it depends on what kind of trip you want at that time. Do you want to relax at the resort or stay in the parks all day? The older i get, the more I want to hang at the resorts. ok, Quincy just made my point... sweet. 😃

The skyliner has forever changed my opinion about Caribbean Beach -- if you stay in rooms close to the hub, it's SUPER convenient.

I love & recommend Art of Animation for families. 6 of us (3 A, 3 C) stayed in a Lion King 1BR family suite w/2 full bathrms. We all loved it. Big plus for me is using The Skyliner for Epcot & Hollywood Studios -- so much better than a bus.

Hubby and I are staying at CBR in February just for the skyliner. We just stopped by the resort for the first time and even though I've seen so many reviews and heard the talk about how spread out it is, I couldn't BELIEVE IT when we got there and got to see for ourselves! We now know to request Jamaica and hope for the best so we can be as close to the skyliner as possible. The whole family is staying at All Stars Sports just for a place to sleep this weekend and I just booked a night for my birthday next year at POFQ as I've heard NOTHING but GREAT things about it and want to stay somewhere special. These will all be our first experiences with Disney resorts and we're so excited! Oh, and Pop Century for my son's birthday, also for the skyliner. 2024 is going to be a good year! :D

Listen, when you go to WDW you want to immerse yourself in the magic. For me there is no better place to do that then GF - especially at Christmas time. We stayed there in late November and got a new Mary Poppins room overlooking the water and the MK. I think I may have cried when we opened the door...... There is no better way to wake up in the morning than to make yourself a cup of coffee and go sit on your balcony and watch the boats and monorails and listen to the MK come alive. It is a remarkable feeling and will absolutely make all your troubles dissolve.....and give you that magic / Christmas feeling. I know it's pricey. I know it's really more for "Disney Adults". But I have never been made to feel out of place there. Cant wait to go back some day....

Skyliner is best transportation because you have some privacy especially at off-hours. You also get good views. So they bumps up Caribbean, Art of Animation and Pop Century in my book, all resorts that were specifically mentioned as ones they wouldn’t stay at. I think t Skyliner access is a game changer.

Loved Riverside. Visited French Quarter and the walk is so nice to go get Beignets. Prefer that Riverside is more spread out as its great to get away from the noise of people. Stayed on magnolia bend and we never felt the busses were a pain. We would either use the stop near us or walk for less than ten minutes to get to the main stop at reception. Had the option to try French Quarter next trip and just couldn’t choose it over Riverside. I guess everyones different though.

All Star Music is small enough that if you are only in the parks all day and sleep at the room, it works. The room has updated outlets and is not a very long walk to the rooms. All Star Movies have better rooms (slightly) but are further spread out. The family rooms are also a great option to have larger families. Movies also has the food court with the secret menu that has a really cool presentation (when available). Rooms are also updated. All Star Sports is spread out if you have a room in the back and the rooms are not updated so you can't charge your phone and your magic band plus and your battery pack without putting at least one item in a really strange location to be near an outlet. All Star Sports really is the worst resort. To make it even worse, it prices at over $200/ night a LOT ... for a motel!

I've never stayed on Disney property, I figure spend my money at the parks and the room is just a place to recharge before the next adventure. I get enough theming in the parks and have had mostly great experiences using airbnb which are sometimes themed anyway.

We've stayed at CBR, POR and POFQ so far and I wouldn't say no to returning to any of them, however I do think the new Little Mermaid rooms at CBR have removed the magic there, the pirates rooms were so much more 'imagineered'

Without all the perks, staying at a Deluxe Disney Resort just doesn't make sense. I was willing to pay Disney pricing to get the transportation, the baggage handling, the package delivery to the rooms and the extra hours. It made for a very stress-free vacation. But now?? After over 30 years of staying at Deluxe resorts I'm not sure I'm going back to Disney World. And the last few times we stayed we stayed at Grand Floridian for 2 weeks.

    • @michelle1
      @michelle1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree! I used to take the kids every other year to Contemporary...but now the rooms don't work for conventions since they don't have tables and chairs for working with a laptop and the space for clothes is missing without the dresser. The Magical Express being gone means we now use Lyft since Mears is too much for a family. I really miss the luggage transfer..that alone made it worth it to me to go to a Disney resort. At this point, I decided to stay off site. Just got back from a trip to Orlando with my daughter and we stayed at the Holiday Inn...so much better. There was plenty of space and free scheduled busses for transportation. The evening hours would have been nice, but those are the ONLY reasons why we would want to stay deluxe...and that just isn't enough to justify the $700+/night cost.

