The one person I'm aware of who is a life coach claims he was a 'victim' of the 'Heaven's Gate cult and that he had to spend '$150k" on life coaches to get to where he is in life. He even claims that he didn't see any results 'for years' so apparently one is supposed to pay money to these scammers for years before there any tangible results. He readily admits that he could have left the 'cult' at any time and that when he wanted to leave he was given $1,000 and sent off with best wishes. But he uses his alleged victimhood in the HG group as a selling point for his life coaching business. It seems to me that he has a vested interest in playing the victim and convincing others that they are victims that need to pay him money for 'self-development'. It's such an obvious scam but he seems to actually believe his own b.s.
I’m pretty sure all of those evidence-based coaching approaches you listed are based on psychotherapy approaches. And ACT IS a therapy approach. This is where the lines between therapy and coaching get very blurred.
Have you ever worked with a life coach? What was your experience like? ☺️

Slay babe. As someone with a masters degree, that follows strict and rigorous ethical standards.. this life coaching stuff is a slippery slope.
