Big difference between 645 and 67 for me was the scanning process - the bigger negative forgives more scan limitations.. Meanwhile I sold my 645 equipment (2 bodies & 6 Lenses) and shoot medium format with my 6x7 only

I'll never be without one. Have been meaning to do more videos but life's thrown me a couple curve-balls lately and now it's all settled down I'm stuck inside haha.

I have a P67 also and I agree only getting 9 or 10 images (my copy is sorta quirky about how many frames it will actually give) is a drawback. I'm debating getting a 645 for this reason alone.
I just found out about your video because I just acquired both cameras recently and enjoy seeing what photographers can do with these amazing cameras. It seemed like the 645 was sharper with hair details in first comparison but, it was very close. It would be fun to see comparison of CineStill 800T. Thanks for doing this video!

Awesome comparaison :) I was a fan of the Pentax 67, I never found any other camera that can offer me the joy of working with it as much as I did using the Pentax. And the prints are absolutely gorgeous. I am now with an Hasselblad H4X, so I can keep using films, but I miss the 67 so much that I might buy one soon, thanks to you :) Of course the Sony has good results, but it hasn't got this feeling given by the medium format analog cameras :) keep putting great contents and take care.
Absolutely love the Portra 400/67 shots. The combo really has a great look. The Portra 800 ends up a bit reddish for me. The Sony shots were great too, but I do love Portra colors. Looking forward to more of these, Erik!

Yay another video! And the good old 645 :) I never shot with the Pentax 67 though I had thought about getting one here and there. Instead I opted for the Fuji GSX680 for the shift/tilt. Definitely not a carry around camera. In terms of 66 vs 645, more resolution if you intend to keep in square format. I always think about the end result when choosing between these two formats (my P645ii or Hassie), If I intend to crop to a standard rectangular ratio, I use the 645 as it is essentially 66 image cropped to 8x10. Anyway, always great to see a new video. Stay safe and not to bored.

I'd love to see the difference between something like Kodak50 or CineStill 50D vs the Sony at 100 ISO. Of course this would be a flash photography shoot, but I wonder if picking out the difference between the three would be much harder (outside of colors).

I haven't shot fresh color negative film in a really long time, so I don't really have any personal opinions on Portra 400 vs 800, but, based just on this video, the portra 400 looks amazing, I feel like I really try to make the effort to buy some fresh film

I just put down a deposit on a Pentax 67. As soon as this whole Coronavirus thing lifts and stores reopen, I will pick it up.
Although, I suspect that the ensuing economic downturn will reduce the already small number of films, film processors, and the price will increase even more.
In terms of color palette and rendition, your images here REALLY remind me of your shots of the waitress (for me, that image was the equivalent of the iconic "Afghan Girl" shot from National Geographic) you shot in Buffalo, NY a few years ago on the Mamiya RB 67. EVERYTHING (your choice of film stock, lens, her being very photogenic, etc.) just came together on that one. All of these images are very 'cool', almost like they were shot using an 82B filter, which I LOVE, as it seems to me that a majority of people over do the 'warm' look.
I would be interested in seeing a comparison (and your opinions) of how the Pentax 67 lenses render compared to the Mamiya 67 lenses.
Not sure if you have done a Fuji 400H vs Portra 400 comparison on 6x7 or 645 on an equivalent 35mm focal lens length on the aforementioned medium format sizes...

Dude you gotta try the 645 with the 105 lens. Pentax sold an adapter to put its 67 lenses on the 645 and it’s beast. Usually compared to the Contax 645.

Have you tried the Ektar 100 for a model photo shoot?
I've shot portraits on ektar. It's very saturated and less tolerant of overexposure than Portra or 400h. I've taken some ok photos with it though.
I would like to see the difference between Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Gold 200...just to see the difference between the two.
I have a Pentax 6x7 with a 75mm 4.5 and a 200mm 4.0 and totally LOVE the camera!

personally I love just looking through the images, especially as a person trying make a decision on which camera to choose. Seeing it on set is just fluff for me... I know what a photoshoot looks like. although I understand it being more interesting for a TH-cam channel I guess. just my opinion
A little tweeking and those frames from the A7 could SING. That said, either way the softness, separation, tonality, and feel is something you can't set a preset for. Save the A7 as a tool to scan your negatives.

Those aren’t Sony skin tones! I have the A9 and A7Riii and I just sold the the A7iii and the 85. Great work though, maybe link the raws so we can see what’s real?
Digital - sharp and fast...
Film - dreamy and pure magic.
My first observation was that the colors of the film photos pop-up more than those of the Sony even though the Portra has a quite subdued color palett. This is not good or bad but just a fact which might be to the liking of some or the dislike of others. I'm not familiar with the Sony color science because I shoot Fuji but I also shoot film including the Pentax 645n. Also it would have been good if you were mentioning the lenses that you used in the two Pentax. At the time of writing this haven't looked at all the comments below so perhaps the asnwer to my question is in there. Thanks for the video.

I'm sorry. I guess i forgot to specify. I kind of lost track of which were which but i used the 105 2.4 for most and the 165 2.8 for a couple.
To me, many of the Pentax 67 shots were soft all over. I don't know if that was a focusing thing, no good lens, or to open an f stop.
They're flatbed scans of film. They're never going to be as sharp as digital images.
