Was at this show, had too much to drink in prior to and missed most of the show. however, when I heard the intro I came alive, who in the hell had heard of Kyuss in '98? I felt like the the coolest guy there knowing all the words to the song.
This cover is absolutely phenomenal. I can never get enough of Tool covers. Danny nails this song right on the head. And I assume Maynard had admiration for this song with the way he sings it. Much like You Lied. Stellar!! Great up!!

Okay so, no I have not heard a studio recording of it. The track I heard was just an enhanced audio recording of the live performance. Apparently they only covered this a few times. I'm sorry for the hope lol.

I mostly agree. Not exactly '96 but a couple years later. I'm not saying they sold out (whatever that means), it's just that they went stale. Lateralus is a very good album in absolute terms, but it pales in comparison to Aenima (some of the songs on it at least). 10000 days was further down the spiral. It sounds to me like they had a massive drug-fueled surge of inspiration in the mid-nineties, then went on the wagon. Cue Bill Hicks.
Sure but drugs could be the death of creativity in terms of longevity. There is also age that changes physiology. I know this comment is 10 years old. How ya been anyways. I hope life is treating you
I agree. I only listen to pre-millennium Tool. Anything after 1999 I wont fuck with. It Seems as though after Maynard had his son his music no longer sounded the same. They were one of the greatest bands of our time in the 90's. Better then Zep and Floyd in my opinion. It's not fair to compare any band to Tool in the 90's, simply because they were on a totally different level that even today is unmatched. Modern Tool is different, Maynards voice is gone and they sound nothing like the used to.

I heard this song before the original Kyuss version. I heard the original and instantly preferred it because the drums are epic.
