- Guitar Fetish has addressed the two main concerns I had about this guitar:
1) they are aware of the headstock issue and have fixed it for future deliveries
2) the didn’t use the heavy duty brass/steel tremolo because that would increase the overall cost of the instrument, and they wanted to keep it affordable, which is absolutely reasonable and understandable, and honestly what I assumed. So it would make an excellent upgrade if you feel the tremolo is lacking (which I don’t, I think it’s just fine).

I’ve been sneaking a peek at this guitar every day at work for months (y’know, when I should be working) but haven’t pulled the trigger on one yet. Your demo has pushed me a little closer to the tipping point.
And Hey! You’re a real guitar player. Don’t diminish yourself. You have an excellent rhythmic feel.
What's pushing me away is the similar harley benton one comes with a legit floyd rose.

The thing to watch out with on these more inexpensive guitars with "licensed" Floyd Roses is that they're often cheap Chinese pot metal instead of hardened steel. They wear out much faster, the edges at the pivot points wear and get blunted because the metal is so soft. I've got to imagine these guitars are using the cheap Floyds because of the price point...legit good Floyds are over $150 or so. Look for actually branded Floyds, or Schallers, or some of the brand name copies, like Ibanez or Jackson.
I actually picked up a Wilkison branded Gotoh clone on aliexpress for about £30 and a magnet was attracted to all of the parts aside from the zinc block, so there's a decent chance of an all steel construction.
@@Furiora I haven't heard bad things about Wilkinson...they might be okay stuff. You seem to have found a good one, anyway.
Also gotta be aware that even though it says Floyd Rose on the hardware doesn't mean it IS a Floyd. Harley Benton uses these and they are NOT very good quality.

Dan, I'm a guitar modder and builder and have used GFS parts and pickups for years!! The VEH pickups are my favorites and I love quick plug.
Dan-been waiting for this ever since you did the unboxing vid-gotta say it was worth the wait! You covered most of my questions; definitely helps me make an informed decision about the XV550.
One thing I do still have a question about-as far as clean tones how is the clarity at volume? Again, thanks for following through on this review! I have been looking forward to it and you didn't disappoint at all-keep up the great work!

You said the GFS guys were receptive to your input about the headstock-would you maybe talk to them about rounding the heel a lil bit? that'd make this thing a no-brainer for sure
I've always had good luck with Xaviere products. I have the DLX II spalted maple bass and it sounds and plays great. I also have an acoustic model they no longer make but sounds phenomenal.
I own a blue burst pro550, been my main axe since September. Had some fun customizing it with gold hardware and it looks pretty slick. Also you could have just taken out one of the pickups and you’d have seen everything.
I looked into those pretty deep a couple years ago. At that time people said they came very unfinished (like fret leveling truss rod stuff like that) they may be addressed those things by now
That's an awesome guitar! Very nice, very fun instrument. And yes, for what it is, that's an excellent price point. I'm kinda thinking other directions on my guitars right now, but I would enjoy an LP style guitar at some point.

Love everything about this guitar except the headstock. Guitar Fetish revamped the headstocks on their S and T style guitars. The paddle oar on this one has to go.
Aww. I like that headstock! Tho as Dan says, it could stand to be about a quarter-inch shorter, to fit in its case.

Love GFS pickups it's the best thing they do. The hardware can also be good if you're careful. For instance the floyd is not a direct retrofit to say OFR, special or gotoh, the plate is larger. But the plate/saddles are steel and the block is heavy brass, so it's good for parts at least.
I had the Epiphone Plus Top FX guitar. It came with a Floyd Rose and locking nut. First thing I did was REMOVE the locking nut. I detest locking nuts. I simply made sure the strings at the nut were well lubricated and I never had a tuning issue.

Hey thanks for asking! We finally got the county permit to drill the well, now we are waiting on the state permit. Should be soon, the drilling company is ready to go as soon as the permit comes! It’s taken way longer than it should 🤦♂️🤷♂️ and I have done a couple videos on routing not too long ago! One on freehand routing, and one on template routing. Both have links to routers and bits I use!
Just got my 9 year old his first electric guitar what is a good step to start teaching him.
Dan, I always watch your vids, always great! Love your shirt. And have always liked GFS! Only thing I'd change on that guitar would be the knobs. The gold color just doesn't seem to quite go with the rest of it. M'self, I'd run chrome (also from GFS.) But, just a personal preference, that's all.
I agree, chrome knobs and chrome pickup rings would make this thing extremely classy! I actually plan to do those, and maybe switch the pickup selector tip to black as well.

