Phil Bozeman is the Godfather of deathcore. His personal story is actually very sad. His father passed away when he was a kid. His mother then got remarried. His stepfather was abusive and got his mother addicted to drugs and she developed schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. She then passed when he was a teenager. Dude has been through some shit. For more of his clean singing, check out Whitechapel - Orphan.
While many deathcore vocalists are blowing it outta the park out there, what I always appreciate from Phil is his texture and clear vocalization. He doesn't necessarily enunciate words, but we can hear it easty. Man never fails to pierce our hearts. Time and again.
Whitechapel is one of my favorite bands of all time. Phil has easily had one of the toughest childhoods out of anybody in metal, and it shows in the music. Hence, a lot of the songs are about his mom or his "evil stepdad," who he has said is the only person's death he celebrated. I really hope you two listen to more of them. They have more songs with cleans like "Hickory Creek" or my favorite song by them, "When A Demon Defiles A Witch." He is also one of the most talented vocalists I have ever heard. Phil was always known for his insane lows/gutters, and many years into his career, he just whips out his cleans for some of the more recent records. I've seen them live only a couple of times, and they seem to not play songs with cleans in them very often. However, I am seeing them in December for one of their Christmas shows in Chattanooga, so hopefully, they play those songs.
Not only is he one of the best singers in the genre by far. But he is also a very warm and loving person with his fans. I love this metal reactions!! A big hug
Phil's annunciation is really good. He's one of the easiest to understand imo. I really hope to catch them live next year. Cause they're coming to Tons of rock in Norway. And they're are playing on the same day as Lorna shore and Electric callboy. :D Phil's cleans sounds a bit like Jonas from Katatonia. Maybe you want to check them out? Their song Omerta, In the white or Evidence is really good :)
Happy you liked it ladies! this band is special.. you rarely see 3 guitarists in the band and on this album they created magic.. plus Phil, his enunciation when he growls is on point, you don't hear that often. Thank you for the reaction!
It tells a story of a child (a fictional take on a non fictional story about his own childhood) who loses both parents and struggles to cope. The whole album is a story from start to finish. It is one of the best albums ever made.
Seen him do this live several times. Phil is amazing!!! He sang this song at the end of a set! (to show of he can do it after +-45minutes of screaming) :D
I'm so glad you reacted to this song. Phil is so incredibly talented. This song was such a departure from there normal songs and this one is very emotional.
You should watch his live appearance with Suicide Silence at Mitch Luckers’ (vocalist of suicide silence who passed away) memorial concert. The song is unanswered. It’s before he changed his look up and the vocals fit his look a lot more lol
Man this band is so special, Phil is the absolute goat! If you want more clean singing I definitely would suggest Hickory Creek. But I also think you should do the flip of that and check out their latest track A Visceral Retch, which is a return to form for them and brings back their heavier sound.
You need to check out cattle decapitation. Travis ryan is a legend. Start with scourge of the offspring, then bring back the plague. But another couple whitechaple songs, without you, is a direct follow up to i will find you, also hickory creek is good one you two would like

@@roryasrorri701yeah I want to say it was on an interview with Nik nocturnal that Phil said: he doesn’t like not enunciating his voice

Both of Phil’s parents died when he was young (teens). His father passed from a heart attack, and his mother died from a drug overdose.
