This game would have genuinely been capable of a 2 year lifecycle. The amount of fresh content weekly's been keeping me on it even until today, I'm usually nowhere near CoD the last month of it's life.
this was the second year of its life cycle , all shg had to do was just add a second year of content to mw2 , and to be honest i think it went really well. maybe they will see that and give support studios a year to supplement the previous cod and thus give the main line developers an extra year to make the main games even better. though im sure this was given to them as a cruch seeing as 3arc had to take over cold war because they couldn't do it and vanguard was ass , its pretty likely activison making them use the mw2 as a base was an alley oop to save face

It's poetic that SHG first came onto the scene by helping with OG MW3, and that was a really fun game. Now, we're at the end of MW2023 and it was honestly like I was reliving the days of MW3. I fully trust SHG to make great CoD games!

@darkgamingbro MWII pretty much reskinned MW19, but worse. Also, pretty much all the guns we got we unique. Don't forget, MWII gave us two ISO smgs, two MP5s, and two M13s.

After MW I and MW II which I really did not enjoy, I was ready to just skip MW III and hate this game to it's bones. And well here I am today. All seasons completed, almost max lvl reached, both camo challenges completed and I even decided to do the Orion grind. It's a miracle how Sledgehammer games managed to make this title actually really good with tons of content even tho this was a title they were forced to do. Just a big respect for them 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just wish Zombies is available in Local Play and instead of 5 Shipments, we have some MW2019’s OG MW map remastered port in MWIII instead of Warzone Mobile. Like Crash, and Broadcast!
The campaign was hot garbage, lets not sugar coat it MWZ was fun for what it was, it could have been a lot better but overall Id say it was good. It kept me engaged when bored of the other modes Multiplayer really surprised me. I dont think Ive ever experienced this much post launch support and the gameplay is arcade like just as we remember from cods back in the day. SH cooked all year round. They redeemed themselves. For me this is an A tier cod. If the campaign was anything worthwhile it might even have been in contention to be an S tier cod.
Just because the post launch support was good doesn’t mean the actual game was good, it was trash people accept mediocre cod games now, you can’t polish a turd that’s what I’ll say about this game.
One of the big reasons ive heard as to why modes like war, ground war, and gunfight got essentially no support, was that they had huge layoffs shortly after release and they just didnt have the staff to support the modes
Looking back on the circumstances MWIII has been developed and treated since post-release it will go in history as one of the better treated Call of Duties, especially since releasing unfinished games had become a trend. We can be hard in judgement (especially when publisher sell it as a full-prize title) but also give credit for a developer who tries to deliver a decent games.

Everybody will disagree in the comments but besides the campaign, Sledgehammer really killed it in terms of amount of content, good post launch maps, so many camos/challenges that I couldn’t keep up with it and overall just a fun multiplayer game! Sledgehammer deserves respect for how they did this year despite what Activision puts them through!

I've never laughed and kicked ass more on MWIII then any COD prior. The only reason why it's second place is because Ground War was the shit in MW '19 and MWIII's GW is a sham of a mode.
I personally hate this game. It was a bunch of one shot op weapons. Insane sbmm. And besides classic mw2 maps the others were ok. SnD is literally either super laggy or you die to jack conversion kits. Streaking in this game is really hard and movement is ok.
I 100% agree. So many free skins and camos. And not only free but awesome looking and creative like you said. I loved the weekly challenges to try out the conversion kits. There was always something to do and something to unlock. As a warzone player, i still wanted to play multiplayer not only for leveling up guns but also to try new guns and complete challenges and events.

