I watched it twice. Its very sad. The way it was shot and edited portrayed him as a very lonely and sad man. The house didnt even looked 'lived in', like he had no friends. Kenny is very defensive all the time, it was almost painful. His chops are amazing, you cant take that away from him. Whether you like his compositions isn't important. The jazz world blasts him only because Kenny does not play traditional jazz, i.e. bd-bop, blues, etc, But his fans think this is jazz, and that irks real jazz musicians. Plus there is the fact that even the most successful jazz artist do not make that much money, compare to the rock-star money Kenny pulls in. So theres that. What was revealing is that Kenny lives inside his own head, almost resolved to not be part of the norm. Hes obsessed with himself and his career. Having said that, its a free world, and he has every right to write and produce whatever he likes. The jazz artists like Pat Mathenny, who have gone on record and out of their way to put Kenny down with horrible insults, just show how bitter and immature they are. They need to stop with the name-calling, it just makes them look so jealous and petty. Kenny has a huge audience and he invented this 'smooth jazz' sound, you have to give him that. The haters are suffering because they are miserable because they have a tiny audience compare to Kenny. The important lesson here is I truly hope Kenny is not damaged by all that negative noise. People have a right to live, earn a living, and not be slammed for not conforming to what everybody else says you should be doing. Kenny is one of a kind, a true original. And I would take that over the thousands of copy-cats trying to emulate Trane, Chick, Herbie, Bill Evans, Miles et al. Be yourself, believe in yourself, do no harm, respect others, help people who need help, give to less fortunate people. Be original.
pat metheny probably hasn't mentioned kenny g in almost 25 yrs, shortly after the release of the louis armstrong track, so he stopped the "name calling" a long time ago. no doubt pat's comments were certainly over the top but they were his feelings and something he felt strongly about. and don't worry about kenny, has a net worth of possibly hundreds of million dollars. he won't go hungry ...
@@skiadikti wouldn’t be surprised if Kenny reached out to pat an had a long conversation with him about his comments he seems like the type to do that besides he obviously never takes criticism to heart so he’s definitively not losing any sleep about it
@@skiadikt metheny was virtue signaling and grandstanding acting all defensive over some old black jazz guy that he has no connection to. that's what a lot of liberals like to do, act offended for other people particularly minorities. and besides what a wonderful world is a corny song and is not really jazz anyway, so what's it matter if Kenny G added to it?
also people forget, Kenny is an early investor in Starbucks! he's super wealthy outside of his music. Guy is the GOAT! no other way to describe it.... he's a legend in his own right
Here's the thing, other musicians (whether seasoned, famous, or unknown) who hate and ridicule another musician for playing and sharing their own music with listener who enjoy and value it....are simply jealous and bitter that they are not celebrated in the same way. This gentlemen chose to put in his own time, effort, and work to create and play his own sound in a way that would delight willing listeners....AND it paid off! In my opinion He should be admired for confidently and consistently being himself despite all of the hate. People enjoy him, I enjoy him and I'm thankful for his music. To ME, he's an instrumentalist, a songwriter, an artist who plays jazz, pop, classical, and any other style that people enjoy. To all of those musicians who find fault with him for being Kenny G.....get over yourselves. Play YOUR music and be happy that someone enjoys it, but don't be mad at him because people may enjoy him more!
Kenny is such a true, likeable guy; A great musician and really is a gift from God too all of us; God Bless you Kenny G 🙏 Lots of love Always Denise Stacey ❤ 💙 (KINDNESS ALL AROUND THE WORLD FOR EVERYONE)❤
Awesome interview Penny Lane. Kenny is a great artist I'm so excited to have listened to his unique sound for years. KG critics will be critics, but no one can ever erase the fact that you are one of the greatest Saxophonist alive today. Trust me all generations coming up will know and love your music you my dear have created timeless Classics turned Masterpieces. Keep 'keeping it Saxy! ❤ Butterfly 🦋

Yep! Inverted Cadence: the misnomer "Smooth Jazz" invented Kenny G., one of the most "trumpiferously" self-confident, known, famous and financially well-to-do stars♥️ Kenny G. has demonstrated the art - the Science, if I may - on "How To Win Friends And Influence People". Pax vobiscum!
Gee I wonder how he feels about Kanye West now that everybody knows he's a hater of everybody? You got to wonder what kanye was actually thinking during all this? Just saying. ✌️

Jesus is your way to heaven, he paid the price for your sins. Once you believe you are sealed and saved forever. Salvation is a free gift.
what
Kenny G is your way into heaven
I finally discovered the one thing in the world worse than listening to Kenny G's horn: listening to him interviewed.
nah, that would be your comment.
It’s always amazing how people always search the thing they hate on TH-cam just to leave evil comments. What do you get out of that? Seriously.
@@reapwhatyousow3383 So his comment is worse than listening to Kenny G
OK pat Matheny
