Hi L.A Prepper, Enjoy the videos of your DR-200, they are a great bike! If you want more power out of your bike I would recommend you purchase a Mikuni TM-28 flat side carb, as you can buy them on E-Bay quite cheap. They are more responsive and give the bike more power, as I have a 1987 DR-200 motor fitted to a 2010 DR-200 chassis. The 87 motor had the TM-28 carb, as well as a kick starter, which is way better than just relying on the starter motor which the starter shaft cogs wear down causing slippage. Also I can run my bike without a battery if I have to, as the 12V generator/stator runs the front headlight bright. If your battery dies on you on your bike, you are a bit screwed as you have no back up kickstart, not good for a SHTF scenario. There may be a dummy shaft and sealed hole for a kick starter gear and shaft to fit into from an 86, 87, 88 DR-200 motor, this I would highly recommend, you wont regret it! Here in New-Zealand we have the Suzuki DR-200 Trojan which is the farm version of the DR-200s you have in the U.S, and comes standard with a back up kick starter, and are very cheap and easily available here. Also I have removed my airbox assembly and fitted a pod filter straight onto the carb. I also installed a slightly bigger main jet to the carb, and an after market muffler. My bike has good acceleration and torque now, and is a way better bike than the later model Dr-200s with the BST-31ss carb. The way things are going with this whole Russia situation you may have to rely on this great little bike more than you think. You are very brave to live in a big city like L.A, and would not like to be there if all hell broke loose, as I had a cousin who lived there years ago, just very lucky my wife and I live here in New-Zealand. Stay safe my friend, and good luck!
Thanks for the comment! My dad grew up in Auckland 😊 I can push start the bike but I’ll look into the carb for sure! I just replaced my rectifier regulator so I don’t think the old battery ever got charged. I just ran it dead over and over again. And can you imagine I actually went to work once on this bike?!! The one that stranded me a mile from my house last weekend 😂😂😂
@@laprepper small world L.APrepper! I am in the South Island, so you are half Kiwi LOL! Have you been to the South Island of N.Z? I actually have spare rectifier for your bike, I could have sent to you, as I don’t need it. Hope you have exercised the gremlins out of your bike now. Stay safe over there in crazy town LOL!! Evan.