I agree, it's been hands down,the best cod in my opinion,since BO1,way more content and the weekly conversion kits kept me coming back,ive normally given up on cod by this time of year,very impressed with what Sledgehammer has done ❤
Best post launch content ever. The campaign was terrible but I never expected the multiplayer to have so much put into it. We have so many new camos over time and Jak market parts I barely remember all the ones I like

Gotta say the support of the game was great , really the best we had . Sledgehammer actually listened to the community . Something Infinity Turd doesnt do since 2019 . Wont buy an infinity ward cod again in the next few years only Treyarch and Sledgehammer
I love it. With the MW2 09 maps and played every weekly event. I will pick and choose when I play BO6 because there are other games I want to finally get to.
MW3 is one of my top favourite COD games ever. Why? Good time to kill, so many guns, mostly good maps, good movement speed and no network issues, SBMM isn’t overpowered. Love the game
I been saying this, almost every other week there was a new event or challenge with blueprint and como rewards etc the gunplay was smooth and enuff maps in general Had a good time with resurgence, zombies and multiplayer tbh Mw3 best modern cod since mw2019
yes.and maybe the first positive effect of the MS buyout.funny enough, my top 4 cods were... ww2, vanguard, mw3... and yes, mw2019. so, good sledgehammer quota there :D would have liked a classic small map old style zombies mode though
MW3 seems to have suffered the most from "It's cool to hate on MW3" dogpiling. Which partially started with the campaign early access and never went away. The one thing that made me upset was MWZ being basically void of content. Making me miss DMZ.
The overall experience of the game, campaign is often smaller scale. People love bo3, but not so much the campaign there, people enjoyed that multiplayer and zombies. MW3 campaign was not particularly good, but I loved the overall game more than I expected. I do wish MWZ got more attention, but it was still a ton of fun. Multiplayer I was hesitant, but it was great for the most part and even if there wasn't as much love towards big team modes, the rest of multiplayer was so fun. They did nice with challenges, cosmetics, events, always something new to be doing but never felt like you had to rush to finish.
i see MWIII as MWZ and the Campaign solely coz i didn't play much of MP and Warzone so i can't say that is a good game, but i do appreciate the post-launch content with the camos, events, and the aftermarket parts i just wish they bring the vortex maps variants from MP to zombies, even the recently Rebirth map Purgatory to MWZ but one can only hope
This should be used as a template for how post launch support should be done and I'm sad a lotta people waved it off because it turned out to be more then just a DLC and put infinity ward to shame
I completely forgot about the experimental playlists. I only remember seeing one or two and don't recall any of the things tested in them coming to the actual game, like the player outlines for example.
Im sorry its not a good game, its the only fps game worth playing. Their guns remained unbalanced, their map designs were unbalanced and chaotic. Spawns were never fixed. The skins werent at all better than the last two. I will say they made rank playable, but with core gameplay, it has become similar to WZ without plates
All this so-called great post-launch support went almost completely unseen and unplayed by me because the GODDAMN MATCHMAKING burned my ass out by the early part of Season 3. I couldn't even be bothered to unlock the weapons in the last two seaons...The only COD I played in months has been the BO6 beta....
Sledgehammer sure as shit deserves respect for the post-launch support but I really don’t think I’m gonna grandstand MWIII as greater than it actually is.

I do believe that SHG is capable of delivering their own new game and honestly I’d love for them to completely replace IW. If not, then at least I can save my money whenever IWs game comes out
If were talking about moment to moment gameplay and how weapons felt to shoot, then yes absolutely. Its a shame ground war and invasion are not getting an alternative in Blops 6, it was one only modes i would actually play.
Sledge is one of the best studios. Both vanguard and mw3 were both made in under 8 months and the games still turned out good. Bo6 had 4 years and its a less than mid cartoony cold war clone.
Comp maps were terrible but they saved things with Rio 6 Star and Vista. Ranked became a chore to play when high rank players got sick of cheaters going unpunished and decided to either smurf or derank their way down to my lobbies. Straight up SR losing simulator in the last few seasons lol no chance of winning. Other than that tho Sledge gave us a great year. I wish these universal animated camos they’ve been unloading on us recently would be applicable to BO6 weapons

Not looking back on all this hate and negativity they kept delivering amazing content and supporting the game till the last day had a blast with this game and I’m looking forward for sledgehammer to delivering us another game !!! Saw someone say that MW3 was more of an experimental throw shit at the wall cod game instead of a traditional mw experience and i agree 100%. Had they instead marketed the game as a one off best of cod game I think it would have been received much more positively pre-launch.
Mw3 was bad at launch so I waited to buy it on sale when they fixed the bad , really enjoy the gun fights & maps from my younger years from the original mw2/3….still probably play it once Blops6 releases as I’d like to play more than one time period 😊
The campaign really soured my perception of this game. The fact that Activision decided to make MWIII a sequel instead of a supplementary DLC is not a good look for them, especially after they touted "no more yearly releases". I don't blame Sledgehammer for this, but I do blame Activision and Infinity Ward. SHG did the best they could. I would have loved to pick this one up, but Activision really turned me off from this entry.

