- It might be possible to beat Minecraft without items on certain seeds, but that’s not the intended way to play. So what's the minimum number of items I need to beat the game on an entirely RANDOM seed? What wacky strategies will be necessary to achieve this?

Fun fact: it is impossible to stumble upon across a filled end portal on a random seed. All the seed numbers with filled end portals are outside the range of the seed’s random number generator.
And even if you could it wouldn't work, since the game is not intended to have all 12 eyes filled in. You'd have to get even luckier with wacky chunk generation
@@fish5541 that’s only a bedrock thing, in Java the portal will fill from 12 eyes when you go on a set seed.

Actually all of the seeds with full portals are outside of the random seed generation range

This reminds me of my woodless run. While I didn't use any external programs to check if my seeds were valid, I didn't have to worry about a single block of dirt ending my run. GG on completing the run!

@@CasuallyShadow my challenge banned all wood types (and anything that used wood in its crafting recipe) so Acacia wood was included in the ban.

@@Drengodr Ofc! There a plenty of people on this platform who disagree with you, sadly. How many people are actually playing for 100 or 1000 days? How many hardcore playthroughs have deaths that were edited out? It's impossible to tell :/
@@crusatyr1452 Yeah, unfortunately there will always be folks who fake their achievements for clout, but that's bound to catch up with them eventually. I'm more focused on creating an entertaining video than anything else :)

Without gamemode switching or a setseed, this is actually impossible. You can't place the eyes of ender in the frame in adventure mode

If you were to attempt this challenge again, I would highly reccomend turning on hitboxes, that way items are very obvious

Personally, I would be totally fine if you backed up your worlds every 10 minutes so that you could resume from a few minutes ago if you accidentally pick up an item. You could even edit the video so that no one would have the slightest clue that you did so (but I'd recommend showing some of your failures, because it makes it more exciting when you succeed).
I would definitely like to see a video in which you do this locked to easy mode. You could die to replenish your hunger. But please don't attempt this challenge unless you use world backups like I suggested. This was crazy enough with peaceful mode!

Technically, if the challenge is "the minimal number of items required to beat the game" then you would be able to throw out any items you accidently collect and still have it count (if not for those darn statistics...)
You really should've let silly accidental item pickups slide. If you're not using the item it doesnt have any impact.

To be honest, I feel like doing it in easy mode only isn't as hard as it sounds. You can just go unalive yourself...
To get full healt and hunger back. And yeah, you can't respawn whenever you want, but you can use villages for beds. So it would either add some pain or only one more item.

One possible solution to the hunger issue is a bed. Sure you’ll still die a lot, but you can respawn closer to where you died and avoid spending an eternity regaining lost progress
You can actually also get a bucket from plains villager fisherman houses, and it comes with water
Thanks for letting me know! I totally missed that during research. This could definitely come in handy if I attempt this challenge in Easy mode.
Theoretically on a random seed if you are lucky enough to get a completed ruined portal, and some wood, you can only complete the game with 2 items based on your rules, EXTREMELY tough, but possible

You could also try locate the stronghold and then use the lava to light a portal, it would take much longer to go up and down but you would save on an item if you got a 3-eye portal again.

it is actually possible to stumble across an open end portal that is filled,although when you're breaking the end pillars it would take you about 3708000 seconds(almost 43 days)to just destroy the end pillars which means that its pretty much imposible

Play on hardcore and try to get a minimum number of items. I think it would be a cool challenge even if it would be impossible to get near the actual minimum. I think it would be cool just to see how few you could get.
Seeing this on hard mode or a locked difficulty would be much more fun for us but less for you 😅. Would love to see it tho
Where did the torches gone when you punched the dragon to death at the end?
Someone else pointed that out and I am honestly not sure. My best guess is that the dragon destroyed them somehow

If the peaceful stuff isn't cheating would say... Entering the gamerules settings well making a world be cheating? It doesn't require cheats to change in java but you can't change them after World creation without cheats...
I'm pretty sure you only need 2 items, Emeralds and ofc endereyes, in older versions villager could trade emerald into ender eyes needing only 2 items (also yes its TECHNICALLY possible to get all the piller u just gotta break every single obsidian block to get into the crystals), if you are a sane human its going to be 3 because the bucket (basically 11/12 items with a random seed and if the amount of endereyes is 2) so what all the yapping about is that I'm prettu sure you only need emeralds and endereyes to beat the game
Well I mean I guess im kinda wrong tho but like if you count "minimum items" by least unique items than yeah but im pretty sure you need more than 16 items ig 😂 but if you count them as unique yeah idk ur rules :/
Yeah, every individual item matters as far as I'm concerned. And if I was to buy Ender Eyes in an earlier version, I don't know how I could get enough emeralds or unlock the correct trade without buying and selling other items.

Clearly a non peaceful version of this run would involve obtaining exactly 1 bowl and finding mooshrooms to maintain infinite food for 1 item in the same way as refilling the bucket.
You can hold right mouse button to do mlg. It is easiest trick in Minecraft.

you can shift and jump to more consistently and easily crit it 2 block high spaces
if anyone wants to attempt this themselves, i would suggest turning on hitboxes to help prevent item snipes

the bucket is completely non-required. you can build a portal using only water that spawns close enough to a lava pool that's deep enough through just breaking stone. this has been proven before with other challenge runs, like it all starts with one, which has you spawn in a single biome world set to the void, turning the world into a wasteland with nothing but grass, dirt, stone, deepslate, water, and some lava p much
If I use that method of building the portal, how am I supposed to light it?
@@Drengodr if it manages to spawn close enough to a mineshaft, a wooden block from one of the support beams would do.
@@SkyanUltra So a wood block from a mineshaft would have to spawn touching a lava pool that's 5 blocks deep close enough to a water source to convert to obsidian and mine everything before the wood burns? I appreciate the idea but I'd have better luck finding a glitched end portal
@@Drengodr it’s far more common than something like that. it’s not easy to find, yeah, but it’s an alternative that doesn’t require astronomical luck and is bound to happen in a good majority of worlds.
