    Hey guys I've been checking out all your videos, what a catalog you've built! Some of the best guitar content on the 'tube :).
    Have you guys had the chance to play the wizard vintage classic? I was wondering how it compares to this amp?

    • @zenamplification
      @zenamplification  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for checking it out! Yes many years ago we had a VC. Lower gain (as expected) than the MC - in the plexi realm but with a more modern voicing. Really nice amp, but the old Marshalls won out in the end.

    Fantastic recorded tones. Well done. Thanks for the settings pics too. These amps do a mean Tool tone, they can capture a sound similar to Adams blended Marshall/VH4 tone, the epic thump and bottom end with the crunch and clarity on top. Mine does anyway to my ear. Joel is a monster player too.

    • @zenamplification

    Had a MC2 50 watt exceptional built amps and Rick is a living legend
    still have a Bogner Helios & Metro DVL . I found the wizard lead channel was very glassy no warmth or width in the tone
    really didn’t go well in a full band context unfortunately
    The low Channel was very close to my Hi tone JP 50 watt head and my preferred channel just needed something to push it
    Sounds great here though
    Might need to try a MC2 100 as they have the V transformer and to my ears sound a bit better
    A Wizard Vintage classic absolutely cranked would be great to hear ? 😊

    This was a GREAT idea to demo all these amps. And, thank you for not "shredding" or "djent'ing" all over this with the gain dialed up too much. There's still a HUGE generation of players looking for that killer 80's hot-rodded Marshall tone that was used for creating riffs, rather than solely for shredding. Great vision for this channel, and great playing. 👍 P.S. Leon playing that Balls to the Wall intro (which is one of the best tones on the planet), and Nuno was the PERFECT choice of riffs, out side of the EVH/RATT/Lynch riffs we all know and love..

    couldn't I get similar from a Jubilee with a boost. Now's your chance to very very honest.

    • @zenamplification
      @zenamplification  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The MC may be based on the Jubilee but they do sound different. In person, the Wizard has more of a solid, modern low end thump and extended highs whereas the Marshall has a leaner bottom and smoother top. Not sure this really translates in the recordings but it can certainly be felt in the room. A boosted Jube in a wonderful thing though.

    If you could only have a Soldano or a Wizard which would you pick?. I play mostly late 80s "Hair Metal" and 70s and early 80s Hard Rock. And I don't like Marshalls, they take way to much screwing with, pedals and mods to get any decent tone out of. I have had a Soldano which I absolutely loved never had a chance to play a Wizard.

    • @zenamplification
      @zenamplification  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you love the Soldano tone then going back to that makes sense. It can do those tones in spades and also has great lower gain tones as you would know. The Wizard sound is more aggressive and British, probably not for you if you're not a Marshall guy. A Friedman BE or Bogner XTC is also worth considering - both offer a more polished take on the hot plexi/JCM800 sound.

      Different voicings. The MC is brighter and more aggressive, quite a cutting tone. The BE is a little smoother, more of an idealised modern Marshall sound. Both are fantastic, neither is 'better'. It comes down to personal preference, like all things tone.
