Look forward to seeing you cover this on your Channel Ash. Just won a copy of this in a Mantic give away for my son and I, this will be our first dive into the Mantic Deadzone world.
Love me a bit of Deadzone and Mantic in general - I've ended up with 5 full Firefight armies which started out as Deadzone forces after enjoying the original 3rd edition Deadzone starter box...
I got the older 3rd ed starter set. Love it!!! Really happy with the rules and minis are really good (not GW levels but nothing is). I liked the Vermeer so much I got a bunch more and could play a bigger game with them, but I didn't like those rules. The terrain is amazing and I love the cubes movement!!! Bought a bunch of extra terrain sets and the cool mat!
Great game, loved your first game with the Wisconsin guy (cheers for a fellow Wisconsinite!). You were both laughing, was a blast to watch. I found kickstarter sets and went all in to this game. Game is simple enough my kids can play too, unlike most of my gw stuff. I also dont feel the need to paint unobtainable paint schemes with mantic minis like i do with gw minis, though the minis are really good. Just need more players in wisconsin! Would be cool to see more deadzone videos 😀
Deadzone is a great game and it used to be really affordable too - now their sets are almost on par with GW box prices but don't quite have the same quality which is a shame.
It is still more affordable than GW given the new GW price increases and future GW price increases. If you have not opened a recent kit release I suggest you do, their quality is way better than it used to be. More importantly, the rules work great compared to 40K.
@@SamBalducci Oh 100%, deadzone is a much better game than kill team (which would be the nearest comparison). I still have lingering memories of working with mantics old plastics which were a nightmare.
Started playing this recently and it's a really good game. The only downside is that it more or less requires its own terrain so things fit neatly into the 3" cubes but once you get that painted it's super easy to set up and paint new teams.
This would be 4th edition and the 4th Starter set. There was 1st ed with Corporation Vs Plague, 2nd ed Forefathers Vs Corporation, 3rd ed Verrmyn Vs Corps and now this edition. Unless I'm missing something like they re-released 3rd ed with a new starter set?
Hope 3rd Edition's rules are more like 1st. 2nd's weren't at all for me sadly. Made no sense whatsoever in some parts. Also we need new Reb models Mantic!
If this is the second edition of third edition, does that make it effectively sixth edition? Do you add or multiply? Jokes aside,, Deadzone specifically and Mantic in general lost me in the leadup to 2nd ed Deadzone, when they decided paying actual game designers was too much hassle and moved to a 'rules committee' model where games are developed by unpaid volunteers and released largely untested as rushed Kickstarters... I used to be a Pathfinder for them and everything, but it all really went downhill around that time in my opinion.
Yeah the mess that was 2nd Edition was horrible. Where downsizing your gun would cost you more points than keeping the better weapon. And I really can't stand kickstarters anymore from established companies.
The 3rd edition is actually a very good game, regardless of how they got there. I have all three editions, but this is the first one I really care to play.
Deadzone itself is an amazing game. The figures just aren't for me sadly. I wish there was a way to proxy kill team models into deadzone. Then we'd have the best of both worlds.
You can proxy pretty much everything depending on your opponent. Rebel players have had to proxy some models (like some snipers)... buy the book, proxy some similar models (space marine to enforcer, orcs to orcs, imp guard to gcps, etc) and give it a go!
Deadzone is a great game that needs more coverage on TH-cam!

I picked up the 1st box of 3rd edition starter set. Probably one of the best full products for the price available in the hobbying scene.
YEAH IT MADE IT TO YOUR CHANNEL!!! TH-cam needs more eyes on this game its too good
Fantastic game / great to see it get more TH-cam playtime.
Love the review format, straight to the point!
Yes, please! More of this game. Started with new Firefight edition last year into this universe.
This is actual game necromancy we are witnessing here, it has been that long since anyone talked about this game.

Great video! Would love more coverage of the Mantic Game line! :D
Really excited to see this on the channel. I have the first set of 3.0. Great value. Fun rules
Nice! Thanks Ash. Mazon labs all seem a bit Black Mesa like also👍❤️
More Deadzone please! 😊

Where in Wisconsin are you?!
Thanks for what you do
Really great video
I was waiting for this video :)
Best sci-fi skirmish game for quick and highly competitive play 👍
Those space rats would be great for your Space Station 0 games.

@@CorvusBoreus new ones are hard plastic sets. Great stuff.
@Corvus_Boreus PVC is fine if you know how to work with it. Don't think it is hard plastic think resin when treating it

Best beer and pretzels wargame I've played!

There's a fair amount of models in Kill Team that would easily be used in a Deadzone army.
You can pick a faction use the minis

I play with proxy models. Not a problem at all for most factions. You could e.g. easily substitute Space Marines for Enforcers.
3rd edition Ash. GCPS. Rest is best get the play up
