  • This is Part #4 of our property series. In this video you'll see the 5740 and the BX25D working together to get the job done. We did run into a little trouble along the way and a few snags.

    Well, all I can say is job well done by both you, Kathy and both tractors. Love the video and watching things get done. I don't know Paul, I like the tractors dirty. They worked for it and they deserve all the dirt on them. Besides, now you have to work for them and get them all clean. That way they well keep on working for you. Have a great day and I hope you get that BIG rock out of there. That looks like a job. Good luck with that. Levi~~

      Thanks Levi. Oh I don't like them dirty but there are times they have to get that way. We are dealing with that rock now and will post a video on it when the weather gets better. You keep well my friend.

    Hey Paul. I don't think your vids are boring at all. I can watch everything you want to capture! I especially like seeing what all the little bota can handle. Kubota should be paying you for all that you deliver!

      JayBird Thanks Jay. Happy to hear your enjoying the content. We try and mix it up a bit. There will be more Kubota vids soon. Promise. We get a lot of emails and phone calls with folks saying they bought a Kubota because of our videos. That's a great compliment. Thanks for watching and commenting sir.

    Kathy did a excellent job at filming you! That poor Woman was starving and you didn't want to give her a lunch break?
    Great video! Also, the BX did have lots of power, more than I expected it to have + that thumb really gave those roots a thrashing! Have you thought about calcium filled tires? No flats & it adds ballast also.
    A answer to your comment in part #3 ? Yup a Grand cabbed 5740 without the ability to stay inside is foolish if you want a backhoe they really made a mistake by not making the cab bigger to allow that. It really turned me off to buying a cab.
    You may not have it on your BX but I am sure you have it on your 5740 & that is when you want to creep forward or backward they have a lever. You just lift your bucket & outriggers when using the backhoe & steer while still in the backhoe seat, it works fantastic. But for you, with the cab you are out of luck... ;-)

    Hey Paul awesome as usual. I have no worries on cutting tires all my tires on my bx have been foam filled. My son has his b2620 they're filled as well. We think the tires wear better and no worries about nails sharp rocks etc. also added ballast down low. Great video. Looking forward to next one

    Paul, i love watching your videos. billstmaxx brought me here when he mentioned your quick connect. i dont regret it at all. we had a Kubota m6800 and we didnt like the hydraulics on the loader. there wasnt any power. but your kubotas have plenty of power. kubota must have changed the design. good luck on the project. and wifey does a good job filming. you should have her out there with a shovel to do the digging. lol

    • @7863348
      @7863348  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Nicholas. I think if I asked the wife to use the shovel she would hit me with it lol. I'm really happy with the quick connect. I'll be showing it more in the upcoming video's. I didn't know billstmaxx had mentioned the quick connect but I'm glad you ended up visiting our channel. The quick connect was a toughly to get right but It's exceeded my expectations and most guys that are standing by the machine don't even realize that's its even on there so it blended in nicely. some of the Kubota's leave the factory with low hydrilic pressure and they can be boosted up to their actual specs so that might have been your issue with yours. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

    I think it is safe to say this was a "Rocking Video" I think size wise you have out done me. I was really impressed with the BX 25 it's a Beast like my old B6000 maybe more so and the power is nothing to laugh at ! If and when I do get my back how the hydraulic thumb will be a must, it was a work saver. Great job and can't wait to see how the dexpan works out, I wonder if you can drill granite rock . The last one I couldn't move even with the help of my neighbor and his L3800DT we dug a deep hole next to it and now it is part of the driveway..... Your wife is so patient with the camera, mine would be kicking me off the Kubota and driving it. That's why I tell her shifting is really hard with a HST.... ;-)

    • @7863348
      @7863348  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ya. The wife is a patient person. she had to be that way to stay with me lol. Really pleased with the BX and it's power. It's exceeded all my expectations that's for sure. I started the drilling of the rock. It's no easy task. So far I've got 12 1.5" holes drilled that's 14" deep. Four more holes to go and we'll do the pour. Couldn't get Dexpan here so we're using Ecobust. Couldn't dig a hole for this rock because there were to many rocks around it.

