Say what you will about Pan, but at least that film was ambitious. It took the Peter Pan story, and took it in an incredibly bizzare and surreal direction, and you at least get the sense that the people making it were somewhat passionate about the endeavor. But Peter Pan and Wendy looks like it's just going to be the same boring slop we've seen over and over again.
I saw the trailer, and it does look good, but I agree that it's just the same old stuff and Disney is getting super boring. I also think that if the lost boys aren't going to all be boys anymore than they should be calling them the lost children. Three shows that are great ( and not woke ) are Wolf Walkers, Modern family, and 1883. My mom says that 1883 is one of her most favorite shows ever, and it's the least woke show out right now.
Nailed it on the head re: Wendy. You took the character from being the adult in the room, guiding and comforting the boys (not girls, the wayward boys - yet another nod of respect to girls that they lost) back to responsibility, reality, and home and turned her into a girl boss fighting off the pirates because who needs Peter and the boys to help out?
Honestly they have the opportunity to make it so that she made there lives better regardless of gender and just have another of the lost girls be a girl boss I don't mind the concept of lost girls cause apparently the author put unfair expectations on the girls to be instant adults in the firstplace. Honestly if girls were smart then some of them would probably deliberately take the fall cause femmine life sucked so badly and stile does in some of the world like I imagine of never landing existed then a lot of little girls would have taken the fall to escape the pedo older men they were gonna be married to.

Thank you for bringing Iridessa up!!!! I've been telling about her since this trailler came out , Disney fairies need more love ! And literally the second I finished the trailer I was like " wow , so it's , pandering the movie "
Not to mention this is second or third time they've done this. The blue fairy in Pinocchio is suddenly black, and there was an Amazon Cinderella film that had a black godmother or godfather since he was played by a man 🤔.
Iridessa and the others don't get enough love, right? And they are already a very diverse cast both in color and character. They could have made a new fairies movie and pushed it, but that would require thought and effort. Lazy pandering remakes are so much easier.
Say what you might about the 90's-ness of Hook, but it took the original story, made it a bit of a sequel, included characters of color, changed Tink's hair color, and still stayed absolutely faithful to the source material.
So I noticed this in the Jungle Book. Disney fundamentally doesn’t understand any story that’s about growing up. In the Jungle Book, Mogli’s decision to go into the man village was allegorical to growing up. Mogli leaves his guardian figures found in Bagheera and Baloo to live in the village after being smitten by a village girl. The allegory is fairly overt but not explicitly stated. People who know, know, and people who don’t, will find out. The Disney version just has him going back to the Jungle. No growing up, just growing complacent in a deadly environment. This “new” iteration of the Peter Pan story reeks of the same creative fairy dust that keeps kids from growing up. Wendy looks like she’s lost her place as the one that starts to mature and instead embraces Neverland. I’d assume that they’ll still come up with a contrivance for the kids to return but it’s not going to be because they realize the need to grow up. It’s not going to be a choice to grow up.

