Ford Focus Active X Estate Walkaround

- Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome back to another Walkarond video. This time I have the new Ford Focus Active X, the SUV inspired model that offers protective cladding, a raised ride height, different driving modes and a different suspension setup compared to the rest of the Focus range.
The model seen here is fitted with the 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine, which offers 150hp, with power fed to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox that is new for the Focus.
There will of course be a full review coming - expect to see that in 1 or 2 weeks.

I ordered one of these 3 weeks ago on a 16 leadtime. Got the Active X estate 1.5 auto ecoboost in Chrome Blue. All the reviews on this so far have been foreign so its nice to see a UK review.

Got one in diffused silver but everything else the same. Stunning to drive. Upgraded to the full dynamic headlights and sweeping indicators.
@@RonnieMain I suffer form neck pain and headaches and have a lot of problems if a car have jittery and stiff suspension (I've bought Qashqai and sometimes have big troubles driving it on wavy and patchy tarmac). Quiet cabin is also important for me. I've red lot of good things regarding Focus and his suspension, mainly described as tuned comfortable, but some people think that Focus is stiffer and has less comfy suspension than VW Golf. According to reviews the Active trim should be even more comfortable compared to regular Titanium trim. What's your experience in general?
@@vjexxx very comfortable, I have the Active X trim. There is a difference in the suspension from the lower spec models than the ST Line and up including Active X. Recommended a test drive. Some dealers are offering 48hrs.
Maybe we get different kit in the Netherlands or they maybe changed it sings 2019, but AFAIK, for the Active X the 18" are optional (standard 17"), the leathery chair accents and electronically adjustable seating as well, and most importantly, the sunroof too.

Does the sunroof have a sunblind not sure if ill have this car or the Kuga seems more for the money on the Focus Active

Do these light featured on the car adapt to on coming cars and the road? No just auto high beam but blank out an area if an oncoming car is on the way but continued to light up the rosy ahead on the left?
Hello Ryan, thanks for watching. They are just auto high beam; they don't have a clever matrix system like some of the German cars.
13:29 If you put your tea or coffee mug in the cup holder the small space will give you space for the ear of the mug
Not sure if that is what it was designed so or just how I use it.

Not quite sure I see the point of the Focus Active X if it doesn't even have four wheel drive, and Ford have the new Kuga and the new Puma coming to their line up soon as well, but there we go!
I can see where you're coming from in regard to four wheel drive, but a lot of SUVs are bought with front wheel drive, and even the AWD ones won't see any real mud that often... Thanks for watching.
@@CarObsession, absolutely, I can't argue with that! Ssangyong have just discontinued the four wheel drive Tivoli, for example, as no one was buying them, and SUVs like the Volkswagen T-Cross, MG ZS and Seat Arona aren't available with four wheel drive on any model at all. It's got to be about the look, image and raised driving position, hasn't it?
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yup, but I must admit, the Focus Active X is likely to disappoint those looking for a high, commanding driving position.
@@CarObsession, that's certainly true! The reason it exists over the standard Focus Estate has to be looks and image alone in that case.

@@CarObsession So do I!!! I've been drinking Tetley because it is cheaper at the supermarket here! lol If I order it from Amazon, I've gotten it shipped from the UK. I think my favorite is Yorkshire tea. But it is expensive (about the same price as P.G. Tips I think). I tried P.G. Tips before they changed the formula, and it was better then in my opinion. You can see, I love British tea!

What is that on the top of the steering column from around 3:40? looks like the plastic has melted!

Seems very expensive for what it is, the car and equipment aren't too bad till you take into account extras on it. Where there are a lot of cars where for less you get most of what you want. I'd rather have, better headlights and safety equipment as standard than panoramic roof. Probably a better proposition, with more standard specification and thus lower price.
Yes, I know they want to show off, with the press cars. Suppose horses for courses.
I can see why you'd say that John, but I worked out that this car (without options) works out to be better value to an equivalent Nissan Qashqai. Thanks for watching.
