Falcom always seems to be that under-the-radar company who manages to make surprisingly great games. It wasn’t until late last year that I got into Ys and the Trails series, and they’re both pretty great in their own right. If this game is just as fun as those were, I just might pick this one up as well.
Yes this is more of Ys gameplay so you will probably enjoy this game as well 😁
True. Played Ys 8 last year as my first time playing a Falcom game and it was really good. Bought the game physical and it came with a keychain and a map/poster. Surprisingly the game was pretty addicting. Found myself playing until 4 in the morning.

it tries to aim for the heights of both and thus fails to establish a proper identity of its own. I don't think it's bad, but there are better uses of your time

Loved the PSP version (only released in Japan but fan translated) and I'm glad it finally got the well deserved official localization for NA & EU...And HD Remastered with English dub.

I have the fan translated version on my modded PSTV. I haven't started it yet but plan on playing both this and Tokyo Xanadu

This reminds me of the final fantasy crystal chronicles on the DS. Those are still some of my favorite games. Can't wait to play this game

@Lex Yup the "Trails" team and the Ys developers teamed up!
Rings of Fate was so good me and my friends blew through the story to do all the missions in multiplayer but that game is heavily slept on.
@Emrls Ring of fates was one of the first FF games I fell in love with as a kid. Remember getting it out from the library and beating it in a week. Awesome game!

I never noticed the riff from Y’s 1 with the falcom logo. That’s cool. Looking forward to getting Nayuta…hopefully I’ll be done with Azure by then.

Falcom games on Nintendo channel. Feels surreal, need to get used to it.
They've shown games from Falcom in the past. Trails of Cold Steel 4, Zero, Azure, Ys 8 & Ys 9 etc
This game is what Adol's adventures from the Ys series would be if he still traveled alone.
So glad I pre-ordered this last year! Finally, we have a release date! My ❤ is so happy right now!!!! 😁

Finally, i can play this game with official translation and also with english dub, man what a time to be alive
For someone who has played the PSP version and loved it, this HD verison looks amazing. Others playing it for the first time will probably think the visuals are garbage, but I'm blown away by the upgrade.

I'll bonk them for saying an Action RPG with a story is a genre, the entire Ys series is out there as an easy example. But it does look fun to me so I'll likely buy it :)

Well NIS America had to buy the Geofront Translations for Zero/Azure , so they couldn't very well just turn around and spend even more money to get it dubbed

I still think it's a dick move considering all the games so far were dubbed.
Considering the money that seems to be put down for Reverie with its huge cast I can see why Crossbell didn’t get a dub. Don’t get me wrong, it’s disappointing but the story is so strong in those games and the Japanese performances so good that really I feel I lost very little out of the experience. Frankly I’m just happy we in the West have an official way to play these games at all, especially on consoles.
Story action rpgs aren't new, they've been a thing 4 over a decade

You gotta assume something got lost in the translation. A "new genre" because it combines story and RPG with action? No one tell them about almost every game ever made in the last ten years. And seasons changing doesn't make your world fantastical. It makes it incredibly normal.

So they basically took the YS combat and slapped it on a “Legend of Heroes” game. I know this game actually came out a long time ago though.