    Hi,
    And well done! The large rock was a huge boulder of flint. If you have flint you should have chalk and clay, both easier to work with, but take a close look at parts of the Flint. I collected a whole ;lot when a road and or ditch was getting dug. I went after the work had stopped, often around times 9-10-11oclock, and on finding as large a flint as your and other slight smaller I could just about pick up, I had learned from previous work that a really good smack rather than several small ones would crack the rock clear through the area I hit and won’t have smashed the internal structure. I can then take a look to see if there is any crystal that I would be the first to see!!! I find Petrology real REALLY exciting, finding and seeing things no one has ever seen and surprisingly there was a whole lot of smaller flint nodules some of which were no larger than my hand and others I had to smash bits off to make it possible to lift and get my tiny 10 x Loupe out to check any tiny internal caves/inclusions I found in the flint where before it was completely inclosed it was possible for water to run through the space sometimes no larger than my fingernail and at other times as I mentioned the tiny cave is the size of my hand.
    As I split the flint, there is two sides to the crack I have made checking out both halves you can often see one half with hardly and crystals but the second half has a wonderfully enclosed crystal garden, mostly white, but also some other colours like purple and brown and yellow. They make great display pieces, when cleaned of their dirt and loose parts, they will be surrounded in a white cover of chalk, this can be from 1 mm to several cm’s. We have flint chalk and sandstone, but mostly we, as your area was swept by the last Ice-Age with it bringing these giant and barely visible rocks, especially flint spreading it and chalk across the land, and of course the chalk was at the bottom of the sea at one time and so was the flint covered and surrounded by it.
    BTW I love your Dutch style barns come workshops.
    Well done with persuading the rock out of the ground that may have been there at least ten thousand years and probably several million years, with its total age certainly million and millions of years, do not look at these as a nuisance but something no one but you has ever seen!
    Take care
    mrbluenun

    Great work looks awesome that's why I bought my bx to my case is huge and powerful and can move a lot of material but combine it with the bx and you get the best of both worlds I need a hydraulic thumb that thing works awesome

    • @7863348
      @7863348  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with you. You need both sizes. As you seen in the video I was back and forth on both units. The hydraulic thumb is fantastic. It was a good bit of work to do it but well worth it. The Kwik-Con for the back hoe also exceed all my expectations but the real winner for me is the "Sure Footers" which are the outrigger pads for the back hoe. The OEM ones would always sink in the dirt. Not anymore.

    Paul, Your tractors need a bath. But hey at least one tire on the BX is clean. The progress is coming along nicely. The tractors are all covered in dirt now, But hey before you know it I'll be saying that they are all covered in snow lol. Great length on the video. Gives me something to do with my time. I'm wondering though are there any more mods coming? Or did the ideas run dry. Stay safe with your project and in the shop and I'll talk to you again soon.

      This TH-cam stuff is funny. When I'm doing the mods in the winter everyone will ask, When are you going to show the tractors working? When the spring comes and I get them out to play I get asked, When are you going to be working at your mods in the shop lol. Oh I have never run out of ideas. I could mod a freezer lol. This is the time of the year that I test all my mods and if anything needs to be tweaked then I do it and test again. I do have a mini mod coming up that anyone can do and it's never been done before ;) Yes there will be a video on it. Thanks buddy.

    Paul: That was lots of work my friend. Kudos to your good wife. That camera must get heavy after awhile. Will you pressure wash and then hand wash the tractors? It is a good feeling to do work around home. Your opinion on the zero turn ZG 222. I am thinking of buying one. Is it hard on fuel as compared to the ZD model? I have 3 acres to cut. I like the air cooled V twin, no coolant etc to look after but how hard is it on fuel? $4000 difference in price will buy tons of gas....Be safe out there Paul.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian that's exactly how I'll do it plus tough up the paint ;) Kathy is getting better with the camera as time goes on. Not doing bad for a lady that wanted nothing to do with my video's. Truth be known I think she's starting to enjoy it. I really like our ZG222Z. I bought it because I got tired of our old Craftsman ride on mower. It worked well but figured the ZTR would fit our needs better and it has. We bought ours back in 2008 and I just checked the hour meter and it shows 42 hours so you can tell it don't mow a lot which is one of the reasons I didn't go for the ZD because I knew it would get the use to justify the extra $4000-$5000 like you mentioned. Like you I like the simplicity of the gas engine and in the case of our ZG it is a Kubota engine. If I had a use for a ZTR and was expected to put a minimum of 30 hours a season I would have opted for the diesel. I would say the ZG is hard on gas. That really depends on the height of the grass but I am really happy with the machine.

    • @briancampbell5944
      @briancampbell5944 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Short Thanks for your reply Paul. Hard on gas depends on how many hrs it is used I guess so like you less than 50 hrs per cutting season so it is all relevant. Be safe out there.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Essentially that sums it up. If you have a lot of mowing in deep grass the ZD is the answer. If you have a small areas that you periodically mow the ZG is the one for you. Have a great weekend and ride safe.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mogman150
      Yes. When we first starting our property projects there was nothing but trees on the back property and no room to operate the 5740. We purchased the BX25D to gain access back there which it did. Not having a cab on the BX also made a Hugh difference. The 5740 is really only used for snow clearing and i think its a great unit but I also think it's foolish to get out of a cool cab on a hot day and sit on the back hoe seat to operate it so that's why we kept the BX
