  • Austerity, comfort or luxury? You can experience all three with our unique trio of Volkswagen Split-Window Beetles, that we proudly offer for sale from a private collection. Known as Bugs in the US and Käfer in their native Germany, these examples represent the very early days of VW production and how it all began. They also give a fascinating insight into life after World War II and explain why this clever design became such an incredible success story. Available individually, in pairs, or as a trio, for the discerning collector, whishing to own an important piece of early Volkswagen history.

Thank you so much! So if you had a '73, it probably was what you call a 'Super Beetle' with curved windscreen? Cool :) Yes, the toolbox is a lovely extra. We'll have a '78 Beetle Cabriolet coming in soon. Limited Edition. Might be perfect for touring around those lakes! Thanks for watchin and commenting!

Beautiful! 8:24 That's what Germans call "Rheumaklappe". Very rare today.

Thank you! I've learned something new. Didn't know the ventilation flaps were called this in German, but perhaps cold draught from them in winter was not the healthiest for joints... And yes, they're rare, only for 1951-52. Both the Cabrio and the brown Export model have them! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed our video! Yes, the Cabriolet Karmann is stunning but all three cars are a piece of history. If you like early Volkswagen, do view our video of a fantastic pair of early 'Lowlight' Karmann-Ghia:

Thank you for commenting and happy you like the Chestnut Brown Beetle. It's also my personal favourite in this amazing trio. You'll find plenty of great pictures on our website:

    Standard Mobil 😮

The 'Standard' Beetle really displays the need for affordable mobility after WWII. Nothing you don't need. If you're US based, it's also very rare, as these cars were meant for the German home market. All others got the 'Export' model, like the brown car in the video.

I understood that the early Beetles had 1000 cc engines?

    • @petrolheadclassics

The Split-Window Beetles actually had a 1,1 l air cooled boxer with 25 hp. Thanks for watching!

I have called the dealer a few times, but no one seems to pick up the phone... Anyone know the price of the standard?
