    Thank you - this is exactly what I have been looking for to put Bible stories into some kind of easily understood geographical context for some kids I'm working with. It's so simple and clear. Thanks for your work in making it!

      Jewish kids arround 11-12 years old they get a biblical hebrew readin of the Torah by themselves alone, tell them about that. And tell them to get the 5 books of Moses and read by themselves.

    its wayyyy easier to understand the Bible if you know where all the places are. i found the Bible so hard to read as a child because of all the names and places, but seeing everything on a map is so helpful in giving perspective.

      Either way the people came to the land via conquest, not invite. So the only princple that we can learn from this is that whoever is strong enough to hold the land and govern it, is the rightful owner of it. Anyway, both Mohammad and the Jews tell us to use the OT and so the OT tells us that Israel was given to the Jews BY GOD. So if anyone has any claim to it then it is certainly them.

    As Abraham came from Ur, a sumerian city, can we assume he was sumerian?

    • @TheObserversTV
      @TheObserversTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Abraham came from Ur Kasdim (Chaldees), which would've been in Upper Mesopotamia (Assyria). Also, his name is Semitic/Assyrian meaning 'High Father'. 1 major issue about Abraham being from the 'Land of the Chaldees' yet being from Sumerian city of Ur is that around the 20th century BC, when Abraham was alive, the "Chaldeans" were not established as an entity or province in southern Mesopotamian Ur until around the 9th century BC when the Chaldeans migrated south.
      Another interesting fact is that in different Akkadian dialects, the "S" sound is interchangeable with the "L" sound, so Kasdi became Kaldi (Chaldean) over time.

    • @Emcee_Squared
      @Emcee_Squared 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Ur of Abraham is uncertain. There is also an “Urfa” in Turkey which they claim was his home. This was way closer the Canaan and adjacent to Haran, the city he stops at on his way to Canaan. I think it’s a good candidate. The Sumerian Ur may have had semitic peoples in it during the time of Abraham assuming he lived around the 18th century BC. That is when a large influx of Amorites migrated into mesopotamia, and pretty much took over (Hamurabi, king of babylon, and Shamsi Adad I, king of Assyria, were both of Amorite descent). The Amorites were very similar to other north western semitic groups, including the Canaanites, Arameans, and Hebrews. So is it possible there was a Hebrew by the name of Abraham living in Sumer in the early part of the late bronze age? Not really, since nobody would have identified as a Hebrew at that time as the Hebrew language had not even evolved into existence. Paleo-hebrew descends from canaanite, and the hebrews and arameans were both very close. Haran was an Aramean trading town and in genesis both Isaac and Jacob get their wives from their. Their families were essentially mixed Aramean and Hebrew. Nowadays it is believed the Hebrews were a branch of the Canaanites who sought to create their own culture and identity distinct from that of those who they came from. Similar to how Christianity is a branch of Judaism.

    • @DarrenGedye
      @DarrenGedye 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The bible clearly states that Ur Kasidim was on the other side of the Euphrates, and that they passed Haran on the way to Canaan. Sumerian Ur fits none of those criteria.

    LOGIC is defined as “the science of correct thinking”. If you are not a member of the Catholic Church, ARE YOU LOGICAL? Before you answer, read first the following:
    “THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TRUTH!!!
    The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ, and its “constitution”, called the Bible, are the Old Testament and the New Testament (compiled by Pope Damasus I & called “Bible” by Pope Selecius). Jesus said: “Thou art Peter, the rock, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Mathew 16:18). “Think not that I come to destroy the law and the prophets (Old Testament). I come not to destroy but to fulfill (New Testament).” (Mathew 5:17).
    Almost all other so-called Christian churches, were organized by operations of law, and therefore, are mere JURIDICAL organizations, which were organized by men by adopting the Bible of the Catholic Church as their “constitution” but giving it interpretations different from the official interpretations of its owner, the Catholic Church.
    Jesus gave authority to Peter (and his successors, the. Popes) to make “infallible decisions on heavenly matters”, when He said in Mathew 16:19: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever Thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever Thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
    Jesus then gave authority to the eleven disciples to teach and baptize all nations: “Go ye therefore and teach all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe whatsoever I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always till the end of the world.” (Mathew 28:19-20).
    Only the Catholic Church was given by Jesus Christ authority to baptize and to teach. Since the Catholic Church has the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, it follows that only the faithful members of the Catholic Church can use the keys to enter the Kingdom of heaven.
    Those who are not members of the Catholic Church are ergo against the Catholic Church headed by Christ, and so, they are anti-Catholic Church and anti-Christ. And so, they cannot use the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, which were given only to the Catholic Church, impliedly for its faithful members.
    From the year 33 A.D. to the year circa 1517 A.D., there was only one church of God the Son Jesus Christ, now called Catholic Church to distinguish it from many other man-made juridical organizations.
    All those who are not members of the Catholic Church headed by Christ are ANTI-CATHOLIC CHURCH and are impliedly ANTI-CHRIST. BE REMINDED THAT IT IS CHRIST WHO WILL COME TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD ON THE LAST JUDGEMENT DAY. (END)”
    (Compiled by Jun Densing)

