Absolutely in love with Bo’s back up singer Cookie V true name Cornelia Redmond-Chavez. She sadly passed at 50 in 1999. So beautiful and sexy with the voice of an angel. You ROCKED Cookie V !
There are probably three or four people responsible for that first Rock and Roll feel and Bo Diddley was one of em - absolute primal energy at its highest peak musically.
I feel like it’s more than three or four. I don’t mean to be disagreeable. Just thinking of Fats Domino, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. But there’s Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Rosetta Tharp. There are more, but I don’t see how you could create a list of three or four. I don’t think we can do that regardless of how neat and orderly we like things. I’d definitely put Bo Diddly up there of course.
Richard and his band must have been a hell of a thing to see at their peak ( I did see them at Wembley in 1972, along with Bo and the others), but I'll take Bo, the greatest then, now, forever.
Toronto hasn't changed much in 54 years......I don't even recognize the place from when I lived there in the early 90s. Condos as far as the eye can see.
Always wondered if a camera trick had him playing left hand guitar at the start and then he plays right handed later?? Always loved this dvd. You can tell he's really into playing to so many people here and getting his music out. In a world of too many apathetic people you really need to reach as many as possible to find the few who really understand or care.
@@glen6945 LOL... Your calling me a liar? What are you some kinda whacko? My comment says I was there and the doors closed the concert so I know. There's bootleg albums of the doors from the 1969 Toronto concert. Also film footage of them on stage at the gig exists too. th-cam.com/video/NtOxNoDgiHQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YlfIdJ5BB0_vXdEZ ..... Absolutely! In my top 5 things I love about this film, along with Bo's broken string, John Lennon's arrival, Bo's moves, and the AMAZING bassist-singer-tambourine sandwich.
The drummer was not Bo's drummer, so Bo, Boo and Cookie V had to work hard to make the FUNK happen on this show. We'll never know how or why the drummer was selected but Bo was always up for a challenge and he got it on this gig.
At least one of his songs is on the movie. Shame they didn't release his whole set. You can still buy the movie and the whole of Little Richard's set. I think Chuck Berry set is still available secondhand but getting rare.

Me too !!
RIP girl .
Totally agreed, her Queen of Fools 45 on Checker is a huge favourite of mine.
Oh no! What happened to her? ☹
She was smokin' hot....I had to google her up....Perfect addition to the band..
Thanks for that info, MrC - as you say, so beautiful, sexy and a great mover.

Bo RULES! And I'm a slipknot fan! If there was no Bo. No slipknot 😢

I wish I could go back in time and be there.
So true on my part as well. However my time machine is not working well this year, 2024!
Now this is HAPPY MUSIC! Something the 21st Century needs a lot more of!
Now this is the real American blues music. Amazing! The bass player and Diddley are hypnotic.
Proto-metal🤣🤣🤣
It's black rockabilly actually

+Glenn parent Do yo saw the doors???!!!
Wow, what can you remember from that day? Please reply.
it was on for 3 days----we had hot great weather----and cool evenings-the music was very good .
Approximately what time of day was this act? It looks like the afternoon/eve?

BO knows some dance moves!
Bo was better than Gene Gene the dancing machine

Bo could play the guitar but he could also dance. He put on a dance for us at a show and it was hypnotic. Up there with Michael Jackson et al.

Love that gretsch
Too bad Buddy Holly couldn't be there. John also loved his music.
+1blastman Well there was no control of that. Blame the idiot pilot and airport who allowed the plane to take off that night with them all.
Hey by any chance are you from Indiana and have a son that swam for Notre Dame?
1blastman oh yes good call

29.4.2024 miss you BO
Wild thing
All the young, uninitiated out there wondering why all of a sudden they want candy…
No Bo Diddley, no 60s garage bands, no funk, no disco, no heavy metal and probably no punk rock. I've probably missed a couple of genres.
abd rains
awesome footage of the Vagabonds ridin'
Do your thing!
Great!
Cornelia Redmond-Chavez ?

Top!

Who is Boo?
Hey Bo Diddley!
Following after Bo and his big beat would cause concern in any band.
Bo had the foot work, Cookie V had the Leg Work.

John Lennon getting out out of the car was like the second coming of christ .

4:24 Hey! Bo Diddley!
Yeah the plastic ono band had the nerve to appear with these legends, and who the hell wanted to listen to THAT?
I only wanted to listen to The Legend...Mr. Bo Diddley❤
At least one of his songs is on the movie. Shame they didn't release his whole set. You can still buy the movie and the whole of Little Richard's set. I think Chuck Berry set is still available secondhand but getting rare.
And it's damn hard to find the full Alice Cooper set.
