Censorship doesn't change plot canon. Poison and Roxy canonically exist in the Street Fighter universe, as do Mary and Eliza in the Japanese version of Final Fight 2. The first boss of Final Fight 2 canonically wielded a meat cleaver.

Not true, Poison and Roxy were indeed designed as women, and for all intents and purposes they are. Back in the day, every action film and action videogame such as a beat'em up - had to have it's "bad girl" - occasionally dressed in leather and always coming to beat up your protagonist. So that was kind of a vintage action genre staple. (even James Bond had those) But, later, when the characters were already designed - certain elements started to complain about "beating up girls in a videogame" nonsense. My guess is that Final Fight just turned a bad luck in this department, cause there were many games out there with that feature... So the designer made a smart castling move: he announced that the two are, in fact transgender. They have left the subject in ambiguity on purpose, so that the fans (and others) will keep on arguing about it, which happens up to this day. But, if you've got the hots for either of the twins - feel free to cast semantics aside and keep on with your crush, deciding whatever they are :-)

You could see Jessica's bra and the crook said, "Oh my God." However, just months later, all versions I saw were censored. You should have a look at Vendetta /Crime fighters. The Japanese version had a hard gay parody in it. They were completely edited out in the European and US version.
in spain it came with the gays licking at you, so i don´t know which europe version are you talking about.
I can remeber very clearly, how funny and popular that game was with the schoolmates at the several local town acades then.
gay characters in the game also liked to lick the lightpoles and rape you when you were lying on the floor.

Hmm I just assumed I guess. Way back I remember going on holiday to Spain and seeing Mortal Kombat and how there were only friendships as finishers. i own both the SNES and super famicom versions of the game. plus i have the capcom comp disks with it to.

You didn't mention how in Final Fight Double Impact for PS3 and XB360, all the censorship was undone.
+Shinin Row It should have been mentioned, you're right, but, it's a port of the arcade version and thus should be compared with that. In other words, all is uncensored but Jessica missing from the intro.
Honestly 98% of the changes do not effect gameplay. I really never did see why games being censored pissed so many people off. I know fight the power and crap.
