    This is my favorite performance of this piece by far. The musette is just unbelievably good, as well as the Menuet and the Gigue.

    She is pure genius. The music comes alive in her hands: utterly surreal, marvellously idiosyncratic.

    Fabulous piece. Fabulous performance. Its young fearless virtuosi like Yuja and Hillary Hahn who will reach audiences playing Schoenberg. Brava!

    Even with Schönberg she makes profound music. Her natural musicality and her insightful intelligence makes the impossible possible.

      She projects the inner line superbly at 10:30.Where were you thinking ?

    • @muslit
      @muslit 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MorganHayes_Composer.Pianist At 10:30 the line is delineated with accents above the notes by Schoenberg, so the Wang just does it. Perhaps I wasn't that clear in my post: I meant the expressiveness of the lines, in addition to the character of the movements. This was one of Schoenberg's first forays into neo classicism. I would never have known by this performance. I feel Wang has little understanding of this work. Just the opening of the first movement is incoherent and rhythmically suspect. There is no sense of arrival at the repeated b-flats. Everything in her playing is just musically blah. To hear what's missing in this performance, either Gould or Pollini will do. Because a friend of mine plays in the S.F. Symphony, he told me to watch a video of the Wang playing the second concerto of Chopin. I was sorry I did. The same lack of expressiveness there is what's lacking here. Oh, she goes through the motions, all right.

      @@cnviolinist9009 I think it is likely a statement about herself. A smartwatch represents wealth & youth. Perhaps she wants to attract younger audiences. And her necklace is wow! I don't have ears for classical music
      And a lot of us don't but watching her accessories, dress, and body movement is entertaining like you go to a rock concert.

    This type of material is very hard to learn, and even more difficult to make sound like music. In my opinion, it's organized noise. I think she is reading from a tablet, but we never see it.

    Only those that don't play piano or any instrument in general, and never attempted to write work that changes the face of, and the course of, music and music theory and history, can criticize the genius of Schoenberg.

    • @sebribo1873
      @sebribo1873 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      technique doesnt mean anything if you are not able to understand the music. A good example are Chopin mazurki. Technically these pieces are "simple", but articulation by many pianists is ridiculously bad cause they have no clue about these dances AND often are missing musicality.
