- For the first time in the series, the expansive land of China is shown on a single map with the introduction of an open world format for diverse progression through the game. The 'one vs. thousands' exhilarating action of the Warriors series and the beloved characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms tale are carried over, but the freedom through an open world stage provides a brand new Warriors experience.
Critical Missions unfold and progress the story of the player character, and are supplemented by numerous missions from various regions such as Regular Missions that affect the Critical Missions and requests from other characters. The situation will be ever changing depending on what missions are selected. In the many battles that occur on the map, players will find a variety of strategies and tactics open to them such as "attacking head on," "launching a surprise attack from an elevated position" or "infiltrating at night", for numerous ways to enjoy the expansive world of the Three Kingdoms.
The map is displayed with beautiful graphics and features many different regions of China such as snow plains, jungles and deserts which reflect the passage of time and changing climate. Key cities and checkpoints, such as Luoyang and Hulao Gate, and landmarks such as the Yellow River and Mt. Song, are replicated, allowing for deeper immersion into the game world.
The new State Combo System reacts and responds to the surrounding conditions, building up on the base Warriors action system. The three core elements are: "Flow Attacks" that change depending on an enemy's state; "Reactive Attacks" that optimally adapt to situations; and "Trigger Attacks" that change an enemy's state.
The addition of Interactive Action allows players to take advantage of the surrounding terrain and environment. In addition to climbing mountains and swimming across rivers, using grappling hooks to climb walls and launching fire arrows into oil barrels to induce explosions are among the new actions for broader strategic gameplay.
New comers like Cheng Pu, a Wu officer who supported the Sun family across 3 generations, and Zhou Cang, a Shu officer known for his fleetness of foot are two of the fascinating new characters.
Experience the Three Kingdoms story woven through a vast roster of characters; included are all 83 officers from the Dynasty Warriors series, with new costumes.

I remember defeating Lu Bu on DW3 for the first time and finding him for the first time and running for your life
He scared the living 💩 out of us. We use to try to jump on his horse 🐎.
I started this series at DW6 and he was a beast to fight. First time I beat him my palms were sweaty.

I really miss the bodyguard feature from DW3. Wish they would keep that going.

I’ve played Dynasty warriors for many years. Lu Bu always kicked my ass, when my friend picked him. And ofcourse my favorite was Zhang Fei, with his massive Pike and large frame.
Damn I remember playing dynasty warriors 2. I just found out what the name was again, was searching for so long. Glad I finally found it.
Dynasty Warriors, the best real time action game ever. Been playing since DW3 way back in the early 2000's when I was in the 10th grade.

lol i never get tired of how some dw characters moves are clearly based on the jian(chinese straight sword) and yet they swing around this great sword sized cosplay prop of a weapon like it's light as a feather lmao XD i love it!
Even in DW8, Guan Ping swung around a Greatsword with no sweat! Even Sima Shi's Lightning Sword was feasable!
Did they bring back custom character creation??? Plz tell me they have I miss being able to somewhat make my own story

Dynasty warriors 2 was the most epic one, you really fought a battle, this one looks like mortalcombat in battlefield.

I mean, after he took out Liu Bei in Baidi Castle in DW8, his once-fellow ally gave him some good advice. As for the farming, he got that from Xu Zhu.
I've known Dynasty Warriors for more than a decade, I still remember the first Dynasty Warriors I played.

@@mastakilla9783 The Empire series are generally more open adventures with you being either a mercenary, a soldier for a country, or a lord for a country. Depending on where you stand depends on what you can do during the out of combat moments.
If they treated Empire 9 right it would of had so much potential.

But I like this game
It takes a realistic approach
Like how do you want to play sima Yi when he’s not in the story yet
Besides, it sorta takes an actual realistic approach no actual world in that time would always have activity outside cities

I remember getting my butt handed to Lu Bu on DW4 so many goddamn times. Now when I have him at 150 in DW8, I can now see how this man is a literal demon. His attitude is someone who just wants a fight, he gets bored around weak opponents and wanted to rule everything. Talk about an untrustworthy powerhouse.
i think it was dynasty warriors 4 or something that had character creation, that's go to be my favourate one and then then Gundam spin offs were just amazing especially the 3rd and last installment omg i am just getting a nostalgic blast from the past right now

Oh hell yes. I made custom characters on a daily basis every time. I made Quan Tai who had a Longsword and he was a blast to use.
I loved old dynasty warriors in english. It was campy and funny at times but it was great. Just like the original voice acting for resident evil 1. As bad as it was. It was also amazing do to how much cheese it had. Can't say the same for this one though.