I wish I got this game. At launch it just looked like a DLC for MW2 so I didn’t touch it at all. I only started looking into this game after the black ops 6 beta and it looks like I missed out on a great multiplayer experience
as a long time zombies fan, it was very fun and refreshing, not perfect, specifically it really needed the type of post launch support MP got, but it was a fun and refreshing take, and no, lets not just "bring back BO3 style" because people would get bored fast, especially with custom zombies being a thing people have been playing BO3 for years if you really want bo3 style zombies, go play bo3 customs, and a bo3 capable PC is only about a $100 if you are smart with what you buy from ebay, otherwise a $300 steam deck will run BO3 flawlessly
I think the main solid part of this game was multiplayer, could've been zombies as well but its post-launch support was gutted after season . I think the mode should be experimental though you could argue MWZ wasn't very experimental as it literally was the previous year's DMZ mode with zombies and related objectives.
Sledge def came back from Mw2 tho the camp wasn’t the greatest mp was fun zombies was fun outside of the crashes def a tier for me looking forward to blops6 and a new grind for sure
Sledgehammer is easily the best dev team, imagine if they got to make what they truly wanted with enough time, I will say I’m still very disappointed in the campaign if mw3 and it left a bad taste in my mouth the entire year. I loved the campaigns of the reboot it was a shame to see it die like it did
I would love to see a Sledgehammer CoD with a full 3-year dev cycle and no bullshit behind the scenes. The closest we've had is AW, but even that had the caveat of SHG being the guinea pigs in the advanced movement experiment. They had to build and debut the system, and Treyarch got to improve and perfect it with BO3.
I shat on this game mainly because of the campaign and zombies modes and I played a match of mp and never touched it afterward. I regret not giving mp a proper chance because the post launch content was really cool and I just did not capitalize on it. I enjoyed WW2 mp and campaign and I think that Sledgehammer gets shit on the most and I dont think its justified fully.
I'll give Sledgehammer credit for the Post Launch Support, but the game itself was beyond miserable. I often found myself playing as a chore through FOMO more than anything else.
Campaign was absolute booty cheeks and I didn't like MWZ very much. But as far as multiplayer is concerned they did an absolutely fantastic job. So much support and creativity. It was a good 6v6 year
The only change Sledgehammer made to the engine and did it wrong is they sped up the movement too much. There was a player in a gas station and he sprinted very fast toward me and slid past me and killed me and the slide speed is ridiculous. It doesn't seem to be as fast in Invasion mode. It's very difficult for snipers and it's deterring MANY players from using LMGs because of how fast the movement is, WHAT DO YOU CALL THAT. PLAYERS WITH SMGS AND OTHER LIGHT WEAPONS RUN AND JUMP AROUND LIKE NINJAS! I don't ever remember Black Ops 4 being this fast. We have to rely on Treyarch to adjust the movement when Black Ops 6 integrates with Warzone, I can almost 100 percent guarantee they will, THEY HAVE TO. Players like me just can't adapt to how fast it is. I really did like the game but even with SO MANY complaints about how fast it is, we couldn't believe they never slowed it down. The conversation kits are a revolutionary feature and PRETTY IMPRESSIVE camos. A lot of us didn't expect another Modern Warfare game to come out a second year in a row. The current weapon prestige camos will likely return for MW4 weapons
When the campaign was a legit scam, pushed out by execs a year or two too early, with predatory price gouging bizarre crossovers, a blanket ‘it was good’ lets them entirely off the hook.
I think if we took Treyarch and Sledgehammer and let them absolutely COOK! And just fire IWs management and only keep the devs! We could really get a Call of Duty that could be truly live service and one that could last 5+ year life cycle If not longer!

