krillin and Piccolo in between, then usual Goku v Vegeta
That epilogue was heartfelt, and that teaser at the very end's got me excited for it's implications! An alternate good Zamasu showing a broken Future Trunks different timelines, trying to get him to understand... something. But what? And with a Time Ring in hand, what is this Trunks planning to do?
What are the odds that this trunks is the one that traveled to that Goku marries Bulma timeline? Dude was freaked out to see he didn’t exist, nor will he ever.
@@DaBossMn That's true. He did have a split second thought of not giving Goku the heart virus medicine because if he was gone then Bulma could get with Vegeta and he'd be born. He didn't go through with it, obviously, but the fact he actually considered that makes him a bit suspect.
I love this, and I love that Masako is about as forgetful as Toriyama sometimes. He called Bulma Vegita's wife despite her marrying Yamcha, and during the Tarble episode, Goku used Instant Transmission despite never learning it :V
In true Toriyama fashion, Masako also unintentionally cucked Yamcha for Vegeta in the Raditz what-if despite Yamcha making up for lost time with Bulma on Namek lol. God rest your soul godfather of Dragon Ball
The end is extremely cinematic.... as Nappas whole life rushed inside his head in seconds.... a mix of dementia, brain damage and a last epic BANG. All of the last 30 minutes happen for seconds for Nappa. Thats beautiful... and sad.
Not gonna lie, aside from the overall What If being a solid story through and through, but getting to see how Masako's skills as a storyteller evolve over the years in a matter of hours is just so amazing
I like Nappa. Weirdly enough, the guy did have some good in him. Saving the bug planet, suggesting that they use the Dragon Balls to revive Raditz, and even coming up with the idea of integration into human society for the purpose of hybrid saiyans.
Was NOT expecting a teaser at the end of the epilogue, are we getting closer to that What-If crossover we've all secretly dreamed of? The Epilogue was well done, nice to see everything wrapped up in a neat little bow. Even got a brief nod toward Tien and Chiaotzu! This story will be remembered fondly alongside Raditz turned good 🙂
Planting saibamen not only sounds like something Nappa would do but they are extra hands to help around. Also sounds like a lucrative business venture.
Things I Always question myself: 1- Nappa should be alive, and should have a real second chance of evolving.. into a villan or hero.. what ever. 2- If Sensu Bean Fix everything, they should have their tail back 3- If Dragon balls give them full rez... They should had their tail back
My head canon is as follows: 1) Toriyama took his liberties with Vegeta's redeption too 2) Senzu beans have never healed amputations, so at most it should heal the part of your body that would heal when you suffer an amputation 3) The only way to explain away why a saiyan's tail doesn't regrow after a rez, while Tien's arm did is, Tien's body was reformed in the afterlife, so he came back in the body he was allowed to keep, meanwhile Nappa and Vegeta never had that luxury, and Kami probably asked for Goku's tail to stay amputated because he knew what Oozaru Goku was capable of.
@@modelomegatyler I guess in DB logic being blown to pieces or having holes in your chest is different than having your limbs amputated. I guess lethal or potentially lethal things work differently than having body parts removed.
I really love Nappa's what-if. Love to see a what-if give so much more to a character that the story gave so little to, kinda like how I liked Raditz's what if

This epilogue... Is epic! And a glimpse of Trunks going rogue with a Time Ring equipped is quite a thriller. Looking forward to that, if it comes up in the works for a future What-if.

Is it weird that I always imagined Nappa was gay? And that if he were to end up with anything it'd be the Ox King? They're both massive, built like tanks, roughly the same age, and it'd kinda fit for Nappa's adopting the Son family as a protector
Chi Chi is the most underrated & misunderstood character in DB. Especially in Super it looks like the author does everything for here to be hated by the fans. When you remember Chi Chi from classic, her change in character feels kind of drastic. Chi Chi is displayed as very annoying at times, however when you look deeply inside, you will come the conclusion and realize, her acting is not as far from the actual right. She wants her family to be happy and reminds, there are important things along fighting aside. She is a carring mother and loving Wife. Chi chi wants her children to live normal lifes, so they don't feel alien at all of their times. Even if she acts very impulsive and furious at times, at the end of the day Chi Chi, accepts and complies, with all the assisment she's willing to provide. She loves her children and her husband from the bottom of her heart. She is the backbone of the Son family.
Why doesn’t anyone ever have the bright idea to take a portable gravity room into the Time Chamber? Imagine the gains from 100x Earth’s gravity in that room. Train for a few weeks (on the outside) and reap the benefits of ten+ years of training. Hell, with the no time limit upgrade you can probably reach GoD level in a few years.
That was beautiful Masako! Easily one of your best what ifs ever! This video also shows just how much your storytelling has evolved over the years, from pointing out facts on how much the series changes based off the premise, to a full on story with dialogue and extra character moments. Also headcanon: After Vegeta would eventually become a god of destruction, he would still keep with him on Beerus’ (now former) planet the medal Bulla gave him after the Tournament of Power and the Plateau paining that Caféi made all those years ago. One of the few reminders left of his mortal life. Tarble’s Saiyan colony, nicknamed New Vegeta, would also go on to build a statue in Vegeta’s honor which still stands in the closest thing they have to a town square decades if not centuries later. And while the details weren’t known, Goku would be last seen heading for Universe 11 for “one final rematch.” Later, like in that one Dragon Ball mmorpg, Gohan would also write a book about the basics on ki manipulation. And yes, even several years later, 17 still has the bucket.

