If awakenings story was better, Crom could easily be one of the best dads in FE. He has so many nice moments with Lucina and fights to make a better future for her to grow up in. "You deserved better from me than one sword and a world of troubles." Is such a PERFECT line that I think a lot of parents can really relate to, worrying about the kind of world their kids will grow up in and striving to make it better. LOVE the dad content, we need more people talking about fatherhood in general.

Jeralt's the number 1 dad at least in my eyes. He's the only one Byleth's ever cried for, left the monastery to take care of them and seems like he's very active in byleths life and is the only one who can read them.
Morion just reminds me of how If Engage wanted too, it could've done some really nice stuff instead of playing it as safe and boring as possible. Nice list.

I see a lot of people commenting that there’s no Jeralt on this list, but I do think people are really ignoring the things Jeralt did. For starters, he knew who Byleths mom was, but never told them. He knew that Byleth was pursued by Rhea and brought him back to her. He raised his child in the mercenary lifestyle, which, let’s be honest, isn’t the safest, and lied about basically EVERYTHING in his life, to the point that Byleth knew absolutely nothing about who he was or his condition. He also knew absolutely nothing about the world he lived in. Not the religion, not the countries, not the people. Basically a completely sheltered child in terms of the church or politics, and that’s obviously not healthy for an individual, especially in the world of Fodlan. Not really sure this qualifies as a great dad guys, just sayin.
Idk man, seems like you're ignoring the goods things he did do and just choosing to focus on only the bad things. And I sincerely doubt the picks you did choose are squeaky clean with their past.

I mean, if Pent and Sigurd are considered that bad, then I would think Dice would be a solid candidate for knocking one of them off the list as his gambling addiction constantly leading to he and his daughter being perpetually broke seems tame in comparison. Also, I'm guessing Greil didn't even get on due to the whole "I accidentally killed my wife" thing? Would be interesting to see the "bottom 10" next. I wonder how many Archanean dads will flood that list, since nearly every King in that saga is portrayed as either a douche or a weak pushover. Though they'd probably have difficulty topping Nergal, Garon or Sombron.
@@kabbusses this list is very very subjective and there are a lot of cool dads I wish I could have explored more, but in a top 10 format it’s rough. Greil makes a lot of mistakes IMO and so do Jeralt as an example. They both inadvertently cause more harm then good by hiding the truth of their child’s identity (or their own) and both raise their son in mercenary ways, which in it of itself is a dangerous profession. I did consider dice for this list, but he’s unfortunately not as impactful during the main arcs, which makes it difficult to place him. He’s also constantly creating problems for malice with his gambling addiction. But again, it is subjective ahahhah

Im talking FE1 all the way to FE 12. 4- Broom best dad ever, and he just let her be an adult. You will learn that in the future. Also 5- Garcia another really good dad and should be #1. Good video.
Morion is a bad person in general, remember he was the invader not Elusia. Was there even a reason for him destroying unarmed villages. His death could have been easily avoided.
I think Hector should be higher on the list; he clearly fought hard to make a sacrifice. And the best thing a father can do is to literally put your life on the line to defend your kids. He also literally fought against an entire army of Bern soldiers that ambushed him and his men, including Dragons and the combined might of two generals. And they were just barely able to put him down. Even when he was chained up, King Zephiel allegedly has to use his Divine Weapon on him to bring him down. All of this info comes from production notes, but of course there was rush and limited hardware on the GBA. But I'm sure a remake would elaborate all this. Bartre the farter being number 1 makes sense, though another honorable mention is someone who doesn't appear. It is Hassar; the father of Lyn. Despite the poison in his body, he used up all his strength to carry Lyn, place her on his horse, and have the horse ride her to safety. But the real number one for me is Jeralt. The only one who could push Byleth to shed tears for.
