Almost every Hot Pursuit event is like that to be honest, which yeah, I do find annoying, but then again, it's part of the game, and when you're playing as the SCPD you're probably gonna do the same thing to the racers.

And imagine also how the manual transmission would improve his runs because the auto sometimes here it shifts bit early or it downshifts too much. Usually manual in racing games improve the control of the cars better than the auto but there are some games that manual is actually worse than the auto like in NFS MW 2005. And there was 1 guy who made a mod for manual transmission and it proved that is actually would have been better than the auto if it was added since when this game came.