Seasons 1-3 were amazing. Season 4 was decent. 5 was the driest. Season 6 has been really good so far

i see MWIII as MWZ and the Campaign solely coz i didn't play much of MP and Warzone so i can't say that is a good game, but i do appreciate the post-launch content with the camos, events, and the aftermarket parts
i just wish they bring the vortex maps variants from MP to zombies, even the recently Rebirth map Purgatory to MWZ but one can only hope
This should be used as a template for how post launch support should be done and I'm sad a lotta people waved it off because it turned out to be more then just a DLC and put infinity ward to shame

I completely forgot about the experimental playlists. I only remember seeing one or two and don't recall any of the things tested in them coming to the actual game, like the player outlines for example.

Honestly the multiplayer was so much fun for me grinding the xp camos some gun weapons. Going to miss this game.

Im sorry its not a good game, its the only fps game worth playing. Their guns remained unbalanced, their map designs were unbalanced and chaotic. Spawns were never fixed. The skins werent at all better than the last two. I will say they made rank playable, but with core gameplay, it has become similar to WZ without plates
All this so-called great post-launch support went almost completely unseen and unplayed by me because the GODDAMN MATCHMAKING burned my ass out by the early part of Season 3. I couldn't even be bothered to unlock the weapons in the last two seaons...The only COD I played in months has been the BO6 beta....
Sad to hear that. Unfortunately that was the issue for many. Personally that S4 was bugged out for me but it got resolved
Sledgehammer sure as shit deserves respect for the post-launch support but I really don’t think I’m gonna grandstand MWIII as greater than it actually is.
Ngl I didn’t really like this game, BUT this did make me eager to see SHGs next project. Personally I feel a lot that I didn’t like about this game was that it’s basically a patched version of MWII. I do believe that SHG is capable of delivering their own new game and honestly I’d love for them to completely replace IW. If not, then at least I can save my money whenever IWs game comes out
If were talking about moment to moment gameplay and how weapons felt to shoot, then yes absolutely. Its a shame ground war and invasion are not getting an alternative in Blops 6, it was one only modes i would actually play.

Sledge is one of the best studios. Both vanguard and mw3 were both made in under 8 months and the games still turned out good. Bo6 had 4 years and its a less than mid cartoony cold war clone.
Comp maps were terrible but they saved things with Rio 6 Star and Vista. Ranked became a chore to play when high rank players got sick of cheaters going unpunished and decided to either smurf or derank their way down to my lobbies. Straight up SR losing simulator in the last few seasons lol no chance of winning. Other than that tho Sledge gave us a great year. I wish these universal animated camos they’ve been unloading on us recently would be applicable to BO6 weapons
They treated us Zombies players like dirt. MW3 one of the worst cods.
Sledgehammer, really did an amazing job amazing studio with amazing developers wish them all the best and they really did deliver AN AMAZING GAME ! Not looking back on all this hate and negativity they kept delivering amazing content and supporting the game till the last day had a blast with this game and I’m looking forward for sledgehammer to delivering us another game !!!

Absolutely true 😊 , we had so much event's content and camos , but the event were awful, i do appreciate the every week content tho , it feels good to play for something other than just Battelpass
Saw someone say that MW3 was more of an experimental throw shit at the wall cod game instead of a traditional mw experience and i agree 100%. Had they instead marketed the game as a one off best of cod game I think it would have been received much more positively pre-launch.

Best CoD of the Warzone era for sure. In terms of all-time rankings, it's like #5 or #6 for me. Really good, but not quite top tier.
Mw3 was bad at launch so I waited to buy it on sale when they fixed the bad , really enjoy the gun fights & maps from my younger years from the original mw2/3….still probably play it once Blops6 releases as I’d like to play more than one time period 😊
The campaign really soured my perception of this game. The fact that Activision decided to make MWIII a sequel instead of a supplementary DLC is not a good look for them, especially after they touted "no more yearly releases". I don't blame Sledgehammer for this, but I do blame Activision and Infinity Ward. SHG did the best they could. I would have loved to pick this one up, but Activision really turned me off from this entry.

