I have them living in front of my house here in the Highlands...spot them usually early in the morning..like today.

our native eagle species are being reintroduced too :)

What's a point? It's just money waste. The otters have good live in others countries. But looks the UK need be so special about that.
@@Sunstepa not sure at all what kind of point you’re trying to make, but returning once-native species to an ecosystem to fulfill vacant niches in the ecosystem significantly improves the well-being of said ecosystem. that’s the point of rewilding.
@@joeschianodicola1810 my point is if species of animals can't naturally adapt or survive then let them die out! Nothing will survive till the earth end it's inevitable so it's pointless work.

The downtown city of Milwaukee Wisconsin has a pair of River Otters on the Milwaukee River. So far things are going well.
Nice to hear. At one point it was a rarity to see otters in U.K rivers, due to hunting, and pesticides leaking into the rivers, but hopefully like your pair in Milwaukee they will eventually reclaim their natural environment back. P.s One good thing on the U.K otters side is that they are now classed as a protected species.

Pretty awesome thing they are doing. From what I understand beavers as well are being introduced back in the England so they will naturally help each other
They havnt been introduced, theve allways been here, they was just persecuted, hunted for pelts, and loss of habitat and pollution drastically took a toll on their numbers...

The only riverine species in the UK that can suppress invasive Mink.
Re-introduced otters are currently destroying the UK angling scene. The otters go into lakes and ponds and kill all the large fish taking everything and way beyond just what they need to eat. They are destroying stock fish in commercial fishers worth many tens of thousands of £. The result is, many commercial lakes having to close and a destruction of a wildlife friendly hobby previously enjoyed by millions.