Received my PRO555 today. I have to agree with Dan & BunkMasterFlex77 about the guitar case. Paying $94 for a case that I have to jam the guitar into isn't right.
I tried doing a search on your channel for any XGP builds you may have tried. I'd be interested to get your impression of Guitar Fetish's premium bodies and necks. I'm in the process of building a partscaster using mostly Guitar Fetish parts, pickups, and electronics.
I’ve only done one gfs guitar kit and it was somewhat underwhelming. Although I had word that they won’t be selling that kit anymore so maybe the premium line will be much better
Hi, Dan! I have 2 of those Guitar Fetish brass and steel Floyd Rose vibrato units. I think that they are high in quality and can improve the sustain and tone of a guitar. They did both those things in the 2 Ibanez guitars I installed them in. The drawback is that these vibratos are massive and they make the axes HEAVY! I should also mention that my Ibanez guitars had vibrato recesses that were shaped like the one in your Xaviere. When installing my units, I had to cut wood out to make room. I FOR SURE won't buy another Ibanez and then mod it; Ibanez uses many nonstandard parts. Because of this fact, I did much cosmetic damage to my axes -- nothing as ugly as Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstein, but not pretty. I don't imagine you would have results as bad as mine, but you'd still better watch the weight.
A question: Is the block on your Xaviere vibe magnetic? I'm curious as to what they put in that guitar!
Thanks for the heads up! This guitar already weighs 9 lbs so maybe I’ll skip that brass tremolo upgrade. I didn’t do the magnet test, I’ll have to try next time I have the back cover off!

I should have figured that guitar for boat anchor weight. I doubt it's weight relieved, either. I still might look into one, though. I still wish I had been able to buy that Epiphone with the Floyd; that Xaviere would be a nice substitute. In the meantime, enjoy yours!🤘
I'd probably try and switch up pickups and the tremolo. Just because. Still the quality sound seems rather nice. Might grab up one here
Like all guitars.. when doing the low E to drop D even with the fine tune adjustment on the low E to go to drop D, all other strings will go sharp from an actual true drop D tuning...
Yes its technically impossible to alter the tuning on any floating trem.
Yes, like on any tremolo. You still need to touch up the tuning on the other strings as well. It’d be the same if you didn’t have a locking nut, so it’s nice that with this trem you don’t need to unlock the nut
@@GunsandGuitars A vintage trem, decked hard, no locking nut, can change tunings all day long.
Its the float that causes all the nightmares.

You should spend $20 and get the Floyd Rose pop-in bar with assembly, these have a rubber grommet, and set screw so you can keep the bar from dangling, and Goldilocks the perfect amount of give for your preference.

Actually, locking tuners allow faster string change. That's probably why they're included.
They aren’t locking tuners. That I can understand. These are just really nice smooth fine standard tuners 🤷♂️

the "blemish" on the case is very likely the fact that it's a bit too small..... Saying that headstock is "too big" is a bit of a stretch IMO...

Bought a Tele from these guys. It looked great however, the frets were not junbo and the intonation made it unplayable. I could have had a tech hook it up but I HATED the neck
How is the action out of the box? Last two Xaviers I got were like trying to play High Tension Wires and I sent them back. Despite trying to adjust the action I just couldn't get it very low.
Mine was perfect if not a little too low. It had a little fret buzz. After changing the strings to my normal gauges, I did a full setup and it plays beautifully

The blemish on the case is the case is too short. Ever think of that?
I think the only thing it lacks is sustain. Brass block would fix that.
I almost snapped up one of the (dinky style) super strats they used to have.... still kinda wish I had

It is a pitty but iff I would try to go and buy from guitarfettish in Europe will cost me about 60 euro to send it to Europe and then I have to pay another extra 21 percent over the guitar and shipping then the guitar would cost me about 500 euro’s and for that price I could buy me a Kramer whit the same specs in Europe , so not so cheap

I wish they would give an option on the inlays, I just REALLY dislike those inlays. If nothing else just have a dot inlay option. Those...I'm not even sure what to call them, are just not attractive to me.
Yeah they are kind of like a Celtic corn flower I guess 🤷♂️ I kinda like them though. Personally I think inlays are worthless anyway so I’d be good with whatever

not sure how you could go wrong unless the neck was twisted or something, $300 fora floyd rose les paul and Gibson doesn't even make on but if they did it would be something like a Alex Liefson model for $8,000 these USA makers should be EXTREMELY embarrassed for the garb they put out for all that money, IMHO these USA makers are going to sell to collectors only here real soon, not only can folks not afford them but you don't get much for your money.. $300 and if you don't like it your not out much, collectors can be stuck with all their hi end guitars they paid oodles for but no one wants... lolololololo serves em right
it just seems like a good guitar you can take on the road or practice in your living room, studio, whatever ... one of my best wired guitars is this quick plug setup, no noise at all, very stable.. how can you beat this guitar?
