I mean, 200 years. Thats more memories than any old person alive has today, so he'd probably be one of the most elderly and wisest person mentally. At that stage, you'd be welcoming death. While living a long life to see it all is a wish for some, others would have felt they've lived long enough. I'm only in my mid 20s but with how quickly things are now progressing, I fear what I will think by the time I reach 60 or 70 and if I'll feel like I stil wanna live on for as long as I can or will I be ready to just accept death when it arrives.

Agreed, he’s taken on the guilt of the loss of so many lives irl and in game. He’s such a kind sensitive soul and I like that he takes each live that was lost seriously because every death was significant. I just wish there was another way to lessen the pain for him because there is nothing he can do about what if’s or could have. He misses poor Eugeo and he’s another close friend that Kirito lost..

For anyone that does not now what exactly is happening here:
Basically Kiritos and Asunas memories were deleted after they have been actively living in the UW for about 10-15 years and building up everything up again. After that they freeze themselves so the time flows faster and the damage on their fluctlights does not get stimulated too much. So basically they are "sleeping" for 180 of the 200 years. Alices sister (Selka) also does this to be able to see her sister again.
This is why Kirito can only make up his memories to some point (in the novel it is the point where they made peace with all of the Underworlds different species) and is sad that he lost the rest of them. The feelings he had in the UW are still there although they are supposed to be deleted. Rest should be in the episode hopefully.
The red thing on Kiritos face is actually him and Ishkahn exchanging fists. Ishkahn accepts that Kirito is much stronger than him and so he gets accepted to be the leader.
Just a little correction, they didn't freeze themselves after 10-15 years. Rinko told them in the light novel that the two continued their activities within Underworld for 200 years. It's just that the cut off of deletion starts after they had a conference with Ishkan :)

Does anyone else really, really hope we get to see some of that 200yrs in the next series? Like, after basically a whole series with very little Asuna and Kirito, it'd be nice to see them both together in that world. Even if it's just in other characters' flashbacks or through stories or something...
Reki hasn't finished the story of the Maximum Acceleration phase. We don't know if he will ever go back to it.
The Author did Spend 2 volumes covering a small chain of events during the maximum acceleration phase, however it's mostly seen through the perspective of Kirito's Kouhai (Can't think of her name I think it's Tiese)

It's only a meme because people didn't pay attention to how deleting memories works. Like this is pretty obvious in episode one where Kirito reacts to the name Alice despite all his memories of her being gone.
That happens all the time, which is why you have "people die when they are killed" where shirou wakes up after getting stabbed through his heart

Kirito has been through so much shit but is able to smile and live like a normal person. I would be traumatized and give up on life if I were him.
Boi's stuck in a game for two years and witnessed many deaths there at his teenage, deals with PTSD and survivors guilt, gets brain damage and witnessed his first best friend dying and then being in a vegetative state only to experience his most traumatic memories again. And then he's stuck in another world for 200 years and gets his memories removed. He's so resilient
You just summarized his mental status through all the SAO series. I'm just happy that they erased those 200 years, it's too much for someone to have an elderly mental status, who almost died, but woke up as a teenager who even hasn't finished his high school yet

Still this was the most emotional 😭 I had been for SAO the fact that I have been a fan since I got on in 2012 made this so much more wholesome. Seeing kirito grow and face challenge after challenge up until the underworld Arc. Asuna giving up her life to spend time with him for 200 years and still be his rock. That was just amazing 👏👏💯💯.

Technically speaking deleting Memories means deleting a part of yourself that makes you "you" and no they weren't deleted it's more of sealed away or repressed memories for them but they were informed they were deleted, so they thought those memories really were deleted but they were actually repressed back and in Unital Ring there had been scenes where they vaguely remember the time they spent in the UW

Yes, or rather the closest thing to it, Authors like these do tend to do web novels first cuz it's easier to get a wider fanbase. But yes all of the SAO Anime and Manga are based on the LNs
