Understanding what Käärijä was singing about had made me fully appreciate how fitting the song completely changed its tone at 1:44. The stage design and choreography at the Eurovision finals tied in with the narrative so well too.
It was the best performance this year. And when I sat performance I mean the whole thing of concept, singer, song, message, wardrobe, choreography, supporting dancers... the whole thing won hands down.
It was all well thought out. Self-irony, contrast, rhythm, variety, humor and a story or at least very clear segments and development of the song. The performance was apparently very visual too with professional dancers who went along with all the goofiness. All that was lost on the judges because they couldn't get over the reference to alcohol and the rapping. There's a swede behind all that silly choreography by the way. Rappers don't usually sing that well in a traditional sense and I usually can't stand rap either but at least he can do more than just speak and dance badly.
I know some songs like that, where you really have to sit down and analyze (and in some cases first translate) the lyrics, the video, the shifts in tone of voice/music to truly appreciate just how well put-together everything is and how everthing is a part of the story. It really is the next level of storytelling through songmaking. It works so well that you don't even notice it until you stop and take a step back to truly appreciate it. This was an absolutely masterful spectacle, in every aspect. Something similar, that I'm particularly fond of, happens in Till Lindemann's "Ach So Gern", though the song deals with dark subjects and spirals towards negativity rather than positivity, so be warned. Till is simply one of the greatest songwriters, lyricsts, and poets alive today. Käärija probably agrees, considering his Rammstein tattoo and multiple mentions of Rammstein when asked about favorite songs. I don't know to what extent that inspired him, but imo does at least suggest a deeper appreciation for storytelling in songs/performances.
Knowing the meaning behind the lyrics makes this so much better. The beginning really feels like he's up against this military/prison like world with the chanting, and then he starts drinking and he loosens up and the world isn't so scary anymore. He just enjoys himself. Then at the end, when the alcohol wears off, the chanting comes back. The melody and the Finnish words(which I have never heard in song until now) for some reason, at least for me, make me really happy. Like I'm that person the song is talking about. I just like how the words sound like "Tansiman" and "Maailma".
It's more, more, more, more and more and more amazing that Finnish song sung by a Finnish artist and in Finnish language, has gotten very huge popularity in other countries. Kiitos!😂🎉
Jury votes can be bought. Which makes Eurovision political. Sadly public votes don't matter at all in the end. It's an illusion for a quick money grab. This world is corrupted beyond repair..
In my opinion, Finland should win Eurovision because that's how it goes now this is my favorite song from Eurovision and I come from Poland and this music suits me better
Yea as a finnish person this song is fire its really nice that other ppl can know what the song means and jea its pretty good in english too :D Have a great morning/night/day
Finnish language looks so weird when written down, but i just noticed they do pronounce every single letter in every word which is actually really cool :D Love the song btw, and now that i know the lyrics i like it even more :D
This year eurovision is over but this song 🎉 this cha cha cha still jumps around and I cannot throw it out of my head 😂 Real virus! Whatever they say, Kaarija is a real top of this year contest. All this shit about love, suffering and divotion is for my mom or grany. Only party, only cocktails and cha cha cha! Go Finland!
@@hp8783 Yeah, I think the song expresses what it feels like to be alive in this day and age. We seek out alcohol or whatever numbs us in order to mask and apear like different people to everyone around us and only then we can be at peace and try to let go and have fun. At least that's how I understood it after reading the lyrics, thats why to me it's the best song. It should have won. I like it more than Gladiator by Jann too. Although both songs and artists are amazing this one is just so relatable and bitter sweet. It cheers me up knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way.

One of the parts that differentiates these two to the ears of a foreigner/non-speaker is the vowel Ä, pronounced /æ/, which has no counterpart in Japanese, but is used quite extensively in this song, ”Enkä pelkääkkään tätä maailmaa”, etc.
This song has an insane meaning. Stuck in an endless loop with a shit job and drinking everyday to forget the pain. Having too much bs kill you everday with a gun pointed at your head every month. This song really does speak to me. CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA

I’m so glad that Finland stuck with a calm, folk song this year
😅
Most calm Finnish song
Yeah but I'm a bit tired of finnish lullabies... their songs always show they are a very calm people...
Yep, they really went more calm this year!

Музыка похожа на жанр Dark Electro. Она должна звучать мрачно)
правда, может быть, в этой песне и поощряется выпивка, но она мне нравится, потому что она позитивная и звучит хорошо
