I saw a small worm on my cats behind took a sample of feces to vet and it came back negative for worms. I persisted by showing them a picture of little white seeds I’ve seen on their bedding on a different occasion when my other cat stopped eating and got sick. They said those seeds were tapeworm so I did end up getting my cat treatment for tapeworm. I’m still not understanding why the test came back negative.

Dr. Sarah, please don't be offended, my daughters are probably your age. But I love you, your compassion about cats, wisdom. And that's all I have to say, stay safe and healthy, you're a source of joy..

Why can't they make the praziquantel tablets more palatable? I can't get my cats to eat the pill no matter what, even if I crush it into powder and mix it with wet food or squeeze ups. One lick and they won't even eat their favorite foods because of the drug. Going to a vet to get an injection costs so much more compared to the pill, but I can't get them to eat the pill!

Please keep in mind everyone cant afford vet visits right now for possible worms. Every time you say take your cat to the vet I'm seeing dollar signs I cant afford. We have a couple rescue cats and other options would be helpful.
I wouldn't be watching a you tube video if I could just take my cat to the vet right now. You saying that over and over hurts a little. Vet visits are pretty much only for emergency's right now. We're going to try DE. Diatomaceous earth.

I had this issue earlier this year. Already had 2 sick visits with a $100 exam fee alone each time from Jan-February, couldn't afford another so soon after and saw tapeworm segments on one of my cats (didn't know what it was at first, but it didn't go away after a few days so I looked it up). I looked up possible treatments and saw Elanco tapeworm dewormer (praziquantel tablets) that you didn't need a prescription for, got it $17 for 3 tablets. It's only for common tapeworms and has minimal side effects, so I thought it was a safe bet. It worked great for my cats in just a day, no more segments. My boy is the hunter and got reinfected 2 months later, so I've been trying to give it to him every 1-2 months.
But I've heard good things about DE too, so I might consider giving it a try in the future.

@@Killer_Turnip that sounds like a great option!! I'll look into that one as well. We've got 3 kittens and 2 are lil hunters.theyre gross 😅 They love to play under the house cat tho 😅 after a rat died in my wall I got them. I couldn't sleep in my room for a month. Was so bad. Hasn't happened since I got them. Cats are great for rodents!

@@jul.escobarI do know that for at least some flea types they can take up to a year before they can be said to no longer be abke to hatch from eggs.. so if you happen to have a DEhumidifier ALREADY by coincidence then by far you jave some additional ability if you can afford to do so run that for the fleas are said to be not only loving of tall vegetation but also humidity so reducing that will for indoors at least help ward off some of the risk, along with the use of purportedly table salt for floors sprinkling and leaving it on the floors for about 12 or so hours.. will dehydrate and kill fleas etc and then vacuuming up the floors will simulate foot traffic along carpet fibers for the win because this will therefore.. be likely more to bring up and draw up the larvae/wiggle like things and thus they can be more easily vacummed up and in so doing be trapped either in your vacuum bag (the hepa or paper economical ones if existant for your vacuum cleaner I will say is surely going to be more convienient because you can not need restirong up the cpntents when emptying shake out bags but however you dispose of the soil removed from floors the best practice I say is go outside and if you havevan area feasible you may be able to somewhere dump or shake out the bin or cup/dirst container canister or bag for removal vs spreading into air fungus spores that naturally are on any air that we breathe unless in a literal clean roon ie heart and open surgery rooms or computer dhip factory level of astrounat suit to enter vicinity type scenario.. so not hygiene dependant but humidity again so for several reasons along with preventing as bad of a water flood related issue if you ever have a leak you can be able to prpbably more feasibly or using an air conditioner to lower still somewhat.. humidity but probably between 35 and 45 percent rh vs anything above for mold reduction of risk and for fleas anything below 80? Percent if I recall right for humidity.. to prevent eggs and fleas being catered to ther favoured conditions.. but also again use vacuum cleaners at a frequent habit and most effective if you place a small peice using scissors for cuting a cat or dog flea collar or both for more flea types I guess maybe..are good to place in said vacuums bag or cup to kill any fleas and eggs sucked up by said vacuum to prevent incubation/re crawling back out.. etc
Also as for outside if you have a rental HOUSE or are physically abke and have the ability to whatever means you can., even by hand if small enough of a yard.. or if you otherwise live on your own/in a jouse where you are permitted by your parents, landlords whomever.. ask or decidecto minimize vegetatjon height so not letting tall grass say over 5 or 6 inches of height be allowed to remain,, for this will not only prevent or minimize Garden snakes or ANY or most snakes/scorpions and hopefully I say hopefully as I do not live thankfully to my knowledge,, or I hope.. where things like mud daubbers ie stinging fling wasp/hornets live in ground in hive form vs solo.. thus having nothing but themsekves to protect thus far lower chance of agression.. butvyeah to avoid undesirable sort of wildlife but also fleas loving to take ahold of the area outside your dwelling if you are bale bodied, jave any needed tools if applicable for you and do not either have an apartment with no uard or a required person already in cjarge of landscapes around your area (THIS is key even if for only humans being allowed outside your residence for many types of fleas and ability to if desperate/hungry will adapt ie cat fleas will go make do by human or dog or vice versa,. For food hosts.. and so on) so any ways to minimize your and any guests exp in high vegetation or as sopn as feasible hot water I imagine., will kill fleas if you wash ckothes and shower after being done working outside or just being in the woods or field or any sort of outdoors vegetation.. also checking for cockleburs etc in fur etc both for practicality and for ensuring a more comfortable situation for you and your pet.. unless of course you have a hairless dog or cat.. I do not know if those will be likely to cover in stuff but then again I doubt they will WANT or choose going in because of like us.. vulnerability to mosquitos or thorns of sorts etc for the win I guess?

Made the mistake of playing this video while eating lunch.
Now wondering ... would these parasites be known as Scotch tapeworms in Scotland? If they are able to avoid detection, would they be masking tapeworms?

@@dietschegroosmame3596it absolutely gets rid of worms, doing a round now. Be careful with dosing. And big warning if you applying it topically for fleas and ticks, or putting it on couches and chairs, if they inhale it… it’s bad! I though my cat was sick cause she was coughing and sniffly I thought she was sick… I’m pretty sure she inhaled it either on the couch or off the fur of the other kittens. I removed anything I put it out on and rinsed them all down. Have a vet appointment sat but hopefully it’s not needed.
