    My bun had to have his incisors removed over three years ago for the same reason! I never changed hay types or length. He does great even with long strands of hay, but I do have to tear up his veggies into smaller pieces and only offer smaller treats.

    I have two buns currently. You’re making me want piggys! Will be watching your videos to decide if I should adopt a pair or not!

    I had a piggy with no teeth. I used to put the hay tied in a bundle or in a cardboard tube at head height was easier for him to pick out. Also used to use a potato peeler on his carrots etc and place the peelings in a dish with ends pointing up. ❤

    My in laws rabbit named Cookie has to have routine teeth trims every 6-8 weeks. He is a lop and it is not surprising in the least.
    Whereas one of my buns Charlie, is going to be 6 years old in October, has only needed teeth trims twice in the last year. It is super important to have your vet check their teeth at every appointment.

    🙏 for a good recovery for your bunny. I'm sure animals are like people, it takes time for them to get back to normal after a surgery. The first few days are a little rough. Just give them all the love you can.

    I am glad the surgery went well! I am so surprised that he is getting antibiotics without having an ongoing infection. I wouldn’t risk messing with his microbiota.

      I suppose it’s just something my vet does as a preventative after surgery, I’ve also had it with my guinea pig neuters. So far I haven’t had any issues with their gut biome and I also have pro biotics on hand.

    buy some chaff for him while he's getting used to having no teeth ☺️ Also in NZ where I live rabbits should have metacam/meloxicam every 12 hours as they digest the pain relief a lot quicker than cats/dogs ☺️

    I am so glad he had his surgery and it went well. 101 rabbits did a video on hay and said that 3rd Cut Timothy Hay is softer as it more grass which is better for rabbits with no front teeth and the older rabbits if that helps ☺

    • @autumngrace.
      @autumngrace.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh thank you! I feed mainly orchard right now but maybe 3rd cut is even softer!!

    • @cottontailstales1520
      @cottontailstales1520 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@autumngrace. I just doubled checked 3rd cutting Timothy hay and Orchard grass are both soft hay but orchard grass is sweeter so maybe he would prefer the timothy hay not sure but at least there is another option ☺

    I had a bunny and his bondmate I've since rehomed he came to me with no front teeth he ate everything normally pellets hey and all only thing I had to do is break up his treats for him to be able to chew them other than that he had a great appetite he ate all his pellets veggie snacks and treats and he loves his hay

  • @idarahmqvist1373
    @idarahmqvist1373 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you steam his hay? I know horse owners who so this. Don’t know if it would help.

    Get well soon sweet Koda! Vet care is so expensive in your country. This kind of surgery would be around 150 where I live!

    Hi Autumn,
    I love your channel. I was just wondering weather you have a P.O. Box to send parcels to? I have not watched this video yet but I am sure I am going to love it 🥰 hope Koda recovers well❤

    im curious as to how this affects his ability to play and interact with things, i imagne providing enrichment for a rabbit without front teeth is quite different as he can't play with chew toys or shred cardboard and that, can he sorta use his lips to throw toys and move things? ♥

    • @autumngrace.
      @autumngrace.  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I’ve thought about that too! I think I’m going to do more environment based enrichment like hides / changing up the setup more. Also more puzzle toys for his pellets that he can solve by pushing with his nose or paws.

    Hello!
    I love your channel, you’re so nice and you care about your Guinea pigs! I would love if you did a little favor and made a video about how to go on road trips for a while. I’m moving, so I would really appreciate that, ever so since it is a 12 hour drive. I would love your help so they aren’t stressed!!

    • @autumngrace.
      @autumngrace.  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have two videos where I talk about traveling with Guinea pigs! And I am actually moving soon but only about 30 minutes - but I will have a moving vlog for that!
