Gotta admit, this DID dissuade me from pursing 3D animation. And I thought working in the space industry were bad! Pssh, nope. Not after seeing how these corporations treat their animators!
Great video! All things I wish I knew before working as a creative in general. I’m not in 3d animation but all these sentiments seem to be widespread across creative fields. It can be painful to learn and see how little respect our professions get. I don’t fault anyone for leaving after seeing the realities of toxic companies and how much craft is overlooked for profits at the expense of people. Also working in the industry of something you enjoy, in a way makes me enjoy it less. Since consuming it reminds me of work.
Great talk, the entire video is packed with great information and very little fluff! As a High school graduate looking into careers I would want to pursue, I found this video to contain some very interesting points. I think it was an apt summary at the end for our speaker to warn against a "naive" mindset going into this industry.
My opinion is that this industry can be really interesting and exciting because there are always changing technologies. I would say the only thing you have to worry about is burnout and anxiety when working
I've been experiencing burnout since graduating as soon as I started working and realizing this job is unstable. Is there alternate routes one can go that uses 3D skills?
i could barely find a vid about this topic on youtube! thank you so much for bringing a light on this topic, currently thinking to get into 3d animation as i am in my senior year of highschool!
@@sebabatsomashego7988 yep:) every career has its low and high aspect, true passion towards a goal or work can help to outweigh a negative side of it. But I feel like right now, it might be smart to have several passive of incomes because of all the instabilities lately.
Great vid! Yea it’s tough out there, especially now it seems. Lots of industry vets are having to take on low paying entry jobs so there is little to no openings for new people 🥲 The industry has its ebbs and flows
hi I have a business idea that we are trying to put in an animation format for prospecting. See attached and lets schedule a time to discuss this further.
Manufacture, delivery, cooking, cosmetic, cleaning, security, education, athlete, performance, music, finance, journalist...which one? It seems like all of them are screaming for help.
If you want to begin your animation journey, enroll in my mentorship class Beginner at animatorsjourney.com/beginner-course/
Doesn't matter if you're student or experienced, this is an interesting listen. thanks Lucas!

I went to school for animation and still can't get work.

I got one of those wage-fixing settlement checks! A nice surprise ten years later.
My questions is do you enjoy your work? Or do you still enjoy your work?
Thank you!
You’re welcome :)
