Colin Murray handles this well, he takes the lead from them and maintains the right tone perfectly. See him almost crack up constantly makes this priceless!
I was totally raging at the BBC coverage of live earth, cutting into Metallica and not showing the full epic redition of Big Bottom featuring all the bass players led by the legend derek smalls.
The movie came out in 1984. Legendary Toto drummer Jeff Porcaro died in literally "a bizarre gardening accident." He seemed very cool. I hope he got a kick out of the irony. it was a heart attack. Supposedly from hardening of the arteries due to prolonged cocaine use. But as he died in the garden, it was rumored that he was topically poisoned by insecticide. cocaine isn't a joke. It's not dose specific to OD. And it apparently does bad things to your heart. As contested as it was by his family and friends, you have to make an effort to die from hardening of the arteries at age 38. Doesn't seem to be evidence of addiction, but it doesn't require that to kill you, either. You could die the first time you use it. As there's no X amount that will kill you.
At 1:11 when Colin says "...exhausts attached to your guitars..." I think Harry Shearer broke character. Nigel responds "of course" (which was so quick and witty in and of itself), David says "that's true" and I think you hear Shearer laugh. Colin smiles, and the next shot of Harry Shearer shows him just removing his hands from his face.
I love how David never listens to Nigel's bullshit anymore, like the pyramid story (and the story about the tiny woman on the 'Back From The Dead' DVD)....
@tomthefunky You prove a good point! They ARE a band, they're as much musicians as they are comedians. look at the performance at the freddy mercury tribute. Haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thing with Spinal Tap interviews (USUALLY) is, that the host interviewing doesn’t know what to say or how to fuel the humour; I really think YOU’VE misread this interviewer - as he perfectly leads the band down avenues of humour, that you can clearly see that even they enjoyed riffing off - perfect questions, delivered in the most authentic dead pan…they don’t run rings around the interviewer, they are being encouraged by his knowledge of the band and the humour.

Why radio 1 and not 2 , bonkers
Disappeared into a hologram 😅
There's this arrogance about this one guy. Haha
I wanted him to go further with that bit, but I guess no one was biting, haha. Totally saw what he did there.
Lovely to see these three clever comedians run rings round the vacuum host
They really weren't running rings around him. They worked well together
You misread it. The host was excellent, cued them up, didn't get in the way, and played it mostly straight, which takes skill to do right.

#StopTheMadness
Murray is poor. Always has been. This interview could and should of been so great. Be ashamed Murray, go back to local radio
Wrong. He played it straight. Was a good foil.