I love port orleans riverside since Dixie Landings was usually the resort of choice when i was younger. It brings back fond memories. I went in May and stayed in the princess room, but wasn't a huge fan, mainly because i'm a dude and have also never seen the Princess and the Frog, nor had my girlfriend or her son. The headboards were cool, and there was a lot of details, but as mentioned in the video, it seems the layout was pretty "Motel 6ish" that just happened to have a theme to it. I do wish each resort had deluxe rooms with at least two different themes like masculine and feminine. The Cars room is cool, but wish there were different themes at the moderate-deluxe resorts. We're planning on going back this year and either staying at Ft Wilderness or Saratoga Springs, but we shall see. Great video though, yall are pretty funny.

I'm staying here now and we've had no problems. It depends on if the cheerleaders are here but there are some here now and we've had no issues. We're staying right off the pool and during the day we hear some music, but as expected. I definitely don't think it's too noisy. We are on vacation and that's just part of it. I've stayed at resorts all the way from value to deluxe villas, and I'm totally fine with staying here in All stars to save some money sometimes.

We just stayed at CBR in May for the first time and I would not stay here again. We loved the skyliner but our room (Aruba) was so far from the lobby area and I'm not opposed to walking. I think it's because there's no shade. The main pool was so busy and they kept shutting off the waterslides. The food court was ok. We have stayed a POR (bayou) and loved it much more.

Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian. WL had a tiny room, buses to Epcot missed early hours every time and I was out there by 6:30 and the room had poor sound proofing. GF’s banged up rooms with generic decor do not justify the price. If I hadn’t had 2 previous good stays at YC, my 2021 stay would have landed it on this list due to poor soundmproofing post renno,, no where to get a pre rope drop breakfast and tons of bus issues.

I have to chime in about the Caribbean Beach Resort. I can see where the large scale of the resort can cause issues for little ones after a long day in the parks. I stayed there in 08. While I did get lucky to have a bus stop right next to my room which made it quite nice at the end of the day, the multiple stops along the route can be frustrating when you just want to lay down and rest. What I loved after a first-day learning curve, was walking to the main house for breakfast, then catching the bus to the park. The views were great and very peaceful instead of cramming into a bus just to get to breakfast. As far as the room goes, totally agree, basic, and seemingly cheap. Could use a huge upgrade.

  • @482Brisbane369
    @482Brisbane369 ปีที่แล้ว

Save yourself from the Disney craziness, it's cheaper (about 1/2 or less $, not Disney niclke and dime constant pocket draining) , less frustrating, 10x easier to book and go , less crowded at UO and its resorts. Disney abuses people's sense of nostalgia in their need for greed, Walt NEVER wanted this ! Walt wanted a place for AVERAGE families to feel wonderful, NOT used.

I’d agree four seasons is probably one of the best there is, that being said we are here for Disney world and are interested in Disney inspired resorts. Not to mention here’s a few critical amenities that four seasons doesn’t offer:
    *Club level
    *Location
    *Fireworks view
    *Ambience and style (updated Victorian)
What Four seasons has that gf doesn’t:
    Water park
    Larger base rooms

I think Riverside suffers from its name. It was never meant to have a port orleans vibe - just a Deep South turn-of-the-century vibe. When they changed the name (for good reason) they positioned it to be forever compared to French Quarter. Independent of the POFQ comparison, it holds up much better under scrutiny

I've seen this question before on other sites and my answer is always, I'd never say never to any of them. I actually did say that the first time I stayed at Sports, yet, sure enough, I stayed there again. Now that they have renovated the All Stars they really aren't that bad. Having said that, I probably wouldn't stay at any of the value resorts for an entire trip, I use them as a one or two night stay at the front of a split stay. I'm actually doing 2 nights at Music coming up in April, then moving over to Dolphin for 5 nights. I have stayed at CB and while it wasn't my favorite, I would probably stay there again if I couldn't get into CSR. POR, I loved it. I stayed in the Magnolia Bend section, there was a bus stop right behind my building. I'm a walker (back then I was a jogger) so I got up every morning and jogged around the resort then found a little tucked away spot and did yoga. There are tons of those around POR. FQ on the other hand, one of the few resorts I have not stayed in and have no desire to do so. It just looks too motel like to me, I'm not a fan of the over the top theming, hated New Orleans (I've been there 3 times but only once, the first time, was for leisure. The other two times were for conventions I was part of a hosting group for). Like Hannah, I'm not a fan of beignets. GF, I love it. Have stayed there and did not feel out of place at all. But then, I also don't feel out of place at 4 Seasons or at All Stars so there is that. My only reasons for not staying there any more is it has gotten too expensive and MK is only a half day or a pop in and pop out in a few hours park for me. The one resort I don't see myself staying in is AoA. My reason, it's way to expensive for a value resort. If I need a suite, I'm staying at the one at All Stars.

Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside back in November/December 2019 and again in December 2022… I feel like the resort has gone downhill since the pandemic. Was not impressed with the rooms, since the pandemic they have stopped changing sheets/making beds during your stay. All of the vending machines across the resort were out of water and ate our money or spit out a different drink. Overall I agree with the ‘Motel 6’ feeling. I will say, half of us stayed in the Princess room back in 2019 and half in Magnolia Terrace vs all of us staying in Magnolia Terrace in 2022. I will always enjoy the food court and pontoon boats there, but not enough to make up for the cons of this resort. Halfway through our stay we switched to the Waldorf Astoria (previously planned to make this switch) and WOW the difference in quality/vibes was insane. PO-R is not worth the price tag anymore in my opinion.

I have stayed at all of the All-Star Resorts. Worth the price for what you get. I would not stay at any of them again because it is really loud. Buses are terrible. Always crowded and depending on where you are coming from, the buses go to all three rather than just one Resort. Pop Century and Art of Animation are a better option, the price is close to the All-stars and it is not as crowded and there is more than one way to get to the parks especially EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with the Skyliners. My favorites are the ones at the Boardwalk area because they are nice and I can walk to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. I am a teacher and save up all year so that I can do my one week vacation at a nice hotel with great staff and comfort.

We just got back from Port Orleans Riverside (Royal Rooms). This used to be one of our favorite resorts but I think I am falling out of it. Maybe our decision changed with kids? The children loved the room, but hated the food. I agree on the food, we ended up getting yogurt cups anytime we had to eat at the resort. My son had us going broke over the Uncrustable sandwiches (adding this to my lessons learned list 😊).

Had no idea what the B hotel was. Can we have a Quincy hotel tour for this? Rates look solid but seems some mixed reviews. Would like one of the thorough All Ears reviews for that one since so few have reviewed.

I stayed at Caribbean Beach in October of 22, and I was never bothered by the walk or the bus stops. Maybe that's because it was my first time at Disney World and I didn't have anything else to compare it to, but my experience wasn't as crazy as some people make it sound

Here I was thinking of Jack Sparrow when Quincy said she likes one pirate in particular. Almost spit my tea out when she said Captain Hook. 😂

There is no mermaid on the pulldown headboard. But there's a blank spot where she could have gone, lol.

We just came back from spending 8-9 days at Port Orleans Riverside. We opted for the princess royal guest rooms because we thought our kids (9 & 7 yo girls) would get a kick out of it.
My overall impression was pretty favorable. The royal princess room is heavily themed, and fun. But it's aging; the materials are wearing out a bit. Also...the rooms are small. For how long we stayed with our family of 4, our stuff just exploded all over that room....and it only got worse as we bought more and more souvenirs at the parks.
The resort grounds are fairly nice. The New Orleans theming is fun. The pool was great. They have horse carriage rides. You can take a ferry to Disney Springs, which is fun. The food was pretty good, never got overly busy (even over our Christmas/New Years stay). The gift shop was nice. And from our particular room, in Parterre Place, it was easy to get to the buses. Also, the bus stops never got very busy.
However...there is a tiny bit of Motel 6 vibe. I think it's because you enter all the rooms from the outside. Which just sorta feels downscale.
Also...we used to love AOA family suites. We still like AOA...but it's looking a bit old. And what's with the lighting in the hallways where the rooms are? Seems so dim and sad! lol

All most all of the resorts have rooms that are open to the outdoors. The Deluxe are more Hotel style with room doors that open to hallways.

I was rather disappointed with our Little Mermaid room at Art of Animation, but our youngest LOVED it. And the resort itself was fine, so probably WOULD stay there again. But I understand Quincy picking that one.

I think if I was going to stay there I'd stay in Finding Nemo to minimize walking. (Even though it looks like a Disney cartoon vomited all over the resort. 🤮)
