When we as the boss make a mistake, it is probably the most visceral demonstration of how much our egos are in play. We immediately get a horrible chill, and we go into protection mode..."How can I cover this up/explain this/it wasn't my fault..."
But, our own mistakes give us the opportunity to send a very powerful signal to our team. "You are safe here. You can excel. You can innovate. You can be creative."
