- The Calgary Flames are slated to select ninth overall at the 2024 NHL Draft. Tij Iginla, the eldest son of franchise legend Jarome Iginla, is considered by many to be a top 10 prospect in this year's draft class. If he's available at ninth overall, should the Flames draft Tij Iginla?

They would be nuts not to do so!! And that's if he's still on the board when they get up there.
Absolutely take him.
Lose , lose scenario for the Flames, if they draft him and he doesn't become a top line player , they will get criticize for drafting the name,
if they don't draft him (and he is available) AND he becomes a top line player they get criticize for not picking him
and both scenarios the criticism will likely come from the same people in both scenarios.
Best scenario for the Flames is Iginla picked before they have to make that decision !
The flames should absolutely draft tij if he's available at number 9. If he's not available the flames will still get a fairly good player regardless, as the top 15 players are all good prospects.

should they? yes. will they? no. he wont make it past MTL.
Marty St. louis will likely be calling up Conroy on the day of the draft saying he's taking Tij at 5 to try and get an extra pick in the first round by trading down to 9. This would be a mistake as there will be as good of a player available at 9 with Tij going in the top 8.
I think if Tij is still there at 9, there is a good chance the flames take him. However, they will still pick the best available player on their draft board, which could be a D man.
Yes I think you hit it right on the head.If he is the best player available at draft time,he's your guy.Also trust your scouting people that's their job.
There is no question you draft Tij Iginla!! Flames should strongly consider trading up but if Tij goes early Flames will still get a great player at number 9..