Also, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if a gay character pops up. Either it will be a male character that is open or implied or it will be two girls much like the Willow show which this looks eerily similar too. Same universe 🤨? Last notes: a nitpick I have for this and the Willow show is that the lighting and color pallet isn't rich to look at. Something being dark and gritty does not mean it has to look bleak or dull 🙄. Also, this reminds me of that Pan movie with Hugh Jackman, which bombed at the box office, and where they made tiger lilly white and tried to justify it by making the native Americans there multicultural 🤦♂️. Disney's classic age, 90's revival, and the entirety of the MCU are filled to the brim with recreated content. Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and literally all of the MCU are pre-existing stories. Your allegation that Disney doesn't make any new content brings every single Pixar animation, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Encanto to mind so you seem to be glossing over quite a few original stories and characters. At 2:18 you make it sound as though Wendy being able to have a sword fight with two grown men doesn't really mesh with your mockery of it being "gritty origin story". I see children characters sliding down ship sails with blades and fending off grown pirates with swords, just like Peter Pan did in the 1950's animated version. So would you say Peter Pan and Wendy is a gritty tale of real stakes or a whimsical fantasy? Did you have issues with a 12-year-old boy and his Lost Boys being able to fend off pirates in the 1950's animated movie? And if you think Hook being presented as "gay" is something new, Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins may have to enter the chat.
Did You Somehow MISS 2015's #PAN Reboot Or Retailing, Which WASN'T Even REMOTELY By Disney! Or Perhaps: #HOOK; By Amblin! Which Eventhough It Was Made During the 90's; Could EASILY Serve As A Sequel To #PAN.
Disney does not have to come up with ideas all they've got to do is listen to people and their ideas and pick the ones they like this whole concept of Disney having to come up with something that's why they keep doing all these stupid remakes and crap because they themselves are a studio and thus incapable of being creative and creating
I have said this many times but Disney is creatively bankrupt they have no new ideas and they just keep regurgitating the same old shit they have been for the past several years stop giving them your money
Yeah it is unfortunate but they did this to them selves and honestly I think it would be better for Disney just to be broken up and the IP sold off the different companies
What makes me sick is it seems that boys aren't allowed to have male-centric shows anymore. Peter Pan was one of the few classic Disney movies that was male-centered and now it's being made to be female-centered. They are working to take everything away from men.. like imagine if they took Barbie and made it all about Ken and put Barbie on the back burner. The left would lose their minds. It's happening over and over again. We really need to stand up and stop all these man-hating feminist from taking everything away from young boys
hopefully they will run outta material to vandalize but it seems they have quite a lot left, though most of the bronze age of disney has been strip mined already (aladdin, lion king, beauty and the beast), guess they only have oliver and company and pocahontas left (2 films that didnt do that well in the 90s). Though they still have a ton of films from the silver and golden age (including that snow white remake) so it'll be awhile before the woke run outta things to reuse.
That's two of us. I imagine they won't release the numbers. Or they do what HBO did with Vewlma and make up a new category and declare this movie top of that category
The un-subtleness of the propaganda is now directly in titles, lmao. It's not Ant-Man, it's Ant-Man AND the Wasp. It's not Peter Pan, it's Peter Pan AND Wendy. And it's a broken record as this point, but nothing says progress like crushing the brutish, violent, condescending patriarchy by becoming brutish, violent, and condescending.
sigh... what iffff, instead of making another re-telling of Peter Pan, they instead, tried something... new? also, am I the only one who isn't generally all that impressed by the live-action re-tellings?
Not to defend Disney and the terrible decisions, but the Wendy pushing two swords away thing came across to me as part of the main plot. I think the plot of the film is going to be Hook making his ship fly by taking it from Peter (as opposed to Peter using Tinkerbell's pixie dust because a Disney reboot isn't complete until it emasculates the former main character). Wendy fighting like that looks like an extension of her mastery of flight, and she'll probably be able to channel it somehow for increased strength or speed or whatever. It still isn't a good idea, but it fits in line with how Disney has rolled these last few years, such as Mulan becoming an outright superhero as opposed to a inventive hard worker. Plus the original Disney film had Peter rescue Wendy, so talent less writers would do it to 'subvert expectations', which means Peter has to lose his power somewhere. What really gets me is that there are absolutely ways Disney could have focused more on Wendy or equally on both of them and had something interesting. Imagine if instead of Peter Pan being afraid of growing up and becoming an adult he instead was afraid and intrigued by Wendy's femininity, and Wendy instead of being a nurturing maternal figure became a confident young girl who knew the power of small glances and moving their hair in just the right way. Or what about a Peter Pan and Wendy story where the more that Wendy melts Peter's 'I don't wanna grow up!' defiance the more he morphs into a new person. They could even embrace the legacy of the character and start it off as being played by a young girl and then use makeup and spirit gum to make them more and more masculine, until a point where they just swap to a male actor and never announce it at all. Bonus points if they can find a pair of siblings or cousins or something that look alike enough some audience members don't catch it right away. They just see Peter has changed because of his being around Wendy. They could even have a few gut punch moments with it such as near the end of the film after he's beaten Hook and Wendy asks to go home, and after a few interesting camera shots Peter is played by the actress again in all of the original trappings and makes an impassioned plea for Wendy to stay. Instead of any of these kinds of concepts this trailer makes this look like another soulless remake for modern audiences. It might be decent and there might be some good ideas in there, but a trailer like that screams otherwise.
Right? It leans into something I believe I heard you say: that Disney fundamentally doesn't understand femininity's power. They just replace male characters with women and don't change the way they are written at all. It leaves a void they don't seem willing to engage with.
Yeah…there should not be Lost Girls. In the book the Lost Boys were babies who fell out of their prams and got lost. There were no girls because girls were too smart to fall out of their prams. #When an early 20th century book is more “Woke” than a film from 2023.
I got a green screen! Also, what are your thoughts on Peter Pan and Wendy?

Changing the fairy black, the kids into girls, and reducing femininity? Adding gay/lgbtq elements is safe??? Yeah, this shows not going to succeed.
The 2003 film with Jason Isaacs, Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood will always be the PERFECT live-action Peter Pan movie for me.

