Love this little bag. I made four in matching fabric for my three sisters and me and now I’m making one for my husband (in a slightly less feminine fabric although he doesn’t care what I use, but I didn’t want ours to get mixed up) just a couple of inches longer to hold the electric toothbrush case and his few toiletries. And I added inside pockets to all of them for those little things you may need to keep separate. What fun!

Debbie, I first found this pattern online during Covid lockdowns. A lifesaver. Been a few years now and I am so happy to have seen your video. Has renewed my interest in sewing and I cannot wait to get back to it. I made a template for myself that I found so that will make the process even quicker. Thank you! Cannot wait to see what other easy sewing projects you have available!

Thank you for the free pattern. Finally finished a bag which I played around with the size. Followed every step of your tutorial and got beautiful results, a couple minor imperfections with the zipper as this was the first time I did one. You have great talent for sewing and thanks again. So, the finished sizes came to approx 11.5" top, 12.5" bottom and height 8". Will be making more for gifts.

.I loved following your instructions I have been sewing for years but quit for the last 15 and took it back up. I made an awful bag yesterday and really depressed me. But I pulled up my big girl panties and tried again today stopping and starting the TH-cam so I could follow you along. You gave great instructions and I am pretty happy with my little bag. I am going to make the roll next and use this for traveling. I am going to make a smaller one to match for carrying electronics, and then matching tote bag and handbag. I feel more optimistic today that I will get it done. I have made a few totes already. But thank you, thank you for the great instructions.

I made two of these as Christmas presents and they turned out fabulous. It was my first time working with a zipper. My second bag came out better than the first but that’s to be expected. I really took my time to line up the layers when prepping to sew the zipper. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this video.

Thank you so much for this video, and the free pattern! I've been wanting a zipper bag to put some of my most-used sewing supplies into (seam ripper, magnifying glasses, pen, seam gauge, tiny scissors, a little dish to hold my thread clippings, etc.). This zipper bag was just the thing, and it tucks right into my sewing machine case. Oh, and it was adorable seeing your cat's feet when he decided to come and make an appearance in your video! Hubby and I have two cats, and they also love to "help" when I'm sewing. 🐱

Love the bag! You made it look so easy. I’ve been sewing for 4 weeks so far, though haven’t had my machine for the last two weeks, as it’s being serviced (it’s my mum’s old Toyota 30). However, I’ve spent that time going to sewing classes and learning the different terminology, as well as using my sewing teacher’s machine. One more row of top stitching, add some Velcro and I will have made my first project - an iPad case made with woodland inspired fabric. Very excited! I’m going to check out your blog and find the pattern for this. Can’t wait to make it on Monday when I get my sewing machine back! Thank you! X

I generally use a 10" zip, but it wouldn't be hard to increase the pattern a little, if you wanted to all you need to do is print the pattern at 110% or so. I did increase my pattern, but laid out the original then used a pencil and ruler to increase it all the way around by 1" . Hope this helps a little

Hi Deby, loved you up-dated cosmeticbag. The flowery patterns did not suit my daughter so I used some old jeans to make her one, with the improved version. I Also made the the flap a little larger to cover the brushes and a little bit of velcro on outer edges to hold the brushes in places. (just in case the brushed may slip out when closed up) .
