I have been looking at the GT-R series for some years know. I'll be turning 60 end of May and I think for my birthday present it will be time to get it and let my business taper off and put my time into a build. I love these cars!
I am working on one of these. It has a lot more fab work than I expected, but, I am determined to enjoy the journey. I am using an LS and a Porsche transaxle.
@alexcassinelli6651 it was the configuration used for the Ford v Ferrari movie. RCR provided the interface bulkhead and had experience with the stunt men driving them. The transaxles got the snot out put of them and didn't break.
Nice work! I'm building several projects right now, and am awaiting delivery of my Hurricane Motorsports Cobra. A GT40 is certainly a bucket list build for me.
keep going when all seems to be tough and all seems to be never-ending - you will make it and the final product will be essentially inimitable - it will all be worth it - seems to be progressing at a measured pace
Avoid overheating. If not done so, water temp sensor needs to be nearest the engine due heat loss from the distance from/to engine. Nice project. What a beast. Epic.
Idk who would be the best. I chose RCR mainly for the chassis and suspension components. They designed their suspension to memic the original with some modern touches. It’s all machined from billets. Very nice stuff.
Great job bro really impressive 👌 Did you ever Heard about a french guy names Benjamin (Benjamin Workshop chanel) who made an Amazing Ford GT40 ? I follow his job since few years and you remind me him a little bit 😉
That sound just right! My daily driver is electric. I do drive alot. After two years I have more that 80 000 kilometers on the clock. That darn thing runs smoothly and accelerates like stink and is the most efficient car I ever had. My hobby car won't be like that. It must be a real beast and a blast, just like this one. I´m currently in the process of checking out how our government feels about me buiding a car like a kit GT40. Sure it won't be easy but I'm going to try anyway!
@@FordGT-40_MKI Thanks for replying! I can see there is a LOT of advantages there ;) I checked the different tiers and after a LONG convo with a relative, it makes a lot of sense. It seems either way, you will wind up paying close to the same parting out the rest of the components! Looking so good, great work 👍💪🔨
It’s not extremely difficult, but it does require quite a bit of fabrication. Probably the most difficult part is being sure to plan everything out as space is a premium.
Hi Sean! Great build! Do you have any insight for ease of following instructions, and is this your first kit build? Love the engine and just wondering how much $ you are into the total build?
RCRs instructions are pretty good. I used them as a basis for most of the car. This is my second kit car build. My first was a Lil Big Rig. I’m not sure on actual cost. But it’s somewhere around $80k so far
Hey Sean! Great build! Couple of quick questions. Who built your engine? Can you give a little more info and pictures on the front clip hinge? Thank you and look forward to other videos!
@@comfort_in_discomfort can you put a 302 5.0 engine from a let's say a Ford Explorer, Foxbody, F-150 you know the old school with a carb. & it'll fit no problem? Because I already have a 5.0 Foxbody engine.
Hello Sean, I don't know if you already know it but a french guy on youtube have made his own GT40 if you want to know how he did it he is "Benjamin Workshop". It's not an ad but knowledge that can helps you ! Don't give up ;)

Nice! I grew up in the 60’s these cars were spaceships to me… good luck! 😊
Thanks 👍

Yes sir. I’ve been watching your post. You’re making good progress for sure.
How did you decide on the Porsche transaxle?
@alexcassinelli6651 it was the configuration used for the Ford v Ferrari movie. RCR provided the interface bulkhead and had experience with the stunt men driving them. The transaxles got the snot out put of them and didn't break.
Thank you!
@alexcassinelli6651 oh yes. And the rebuilt Porshes are less than 3k
Such a beast of a car, best of luck can’t wait to see how it turns out, cheers from Canada
Thanks.

Awesome. I hope to build one of these some day. Keep us updated on the progress!
Thanks! Will do!
That sound never gets old!
Thanks
wow, beautiful job. It sounds amazing. The throttle response is incredible. 🤘👍👍
Thanks
Nice work. The engine sounds amazing. You got it tuned perfectly its SO SNAPPY!
Thanks
Sounds fantastic. Headers and exhaust look amazing.
Thanks
Wow! nice car! I always loved this generation GT40....that coolant has a ways to travel from the radiator to the motor.
Thanks
Omg... so BEAUTIFUL, this is my dream 😍. More videos PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Thanks
Man, I wish I could have the time and resources to do something like this in the near future. Pretty cool stuff.
🤘🏼
Beautiful project... getting very close the finish line.
Thanks
Looking great! I plan to buy a 40 from Fran as well. Hopefully I can pick your brain a little for my build....
Definitely. If you haven’t already, check out GT40s.com. A lot of great build info there

Very nice attention to detail on interior plumbing and sheet metal. Sounds plenty bad ass. Hope to see you out and about soon. 👍
Thanks
Looks like it's a great build
Thanks
New subscriber project looks awesome I’ve always wanted to do a kit
Thanks for the sub!
Looking good!
Thanks!
What are the best manufactures of GT-40 kits in America? I know that RCR is one of them but don't know if they are the best.
Idk who would be the best. I chose RCR mainly for the chassis and suspension components. They designed their suspension to memic the original with some modern touches. It’s all machined from billets. Very nice stuff.
@@FordGT-40_MKI Thank you. That helps! That might be the direction I go with.
No problem

Great job.👍👍👍 대한민국에서 당신을 응원 합니다.😄

SUBBED! Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Thanks
Those headers are fantastic! What a beast! I am curious, Why the MK1 rear section, why not a MK2 body to go with that 427?
Thanks. I like the curves of the MKI rear clamshell better than the MKII. I’m going for the 1969 Gulf Livery paint scheme.
Are you going to bring out more content 👍 back to back until you're finished? Because I like the car 🚗.
That's the plan!
I want to build one what kit is this nice build
Thanks. It’s a Race Car Replicas kit.
very perfect!!!
Thanks
This appears to be a Top Oiller not the Side Oiler
I love the throttle response. It is AWESOME.
Thanks. Yes it’s a Windsor block

Thanks. Yes I have seen his videos. Good information for sure.
Is there a cad drawing or pdf of the dimensions for the engine bay, with the ideal transaxle centerline?
I don’t have any cad drawings. You can try searching GT40s.com. A lot of info on there.
So bad ass! What brand wheels are those?
Thanks! They are replica BRMs From vintage wheels

The motor sounds awesome! What transaxle are you using?
It’s a Porsche G50/52 with lsd out of a 91 911 turbo.
That looks really good man 👍 Did you get the basic package that RCR offers?
Thanks. I got the Deluxe plus package.

I built the engine myself. Had the machine work done by Gerald Brand racing engines in OKC.
Sure. I’ll get you some details of the hinge set up
Insanely nice bundle of snakes.
Thanks. It was my first attempt at building headers
Is that the full package? Might pull the plug in one of those in a few years the superformance gt40 is too expensive in my knowledge so rcr is the way
Yeah. I got the deluxe plus kit they offer. It’s a rolling chassis minus the tires. RCR has a great product. No issues from me.
@@FordGT-40_MKI thx

How much is this build kit?
Current delux plus kits are ~48k
Does the deluxe include the engine, transmission, & headers?