Have you ever seem Ralph Bakshi's "Fire & Ice"? I think that animation style needs to return. Not CGI but hand-drawn rotoscoped imperfection.
The 2003 Peter Pan does what this waste of space is trying to do and only did it a million times better

They're not running out of ideas they are just too persistently stubbornly lazy to research other stories from folklore and to put any effort into them
Remember when they were supposed to do that Jack in the Beanstalk movie Gigantic from a couple years ago and then all of sudden it got canceled?
And even when they do something original like Strange World it's made with the worst intentions possible
We all know that as of right now Disney/Bob Iger only cares about Marvel because that's what made them the most money back in the day but that ship is sinking fast and hard now
And then there's their mindlessly endless habit of rehashing the classic animated films because once again they made money and that's blowing up in their face too
And we all know how much of a tremendous success Star Wars has been for them as well

So good so funny so true 😂 woke Disney is dying
That was harsh. Glad I'm not disney.
Did You Somehow MISS
2015's #PAN Reboot Or
Retailing, Which WASN'T
Even REMOTELY By Disney!
Or Perhaps: #HOOK; By Amblin!
Which Eventhough It Was Made
During the 90's; Could EASILY
Serve As A Sequel To #PAN.
If you want to wash the taste of this out of your mouth, watch Peter Pan Goes Wrong. It's like, genuinely hilarious!
I do love a good broadway comedy
Fucking fantastic! Loved this video!
Thank you so much!
Another Movie Failure waiting to be released again :D GO DISNEY!!!
"Gender Fluid" to the face is a HUGE payoff in other movies..
Disney does not have to come up with ideas all they've got to do is listen to people and their ideas and pick the ones they like this whole concept of Disney having to come up with something that's why they keep doing all these stupid remakes and crap because they themselves are a studio and thus incapable of being creative and creating
They wouldn't make Hook gay. Modern would not have a gay Bad Guy. They can only be portrayed as God's gift to the world.
I'm just happy that Disney is doing a girl boss movie, for once. They've really been lacking in that respect lately.
Hahaha, really filling an undeserved market, right?
If they really wish to die, in total and absolute infamy, so be it.
Addio per sempre (goodbye forever) Disney.
What's so sad is they really think this is going to work
When has disney ever creates something new?
I hope this movie bombs bad. Silly parents will however bring parents because they need entertainment for kids. So probably 300 M minimum
The mere prescience of a black women is not virtue signaling lol
Peter Pandering really needs to trend lol
Shit, how did I miss that? That's a good line
Society is too dumb. They'll consume this movie like they always do and always will.
I want to optimistically disagree with, but you speak the truth
I have said this many times but Disney is creatively bankrupt they have no new ideas and they just keep regurgitating the same old shit they have been for the past several years stop giving them your money
It's just awful. It's sad to watch the slow death of a company
Just checking if my comments are being banned by TH-cam again
Not this one. Sometimes if they have cuss words, YT prescreens them out and I never see them
@@gregowen2022 thank you for the quick response just subscribed👍
Much appreciated!
hopefully they will run outta material to vandalize but it seems they have quite a lot left, though most of the bronze age of disney has been strip mined already (aladdin, lion king, beauty and the beast), guess they only have oliver and company and pocahontas left (2 films that didnt do that well in the 90s). Though they still have a ton of films from the silver and golden age (including that snow white remake) so it'll be awhile before the woke run outta things to reuse.
I used to believe they'd quit if they lost money, but I was clearly deluding myself because they are just plowing forward
I did warn you that you'd burn your house down over this.
I couldn't believe it would be so bad. I want to be mad, but it's just pitiable now
I absolutely cannot WAIT for this movie to bomb harder than Hiroshima. I hope it's an EXTRA humiliating loss for the studio.
That's two of us. I imagine they won't release the numbers. Or they do what HBO did with Vewlma and make up a new category and declare this movie top of that category
Honestly, I'm wondering why they haven't renamed Peter Pan to Peter Pansexual.
Hahahaha, be careful they just might
The un-subtleness of the propaganda is now directly in titles, lmao.
Right? That's what I don't get. They simutaneously decry toxic masculinity and write their women as the same toxic men
sigh... what iffff, instead of making another re-telling of Peter Pan, they instead, tried something... new? also, am I the only one who isn't generally all that impressed by the live-action re-tellings?
Disney really missed a major opportunity by not swapping Wendy with a trans-woman.
I thought Peter was gonna be a trans boy
If recent advertising is anything to go on, ALL women will soon be portrayed by men.
Please keep making videoa
I'm happy to, thanks for the engagement! Hopefully getting a TMNT video up tomorrow. That trailer got me excited
no head first c# book in the background? reported.
It sits on top of the shelf, getting the honor it deserves. Love the user name!
Paint the white black….. and make the straight gay
A woman being something that a boy wants to grow into a man for is one of the powerful versions of femininity I can think of, that would be amazing.
Disney was able to find writers to produce original ideas.. it's just what they produced was shit
Gender fluid sounds like a brand of sexual lubricant to me.
haha, I almost spit a drink reading that