I wish I got this game. At launch it just looked like a DLC for MW2 so I didn’t touch it at all. I only started looking into this game after the black ops 6 beta and it looks like I missed out on a great multiplayer experience

Mw zombies was NOT fun bring back bo3 zombies style
as a long time zombies fan, it was very fun and refreshing, not perfect, specifically it really needed the type of post launch support MP got, but it was a fun and refreshing take, and no, lets not just "bring back BO3 style" because people would get bored fast, especially with custom zombies being a thing people have been playing BO3 for years
if you really want bo3 style zombies, go play bo3 customs, and a bo3 capable PC is only about a $100 if you are smart with what you buy from ebay, otherwise a $300 steam deck will run BO3 flawlessly
I think the main solid part of this game was multiplayer, could've been zombies as well but its post-launch support was gutted after season . I think the mode should be experimental though you could argue MWZ wasn't very experimental as it literally was the previous year's DMZ mode with zombies and related objectives.
Sledge def came back from Mw2 tho the camp wasn’t the greatest mp was fun zombies was fun outside of the crashes def a tier for me looking forward to blops6 and a new grind for sure

Sledgehammer is easily the best dev team, imagine if they got to make what they truly wanted with enough time, I will say I’m still very disappointed in the campaign if mw3 and it left a bad taste in my mouth the entire year. I loved the campaigns of the reboot it was a shame to see it die like it did

I would love to see a Sledgehammer CoD with a full 3-year dev cycle and no bullshit behind the scenes. The closest we've had is AW, but even that had the caveat of SHG being the guinea pigs in the advanced movement experiment. They had to build and debut the system, and Treyarch got to improve and perfect it with BO3.

I shat on this game mainly because of the campaign and zombies modes and I played a match of mp and never touched it afterward. I regret not giving mp a proper chance because the post launch content was really cool and I just did not capitalize on it. I enjoyed WW2 mp and campaign and I think that Sledgehammer gets shit on the most and I dont think its justified fully.
I'll give Sledgehammer credit for the Post Launch Support, but the game itself was beyond miserable. I often found myself playing as a chore through FOMO more than anything else.
The greatest MP of any CoD, damn shame to see how everything else about the game turned out tho

Campaign was absolute booty cheeks and I didn't like MWZ very much. But as far as multiplayer is concerned they did an absolutely fantastic job. So much support and creativity. It was a good 6v6 year
The only change Sledgehammer made to the engine and did it wrong is they sped up the movement too much. There was a player in a gas station and he sprinted very fast toward me and slid past me and killed me and the slide speed is ridiculous. It doesn't seem to be as fast in Invasion mode. It's very difficult for snipers and it's deterring MANY players from using LMGs because of how fast the movement is, WHAT DO YOU CALL THAT. PLAYERS WITH SMGS AND OTHER LIGHT WEAPONS RUN AND JUMP AROUND LIKE NINJAS! I don't ever remember Black Ops 4 being this fast. We have to rely on Treyarch to adjust the movement when Black Ops 6 integrates with Warzone, I can almost 100 percent guarantee they will, THEY HAVE TO. Players like me just can't adapt to how fast it is. I really did like the game but even with SO MANY complaints about how fast it is, we couldn't believe they never slowed it down. The conversation kits are a revolutionary feature and PRETTY IMPRESSIVE camos. A lot of us didn't expect another Modern Warfare game to come out a second year in a row. The current weapon prestige camos will likely return for MW4 weapons
The only subpar thing about this game was Campaign. And i dont even think thats sledgehammers fault
When the campaign was a legit scam, pushed out by execs a year or two too early, with predatory price gouging bizarre crossovers, a blanket ‘it was good’ lets them entirely off the hook.
I think if we took Treyarch and Sledgehammer and let them absolutely COOK! And just fire IWs management and only keep the devs! We could really get a Call of Duty that could be truly live service and one that could last 5+ year life cycle If not longer!
