  • Patrick Mahomes at just 28 years old is a 3-time Super Bowl Champion and is on pace to potentially become the GOAT of the NFL. This video is a retrospect of how we got to where we got as we answer the question in the title, why is Patrick Mahomes so good? Is it all on him? Is he a result of right place right time? We dive into what may be the reasons why Mahomes is so good and on if ANYONE can stop him in the near future.

Chiefs are gonna 3peat barring major injuries. Look for them to add that Miami motion to the offense. It’s gonna be closer to 2018 but now Mahomes knows how and when to check down to the underneath stuff. Also the defense was historically bad in 18’ not gonna be the case next year

He played with a concussion one year and a high ankle sprain the next. He is crazy motivated to be great. He is very intelligent and isn’t too proud to change his game up to win. Man or zone or blitz his numbers are shockingly good. When he is down in the playoffs, he finds another level of clutch. It is fun to watch even if you’re not a fan of the Chiefs.

Incredible arm talent + insane work ethic + photographic memory + double jointedness + learning from Andy Reid and behind Alex Smith + having a trio of amazing weapons at the beginning of his career + baseball background + seemingly innate ability to read and react to a play as it develops + endless competitive drive = NFL success. I'm sure I forgot something in there, but it boils down to a combination of his own gifts and the basically perfect situation he was drafted to. He's the best we've ever seen in my opinion.

I absolutely love everybody continues to underrate a guy like Andy Reid and how much of a critical factor he is to that team. The Chiefs were a joke before Andy got there, But the only problem was they had a real ceiling with Alex Smith as a quarterback. Once Patrick Mahomes took over, sky was the limit. It's been shown that you can have an all-time great quarterback but if your coaching staff is not fully sound then it will still be a struggle. Steve Spagnola is arguably one of the best defensive minds in the league and he isn't going anywhere and that's massive for that Chiefs defense too.

People get awed by his physical gifts and, rightfully so. But a lot of what puts him over the top is his rare intelligence. It gets overlooked, perhaps because of his froggy voice. I don't know. But his ability to see the entire field and anticipate the proper trajectory of each and every player at once is uncanny. When he tucks the ball and run, 90% of the time he's getting the first down simply because he takes the proper angles. He's like Neo in the Matrix. He doesn't have Lamar Jackson's finese and shiftiness and he doesn't have Josh Allen's ability to lower his shoulders and crash into linebackers, but Mahome's always knows where to go when he takes off. Another crazy thing about him is his constant awareness of where the line of scrimmage is. I don't think I've ever seen him flagged for throwing past the line of scrimmage. He may be standing right on it, but never beyond it, despite scrambling around like a madman for several seconds. The kid is a cyborg.

He is the greatest ever, because, no matter the circumstances, no moment is too big for him. He can't be intimidated, and he works harder than his peers. Allen is cursed with the "hero" complex, meaning he will always take too big of a chance in the most pressure packed conditions. Jackson deflates when the game is on the line, for much the same reason. Little Joe is NOT as athletic as Mahomes, and thinks that because the Chiefs take them too lightly, he can sneak victories when they play them. He has stupidly created enough animosity along with his other nitwit teammates to put a target on the Bengals for the Chiefs. Burrow cannot stand up to the rigors of the NFL season, and will never be a top flight QB, because of it.

Mahomes is the 'Larry Bird' of the NFL. By this I mean Mahomes makes everyone around him play better. Usually. His receivers dropped very catchable passes. But I suspect their coaches had them practice until late into the night so they could catch what was thrown to them. Football is a team game. Mahomes spreads the love around bettercthan anyone. Burrow is obviously a contender, but Allen is too. Allen's gone as close to toe to toe with Mahomes as anyone. He's come out on the wrong side of it, but A. there's no shame in that, and B. so has everyone.
Allen elevates his game in the playoffs in a way we've only seen a couple QBs in history manage. Easy future gold jacket to me, and he'd have a ring or two if he wasn't playing against the best QB ever.

I'm trying to quantify why Patrick is better than everyone else, maybe in history. (whether he wins more Super Bowls or not). Yes, he has prototypical size and a cannon for an arm, yes he has elite vision and elite ability to read defenses. Yes, he has the ability to layer his throws with touch when necessary, combined with elite accuracy. He has elite leadership and a drive to succeed. He always performs off script and plays hero ball better than everyone, but I think he has something that they used to say Larry Bird had, that no one else seems to have in the NFL. Elite Football awareness. The ability, in a nutshell, to do exactly what needs to be done to personally win a game when the game is on the line. It's not just "clutch" it's elite "Clutchnes and Elite Awareness combined exactly when needed". That is why he will go down as the G.O.A.T., if he hasn't already. He has it all. There isn't a way he can't beat you.

The Chiefs didn't just select Mahomes with the 10th pick. They had Alex Smith, a good not great player who could get them to the playoffs every year. The balls it took to trade from 27 to 10 and swing on a risky QB like Mahomes was incredible in and of itself.

MAHOMES is already on pace, baring injury, to break the majority of Brady's records (except rings) by his 17th season starting... He has already started breaking playoff records... Considering that Brady went 10 years from ring 3 to ring 4, Mahomes has a real good chance of catching him in rings also... At his current level in his career Mahomes is the GOAT... No other QB has accomplished anywhere close to as many accolades as Mahomes in the first 7 years of their career (and only 6 starting)... It is going to be exciting to see how it all plays out, but i can see Mahomes passing Brady before he is done as long as he stays healthy... Just My Humble Opinion based on stats and facts...
