In 2016 while in Memphis for the international blues challenge my group the LH Express took a tour of Sun Studios and fell in love with the place. We sent them a message with some of our music and they managed to squeeze us in for a late night recording session on our last evening in Memphis. The timing was perfect as we were just starting to work on our second album “tearing up the rails “. We had three songs ready that really fit the vibe of the studio and knocked all the tracks out live off The floor then over dubbed vocals before leaving the studio with a USB key full of raw tracks around 3 AM. Curry Weber was an outstanding engineer, and the entire crew at the studio made us feel welcome. All these years later, and even with different gear in the studio than they initially had, the tracks we knocked out in 2016 sounded like they could’ve been recorded in 1961. The old school production style coupled with the sound of that room has such a distinct vibe. :-) We used the gear in the studio exclusively except for our own guitars and basses as we are from Ottawa Canada, and the blues challenge was a fly gig for us anyhow. I agree with you those drums sound amazing, and I used the house Princeton reverb which also sounded fantastic. All this to say it was an experience all of us will never forget, and it’s nice to hear that you had A great time there as well
I love how you got your old rock buddies reunited to go record some songs❤Keep Rocking N Rolling my friend!!
