Be wary of their fish, reptile, rodent, and basically any noncat or dog information though. They still sell these animals with extremely improper equipment and information. Do your own independent research about whatever species of animal you're shopping for as big stores like this are not required to train their employees on ethical animal care.
Adopt, don't shop. Do your research. Problem SOLVED.
@@aautumn733 I mostly agree except purchasing from responsible breeders that you build a relationship with helps support the efforts to maintain good genetic lines which creates healthy reliable animals. I have nothing against adoption and responsible breeders who focus on their animals welfare. Box stores are bad because they buy from mass production breeders that overbreed and breed bad stock just so they have the numbers rather than quality. Most adoptable animals are unfortunately the cast offs of mass breeding or accidental breedings which means unreliable and unhealthy animals. I think we can figure out how to support both but we can agree to never support the sales of live animals at big box stores.
@@aautumn733 the problem isn’t solved whatsoever. Many adoptive animals suffer from unknown medical conditions that make many people end up abandoning their animals because they weren’t aware, which means that the animal suffers and the human doesn’t have a comfort animal. Also, many ethical breeders treat their animals great , if someone can’t take care of an adoptive animal, shopping from an ethical breeder is fine. All of these kitten foster people never say to just adopt. But they encourage it

@Xyz Xyz bro idk where you live, but where I'm at there aren't fish or reptiles to adopt. I HAVE to buy from a breeder or local store. Those are the only options

We met our Rusty, the burnt orange tabby king of our house, at PetsMart. It truly was love at first sight. We tried to avoid the aisle where the adoption area was located. But it wasn’t possible to avoid the smoldering gaze of his golden eyes and how intense his coloring appeared in the light of the enclosure. The rescue group required completion of a lengthy questionnaire, but we passed muster and proceeded to enjoy 12 wonderful years with this remarkable feline.

As a true cat lover and owner of many cats myself I LOVE going shopping for my cats when I can. Sometimes I think I get more excited than they do 😂

You inspired me to rescue a sweet littler tuxedo kitten at 4 weeks. The rescue said he was from a hoarder. 8 months later, Binx is happy and healthy

I adopted my two panthers through Petsmart. They really do get their adoptable pets through local rescues and shelters, and have done for years! I got my boys from them 10 years ago!
I got 2 of my 3 kitties from there. They have both passed away now, sadly, but I had one for over 9 years and one for over 12.5. They were such a blessing, and I wouldn't hesitate to adopt from there again.

I am infinitely thankful that you're able to take care of Fergie and Coco, overall you're an angel Hannah however big chain stores such as Petsmart are very problematic and most stores don't take good care of living animals, they toss away living fish along with critters, it's really sad. There are so many dumpster dive videos about the subject 😞
That shop must really love the kitten lady. She must be there number 1 shopper? Also that kitten is supper lucky getting all them toy for him self and having the best cat lady being his forever owner

I adopted my Izzie from a Petsmart adoption center over 12 years ago. I get all her supplies from there still. (She's very set against me adopting any other kitties though)

UNBELIEVABLE.... What a fabulous store. I'd never leave. All the new goodies are great, especially that retro looking tube bed. You did well. Ferguson looks so comfy in his new bed.
“People here can find all the things you need” yeah…maybe for cats and or dogs but no other animal. You do not need to know a single thing about animals to work at Petsmart. The care guides that Petsmart provides for small animals, bird and reptiles are so vague and a lot of the information is outdated or downright wrong. If you’re unsure on what to get your new pet, you shouldn’t have gotten it yet and done a lot more research. A general rule of thumb, don’t trust a Petsmart or petco employee to give you advice on proper pet care.

I agree. I like the store for buying supplies. I would never use their grooming services, though.
If you're asking a pet supply store employee for advice on animal care or products then you shouldn't have an animal in the first place. You need to do proper research first.
I have rabbits as well as a family cat and dog. The way they suggest things for creatures like rabbits does nothing but cause suffering for said creatures. Such misinformation keeps rabbits in disgusting cages and fed completely inappropriate diets.
I have done the research, I know what my furry family members need. Pet supply stores certainly are NOT my guide for anything save helping out if the product I need doesn't appear to be stocked. I appreciate it very much when they double check the supply room for me in such situations. In that at least they are actually very helpful.

Last time I went to Petsmart I got stuck in the Halloween section while looking for kitten formula and wet food. That place is dangerous! I always end up buying wayyy more than I planned 😂

We got our huge, gorgeous, fluffy, longhaired black cat, Benji, at the PetSmart in Ithaca NY. He’s an amazing boy.

I adopted my sweetheart Finec at a Petsmart. The great thing is that petsmart also works with individual cat fostermoms. I had to call the former foster mom of Finec's and answered her questions because she wanted to make sure that he was adopted into a loving home. It was a great experience adopting from Petsmart. They also provide a really helpful coupon book for anyone adopting from any animal shelter. I got to leave the store with a nice size bag of free catfood and heavily discounted toys and treats.

LOL we got that cardboard car with the fuzzy dice that you were playing with in the store for our cats. They loved it so much that after a week they'd pulled the dice out of the ceiling and knocked the side off. We had to drill it back together. Still their favorite toy.

I absolutely love Petsmart when the hubby and I lost our 1st kitty we went there just to look; & this panther grabbed at my hubby (who wasn’t ready yet for another cat) but Luna decided she was and we ended up with her in June of 2018 about a month after we lost our boy Twister.
I didn't know that they had the doughnut beds over there!!! I've been looking for a second one that I don't have to buy on amazon. NICE!!!

PetSmart also pairs with shelters and rescues in their area, ours kindly allows us to have an adoption event every other Saturday for the rescue I foster for and it's an AMAZING way to get some pets into new homes! They also give grants for how many adoptions are had during national adoption week, which is usually done via an adoption event at the Petsmart location. They also give out amazing coupon booklets with all sorts of goodies, including a free 30 minute training session , to every new adoptive family we have during the adoption events!!

PetSmart is awesome! I foster kittens and cats for south suburban humane society in Chicago Heights IL and PetSmart partners with this high volume, community involved, shelter. Many of the cats and kittens that pass through the shelter are housed for adoption at PetSmart and that increases the exposure of the kittens to likely adopters by a lot!!!