      Friend, I disagree.
      I was raised in the Catholic Church. My mom was a devout Christian in the Catholic Church. I was baptized at two weeks, and of course first communion and confirmation as well. And thank God through my mother’s introduction to Christ. But I did not know Jesus as my Lord and Saviour till I was 53 . And only by Gods grace and mercy can I call myself a child of God ( I like Man of God now) . I was a functioning addict living in this fallen world. And living for self . I was led by the Holy Spirit to Calvary Baptist church . Where I believe I’m hearing the word (Bible) taught to me the way it should . No Hail Mary, no priest advocating as God the father. Showing up every week, month year and confessing my sins and say 5 Hail Mary. Now I know what true repentance is . I have a direct line to Christ who lives in me now. To help me with my obedience.
      The sprinkling of water at two weeks of age is not baptism . Baptism is emersion and testifying your obedience to God before others and accepting Jesus into your life in front of others believes . You should know this as it is written in the early part of the book of John .
      Again , I respect the Catholic Church because my Mother was a God fearing , humble , gracious, loving women of faith.
      And maybe other denominations as well.
      But I am convicted by the Holy Spirit the word , the message I’m being fed through Calvary is the truth, way and life .
      I appreciate your thoughts as well , and pray that we can both go and make disciples.
      Blessings

      The Catholic Church is not part of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Apostles, then word of God, which was later written in homes and delivered to the Albigensian people, who were being persecuted by the Catholic Church because they were independent and were not Gnostics. The Bible made its way into Europe, then to the rest of the entire world. English became the dominant language here in 2024 around the world. God does not dwell in a temple made with hands. Jesus says we are the body of Christ, a holy temple. Revelation 17.

      The Bible is the real literal words of God, and since God can't lie, the Bible is truth. This is believed by Christians and Jews and other related religion. Christianity expounds on this by adding the New Testament as well. It is the original Hebrew and Greek texts that are inspired, which is the term used to describe how God wrote the Bible, which is inspiring writers and telling them what to write

      @okon7464 But what are you saying isn't historical fact and how do you know. I understand all the criticism about the first few chapters of Genesis, but those chapters don't make up the whole Bible. If there are unattested parts of the Bible, such as the Abraham story, that doesn't mean the stories are false. It just means that we don't have any independent attestation for it.
      So what stories aren't historical and how would you know? Why would you say that they aren't historical?

    • @okon7464
      @okon7464 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @blusheep2 In the Bible Abraham is from Chaldaean Ur, Chaldaeans werent in Ur till VI century BCE, which means the story was written around VI century BCE, because author had no idea about, he was writing based on information he had.
      We have no archeological records for jews being enslaved, no archeological records for conquer of Kanaan, no records for united jewish kingdom of David. These stories just don't fit into the world. I recommend to read Mario Liverani's works

    • @blusheep2
      @blusheep2 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @okon7464 Certainly Ur of the Chaldeans is one of those Biblical references that have confused scholars for some time. That doesn't mean it was written later. One simple option is a scribal update. Where an older unknown city was updated to its modern name so that the readers would understand the story better.
      Another possibility mentioned by many scholars is that the Ur that Abraham lived in was the UR in Turkey, and not Babylon. The Hebrew word translated "Chaldeans" has a few other possible translations though they aren't favored. So I think this is a question that still hasn't been satisfactorily answered but it doesn't force the conclusion that the story is a late fabrication.
      As for archeological records of Jews being enslaved, this is a bit true and a bit false. What we have records for is Semitic slaves which Jews were a part of that greater group. I could go into more detail but when the Hyksos were kicked out of Egypt, those that couldn't flee as fast as the armies and administration, were enslaved and we know this from the biography of the general that expelled them from Avaris.
      Not only that we know from archeology that Avaris, the captial of the Semitic Hyksos dynasty, remained a Semitic city for quite some time following the Hyksos expulsion. We also know archeologically that the city of Avaris became a ghost town in the middle of Rameses II's reign because the people of Pi-Rameses used the entire site as a graveyard. Avaris at its height, held 100,000 people. Its was a gigantic Semitic city. The Hebrews would have been mixed up with this group.
      We do have archeological records of the conquest of Canaan. First we have the Mereneptah Stele from the late Bronze Age IIb. This victory stele records Mereneptah's defeat of the Libyans and some cities in Canaan after they rebelled. It mentions the people Israel in the land and brags that Mereneptah put them in their place. The way they are referred to is as a people group and not yet a nation which is exactly what we should be expecting as the conquest had just begun.
      At this same time, (Late Bronze IIb and early Iron Age I) it is now agreed that there is a population explosion. Not a reshuffling of the current people. Over 300 new settlements spring up throughout Canaan and they are all Hebrew settlements.
      On top of this we have a destruction layer at Hatzor, a city said to have been burned in the conquest, dating to the time of the conquest. As of 2023 we have found the wall of Jericho from the time of the Conquest, as well. Though detractors had been saying for years that there was no city at the time of the conquest, we now have proof that there was. It wasn't detected earlier because their has been a massive amount of site leveling during later periods.
      There now is ample evidence of a united kingdom under David and certainly under Solomon. What you said is outdated. We now have found building construction such as the ones at Queiyfa(sp?) during David's reign and the gates of Gezer, Megiddo, and Hatzor that could only have been undertaken if there was a centralized government.

      Many historical accounts support what happened in the Bible judges onward,
      You can choose to say it isn't real just because it's biblical but that doesn't change its accuracy

    It is kind of cute to see anyone think there is any historicity in the bible.

      It's fun to see someone talk about the Bible without having a clue about it. For example: 1 Kings (3 Kings),
      2 Kings (4 Kings), 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles. There are tons of historically confirmed things. You can be atheist and absurdly ignorant at the same time.
