Love what you have just shared. I to am in recovery ( 23 years now). I found in step 8 that the instructions on both sides of the AND are equally important. Yes, (1) make a list, (2) become willing to make (appropriate) amends. Self honesty is what we alcoholics never GAVE ourselves a chance to form. After 20+ years I am still haven't mastered it. I am better at it though. We spent so much time justifying and rationalizing it became as easy as taking another breath. Our first dose of self honesty came when we admitted we had a problem. Step 8 gives us yet another opportunity to practice 😁

Glad you stoped yourself when you were about to say “we all do that” when referring to using woman for sex. I had a 3 year horrible relationship with a sex addict who pressured me into sex often. I dispise men like that and to hear “we all do that” would hurt me even more and give me no hope for men
I am just starting step 8. After being in the program 10 years I finally acquire the sponsor. Work my way through this point. 2 years clean time behind. In this step petrifies me. I have a great sponsor who I'm gonna run things by.. But the mere premise of this step Absolutely rattles me.

Living without alcohol is very possible. It took me a while to get the hang of a sober life . But I did it and never looked back and so can you.

Step 8 is just making a list .Try not to get too ahead of yourself.