I remember when I first discovered dynasty warrior. It was dynasty warrior 3 on a jam pack and I fell in loved with it. But now i haven’t played dynasty warrior game in a long time. So I’m curious about this game and might but it.
After watching for 15 still can't decide if this new open world and new combat system is actually good or bad. You know, still hard to move on from good old Dynasty Warriors where you can charge towards the crowd the spam Square + Triangle combo. Will decide if this is good or meh once I get the game tomorrow.
So far I'm finding I like it. It mixes up the formula without going overboard.

Eric Willden No Romance of the Three Kingdoms is an RTS from Koei if I'm remembering correctly. But the first Dynasty Warriors game is a fighting game on the original PlayStation. The went hack n slash with DW2 on the PS2

I don’t really get why people think it’s bad also, I don’t have the game but it seems awesome. The only complaint I’ve seen is that nothing you do matters and your actions don’t have consequences but I feel the same with dw8 empires but I play that a lot.

@@cerealbird4476 The reason why most people hate it (me included) is that Dynasty Warriors has lost its original touch. People who played the game from way back to the second Dynasty Warriors know this, there was no crafting system, no open world, you can create your own character with his own fighting style, you had bodyguards to which could level up with you and the more you level up the more bodyguards you could have to max of like 8, each Mission would be a map with one side against the other with you being the hero of your side against powerful opponents on the other, your choices and actions have consequences on the story, and last but not least the previous games actually had really good storylines compared to the Bland ones we have now.

China do not have that many professional voice actors，if you want Chinese voices，the only thing you would hear is everybody with the same voice
plus a lot of Chinese voice actors have this thing called translation tone，which means they try to say Chinese like foreigners do. This had been criticized by many Chinese gamers as well as movie audience

I do not get the hatred, this looks like a solid game and a nice change of pace for the series. It isn't perfect but it does look cool. At the least, TK is trying new shit with the series. I get the feeling at the least, they will determine what worked and didn't work in this game, and polish it for the next installment.

Game is awesome like they tried something different the open world is awesome the lookout tower shit makes since when they would have really done something like that in that time to check the surrounding area the gameplay is awesome like all my favorite characters it's pretty good I don't see why people trash it like they out making games better it be people sitting in they house talking down on games like dw9 that's actually pretty awesome
It's not that bad if you heard bad stuff it's only "normal" stuff DW fans don't be put off please. This is just the beginning of some great it's only going to get better. Give it a chance as you have done of 9thers!
the only musous i can play are berserk(mostly for the gore and because is my childhood) and the anime ones.I grew up with dynasty warriors too but now i feel that i need more focus and skill combat like ninja gaiden black (my favourite game)or nioh.
Chinese is the way to go thats the language of the actual characters, its well done reminds me of old kung fu dramas

I'd say it's the forefather of "1vs1000" games like "Berserk and the Band of the Hawk" "Fire Emblem...nvm" like "Dragon Quest Heroes" and "Hyrule Warriors"
I always enjoyed these games but this doesn’t support 4K on the Pro and it’s £75 for the game with season pass which is quite frankly ridiculous.

I wish more war games were open hack and slash. Lead an army against many less of the missions and story line
DW4XL made every lasting impression on me, and I'm sad this doesn't live up to the awesomeness.
I didn't play the XL version of DW4; I played the original. But when it came to characters, DW8 had me sold. I used characters like Xingcai, Zhang Liao and Zhou Tai VERY commonly; hell, I even used Xiahou Dun and Guan Yu because they're my favorites!

Dialogue is a bit hard to read on lighter backgrounds because of no background to contrast without leaning forward to read things.

I play Dynasty Warriors too. I played the OG 4th edition on the PS2, and I have the XL version of the 8th edition on PS4. The series never lets me down and I can always implement new strategies and adapt to opponents to easily conquer battles.