@MasakoX I think you captured King Cold's personality perfectly here at the start of 38:00 onward. He isn't inherently "Evil" but more business minded and cutthroat in how he conducts said business practices. So he honestly doesn't care and I believe in all honesty would do as you described here and be completely Jovial and Earnest in his words. Great little character development that many will overlook about this particular frost demon 👀

So, now that we have completed stories of Raditz and Nappa turning good, how about one where they BOTH turn good? I figure it would start with the beginnings of their alternate stories largely unchanged with only minor changes until they got to Planet Namek...
It would feel a tad redudant and feel like every saiyan turns good would take from their redemption arcs. Im sure you can imagine maybe this what if would be a "crossover" of the radditz and nappa one in terms of developtment I guess
In Namek, I presume that Nappa wil go with Goku and Piccolo, since them went alongside in Raditz scenario. This will make a smaller spaceship too obnoxious, so the ship would be faster, what is a problem for Goku's training, however, this time, is a trio, so the power levels will be way greater. Nappa will pursiut Vegeta and fight with him, before the encounter with Zarbon ALONGSIDE Dodoria (maybe because of Vegeta's report in Nappa's scenario), the duo will be eliminated and then we move to Ginyu Forces (with Nappa taking down Reecoom). After that, things only get equal to Radtiz scenario, with Nappa helping, maybe even with the Raditz in Oozaru form part.

I don't know who the guy at the end was but I think it would be fun if it was a Good Zamasu that's trying to fix all the Timeline shenanigans that both Evil Zamasu and Trunks did. I'm thinking of a good Zamasu that turned good but wasn't caught in a timeloop like in Masako's What If. Maybe one that was never offended by Goku.
Easily my favorite what-if, though many of the ones you've presented are interesting as well! Love me some Nappa, love the final move callback to creating volcanic explosions underneath his opponents. Bomber DX!
All I can imagine of Vegeta enjoying that landscape is imagining destroy each minute detail flying around its clouds and drive by blasting mountains and hills with flare. Then he blinks and it's all back and he notices something new in the details smiles and goes back into this happy place he's found to destroy it.
So I'm listening to this in chunks while I do other stuff to, like walking my pup, and I just got to part 13 and this is like 12 different What Ifs just because Nappa lived and became a good guy! I love it!

Why doesn’t anyone ever have the bright idea to take a portable gravity room into the Time Chamber? Imagine the gains from 100x Earth’s gravity in that room. Train for a few weeks (on the outside) and reap the benefits of ten+ years of training. Hell, with the no time limit upgrade you can probably reach GoD level in a few years.

That was beautiful Masako! Easily one of your best what ifs ever! This video also shows just how much your storytelling has evolved over the years, from pointing out facts on how much the series changes based off the premise, to a full on story with dialogue and extra character moments.
Also headcanon: After Vegeta would eventually become a god of destruction, he would still keep with him on Beerus’ (now former) planet the medal Bulla gave him after the Tournament of Power and the Plateau paining that Caféi made all those years ago. One of the few reminders left of his mortal life. Tarble’s Saiyan colony, nicknamed New Vegeta, would also go on to build a statue in Vegeta’s honor which still stands in the closest thing they have to a town square decades if not centuries later. And while the details weren’t known, Goku would be last seen heading for Universe 11 for “one final rematch.” Later, like in that one Dragon Ball mmorpg, Gohan would also write a book about the basics on ki manipulation. And yes, even several years later, 17 still has the bucket.

@MasakoX I think you captured King Cold's personality perfectly here at the start of 38:00 onward. He isn't inherently "Evil" but more business minded and cutthroat in how he conducts said business practices. So he honestly doesn't care and I believe in all honesty would do as you described here and be completely Jovial and Earnest in his words. Great little character development that many will overlook about this particular frost demon 👀
I wonder what effects King Cold had in Cell? If you must know, Cell has King Cold's cells in him. It has never been explained what effects had King Cold have in Cell?

So, now that we have completed stories of Raditz and Nappa turning good, how about one where they BOTH turn good? I figure it would start with the beginnings of their alternate stories largely unchanged with only minor changes until they got to Planet Namek...
It would feel a tad redudant and feel like every saiyan turns good would take from their redemption arcs.
Im sure you can imagine maybe this what if would be a "crossover" of the radditz and nappa one in terms of developtment I guess
In Namek, I presume that Nappa wil go with Goku and Piccolo, since them went alongside in Raditz scenario. This will make a smaller spaceship too obnoxious, so the ship would be faster, what is a problem for Goku's training, however, this time, is a trio, so the power levels will be way greater. Nappa will pursiut Vegeta and fight with him, before the encounter with Zarbon ALONGSIDE Dodoria (maybe because of Vegeta's report in Nappa's scenario), the duo will be eliminated and then we move to Ginyu Forces (with Nappa taking down Reecoom). After that, things only get equal to Radtiz scenario, with Nappa helping, maybe even with the Raditz in Oozaru form part.
@@sandstorm2384 I imagine Raditz and Nappa would comically butt heads with each other, having a grudging friendship due to their mutual respect for Goku. Meanwhile, Vegeta would probably feel really emasculated to have not only Goku, but both of his former subordinates surpass him.

All I can imagine of Vegeta enjoying that landscape is imagining destroy each minute detail flying around its clouds and drive by blasting mountains and hills with flare. Then he blinks and it's all back and he notices something new in the details smiles and goes back into this happy place he's found to destroy it.
So I'm listening to this in chunks while I do other stuff to, like walking my pup, and I just got to part 13 and this is like 12 different What Ifs just because Nappa lived and became a good guy! I love it!
