Hey Kiwi ... Yeah, some of what I had to say here was tongue-in-cheek so bear that in mind. We love you too! It's the best rivalry in the sport ... and one of the best rivalries in all of sport.
@@frontrowrugby algood mate. I did pick up the tongue in cheek but the reality is the Boks are showing us how it's done. I agree with the points you made. Pick the best players wherever they are playing bru
Can't wait for next year! Do you think I could get away with travelling to New Zealand and leaving the wife and kids at home? I mean four plane tickets are a lot more expensive than one! Let's see if I can get that one past Mrs Front Row Rugby!
Cant get to far ahead of ourselves. All Blacks are still the All Blacks. Lets hope we stay grounded and enjoy the good times. All Blacks in NZ is another type of game. Not Eng,France, Jozi or Cape Town.
For sure! Look some of what I'm saying here is tongue in cheek of course. No doubt next year's two Tests in New Zealand are going to be epic. I can't wait!
Selecting only home based players is a very outdated methodology. I also don't buy the argument that making the overseas based players eligible for selection weakens the domestic system. If anything by SA allowing overseas players to be eligible for selection has deepened our depth because it has opened the door for other upcoming players to get their chance in our local teams. I think that's how we managed to survive out lock injury crisis earlier this year and enabled Rassie to pick 51 players this season
Plus the players can only play rugby for so many years, with there always being the risk of a career being curtailed by an injury. So a player should be allowed to take lucrative contract while they still can. The other advantage of an overseas player is that their club covers their salaries and medical, ect
Absolutely, Michael. The other thing is our best youngsters are a product of our schools and development programmes. You don't suddenly lose the en masse because going overseas is an option and even if you do, our systems are of such a nature that very good youngsters will keep coming through. The real issue is making sure that you always have some older, more experienced guys around who can help those youngsters when they first come into teams.
Precisely. I know there are people who say rugby players earn too much. I'd argue they should be earning more. A lot more! A professional rugby player earns peanuts relative to what a professional football player, or a IPL, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL player earns.
Haha, that's funny, Trevor. We should throw resources into helping our neighbours Namibia and Zimbabwe (some exciting things happening there actually), Kenya and Tunisia. But also, can you imagine West African countries rising up in rugby? We know the typical build of those fellas - imagine a pack of forwards from that part of the world!
Umm no, every other country in top tier are allowed to select overseas based players. To say its nz going to follow the box in allowing this is a stretch, you could easily say they follow anyone of a number of countries. It still has not been decided yet anyway so wait and see. It has been a real benefit to NZ over 100 years to select from within NZ but with so many quality players in teams overseas its a real selection headache and numbers may eventually be the tipping point and hand will be forced.
Not every country. Many have domestic-only or restrictive policies. New Zealand, Australia, England and Wales all have strict conditions for example. Also please bear in mind that some of what I've said here is tongue-in-cheek. But also of those "over 100 years" you mention at least 70 were in the amateur era so obviously all the players were selected from domestic-based teams. As you say your hand is likely to be forced eventually. I think it will be good for the All Blacks.
It's copying because we're the first to do it with flexibility. NZ are running out of quality options in Super Rugby, it's well documented that the best play in Europe/Japan, as they're paid the most due to their quality
Indeed, silly not to select your best available. Looking forward to next year. Sure it will be an excellent contest. Early prediction is that it will be 1-1 across the two matches.
Except the Springboks are not miles ahead of NZ. But I agree, NZs eligibility rules need to be adjusted. Maybe not to the extent of SAs policy but amended non the less.
@@DavidSmith-yi8ou Look, some of what I said there is a little tongue-in-cheek but for sure New Zealand are shooting themselves in the foot with this policy. As are the likes of Australia and England.
@ Australia is part way there. They can select players from overseas who have at least 60 caps I think. Honestly at the moment there really aren’t that many Kiwis playing abroad now that would be selected if available. Richie Mo’unga would, maybe Aaron Smith, Brodie Retalik and Leicester Fainga’unuku but that’s about it. Richie and Leicester returning next year anyway. NZ Rugby is in the process of electing a new board so new leadership may be just around the corner. It will change eventually.
Even if they do that, it will make them slightly better. However, since we are not in super rugby anymore I'm not sure how they are going to tackle that problem. They also need better competition.
All Blacks is a lot better team that some are trying to make out. Since their loss of 36 - 7 to the Springboks they only lost by 1, 4 and 6 points thereafter to SA. Nobody can for sure say that NZ will beat SA next year in NZ. Ireland won in NZ !!! These know alls in making predictions on results just proves their bad mentality.
Yes, look some of what I've said in the video is of course tongue-in-cheek (remember I make videos for Springboks supporters) but I think anyone who thinks the All Blacks are weak is gravely mistaken. Can't wait for next year. It is going to be a thriller I believe.
Nobody said, or think the All Blacks are a weak side. The worrying thing for the Kiwis are that they are not feared by many teams as in the past. The Springboks are a few of the teams that are prepared to take the Kiwis, head on. The depth of the Springboks cannot be ovelooked😊😊😊😊😊@@frontrowrugby
That's a bit absolute to say "nobody said". There are plenty of people who have said this All Blacks team is weak but I also disagree with that. In my view there is no such thing as a weak kiwi side. I think next year's two Tests in New Zealand have the makings of a classic!
Unfortunately you are completely wrong. And worst, Rugby is following football steps. I am from Brazil and we know very much about this situation. Brazilian National team no longer play Brazilian football that gave to us 5 World Cups. Now young players go to Europe to make money early in their carreer and grow up playing a European foitball like Messi does for Argentina ( completely different from Maradona who is the best player after Pelé ). If you, Sprinboks want to play a French or English rugby go ahead with this. And in a few years Springboks, All Blaks are going to become a Tier 2 team. It happened in Brazil, fans do not support anymore Brazil National team because there are no identity between players and fans, we don't even know their nomes, faces unless you pay to watch European Championship. I hope NZ don't to this 🙏
The Old Guard of rugby union will be changed and we will lead with the light. But this must be loked at pass trams deep into the leadership of WRU and its high paid puppeteers. The snub by them otothe curent supporters number could destroy our loved sport. The changes in laws constantly is making our game a joke.. change the old guard of WRU
Kiwi here. Why wouldn't we respect the best. We love the best and the Boks are the best. Love from NZ

South Africa is building incredible depth which is scary...
Love it! We've never had it this good.

It can help local players rise and shine whilst the other top players are overseas. I think it’s a win win actually
Absolutely!
In my view of things, South Africa is the problem child of world rugby. It is the only African Country which is feared in the World of Rugby
